tyres

Featured Replies

hey, i have had a set of toyo t1r's on my vrs for 6 months and the sides have knackered. i wish to change them for something a bit harder wearing and at a good price. what would you suggest?

cheers

Kumho or Goodyear Arrowspeed

I will probably get ousted for this :D

I used to always fit eagle F1's to my VRS but got fed up replacing them constantly at £100 a corner so I got budgets and although they offer no grip (not overly bothered as my car is a workhorse) they have lasted ages!!!

So its Nankangs for the week and I am sourcing track day wheels and tyres for fun

Just put Pirelli P Zero Nero's on mine. They seem ok. Always used T1-R's in the past though - awesome tyre.

Just put two new Eagle F1's on the front on mine - got them through the work account for £53 a corner.

Not tried any others on the Vrs but can't fault 'em really, might be different when the frost comes

Good luck coming up to winter....

Have you got them inflated enough? I only say this as I experienced the same thing on a track day with my Proxy T1Rs and after I stuck a couple more PSI in them the side wall rubbing was far less under heavy cornering.

Ive gone for Maxxis MA-V1's on my last two sets of alloys!

Really liked them! The price is right and the quality seems spot on too!

You need a set of these

Should be up to the job.

Thanked the user that said about pressures... sounds to me as if you have them under inflated to me or you drive with either full lock on left or right down every road!

I did muller the outside wall of mine on a track day and only did 200 miles, but I knew they werent on full 'boost'!

always have them checked at 32psi (this is what the read out in the fuel cap says) is this not correct?

I run mine at 36psi Fr 33psi Rr.

Nice even wear!

I generally always run a tad more being a diesel lump on the front and I know they take that into account anyway, but meh. The tyres walls do go down if you push in the corners fella thats true, but id be worried if it was THAT much

I also prefer the slightly over pressure but more like 34 psi all round

Also hate kumhos on experience, seemed to deform badly at the back, giving lots of roadnoise and poor mpg compared to the standard brigestones which infinitely better.

However I think actual performance on them is pretty reasonable and at least comparable with bridgestones, proves you get what you pay for.

Given how much they have done my head in, on the note of comfort, noise and slightly lesser mpg (kwikfit offered recently set of 4 bridgestones down to 84 ea) then I'd go for something more like that or better/premium in future (even though they are rated by some here).

Although since everyone rates the toyos I'd have to try them once. Currently new Bridgestones at rear though so looking to pair them up at the front so the same brand all round first though.
