'59 plates

Featured Replies

Anyone seen any '59 plates out there yet?

The first one I saw was last Friday (28th August) in Cameron street, Hillington park, Glasgow.

It was a black Audi A3 being prepared, it had the plates on and was in the street at the back of the Audi workshop.

Saw LR59 NEW on a Land Rover... don't think it was a real plate though

Seen loads prep'd and ready for collection at the Fiat and Nissan dealers I've been to over the last few weeks. Credit crunch, eh?

Rob.

One new i10 and a gross coloured Ford Focus hatch

Got sent a picture of one that had gone into the back of one of the lorries at my mate's place. Only had 200 miles on it!

Forgot to look :o

seen a bmw 5 series and a new seat ibiza the other day

Ford Fiesta on Tuesday, several vans on the back of a truck, and a focus. People are cashing in on the scrappage scheme.

Seen loads now

I work for a garage, and we have a massive holding compound so see all sorts lol

I used to count them when i was younger, was a family game to prevent boredom! I'd be into thousands now since i started working for the garage 3 years ago lol

The first I saw was a Hyundai i10. Then an Audi A6.

Don't see the point any more....

Just bought a '58 plate motor, ( ex demo ) with 8k miles on, and saved over 25% on the list price...

Bargain,,,,

I'm hoping to hear back from a dealer this weekend about a 59 plate car that i could have delivered in time for xmas.

Knocked over £3,500 off with discounts and comparison sites and thats including a few extra's.

Fingers are crossed.

Have seen a few repmobiles, but 3 Audi R8 's on the M1 yesturday around Milton Keynes.

Head Office runarounds !!

Mazda 2 and Mazda 6 next door this morning, but then the guy does own the Dealership!

I was following a Punto today on the bike and thought the bike was getting hot as I could smell it.

Having no temp gauge, just a warning light when it's too late, I realised it was the car in front :)

Yup seen a few now,an R8 in Bristol a couple of Fabia sports and 1 x Octy vRS locally :D

Must admit don't really see the point when you can get a 6mth to a yr old car at a way better price without the niggly issues that always crop up with new:thumbdwn:

See a few being ragged between storage yards and the dealerships.

seen a golf estate and what looked like a hyundai i20 today

Its not insured if it is real.

Saw loads on the 1st Sept, all AA driving school Focus'es on 2 transporters

Because if people didn't buy new cars, there wouldn't be the nearly-new bargains available

I think new car registrations down 21% YoY is pretty bad, don't you?

Plus you also don't end up with a car that's been ragged for 6-12 months.

It rather depends on why that figure is down. If it's because dealers aren't buying stock to inflate sales figures for manufacturer targets, is that a bad thing? If it's because there was a peak in sales 2 years ago and everyone is keeping their car for three years, would a reduction in sales figures not be natural?

Dunno...the published figures suggest a situation which isn't borne out from speaking to dealers. Maybe they're just the lucky ones?

Rob.

5x reg's have never been that popular. People prefer the year on their reg when buying new.

I see the cars from the local VeeDub dealer popping in to get fuel quite a lot, either as part of PDI or in preparation for customer hand-over. I can safely tell you that even a car with a few miles on it has been 'ragged' and shown no mechanical sympathy, given the length of time 1st gear is held for when exiting the garage :mad:

59s - seen a few now but didn't really remember to look really :o - first one was a red Alfa MiTo 1.4TS, looked good. Then followed about 30 secs later by a white S5 cabriolet

Seen numerous ones now, none of which have been very exciting...

Maybe overall, but September is very close to march in sales terms so you should see lots of 59 plates. Go back to the last "normal" year, 2007, and March was 449K sales and Sept was 419K sales. Third highest was June at about half that level, 220K sales.

2008 is not to trend due to collapse in sales from the summer.

Take a look at the first graph: UK CAR SALES 2009 STATISTICS FORD VAUXHALL VOLKSWAGEN BMW 2008 2009 ALL CAR MAKES FACTS

Whats a reasonable guess for Sept 2009? I'd say 350K
