Shame bout the car Duggie

The Police won't have thought "it's only a Skoda" thats a bit narrow minded.

Anewmans got a point but why shouldn't these cretins be a little scared. after all they'll be more scared of getting hurt than arrested.

My mates car had the mirror kicked off and then a few months later someone chucked burgers and sauce and other stuff on it when he was visiting a friend.

I was playing with the idea of isolating the chassis and fitting an alarm connected to a set of 20,000 volt capacitors I have lying around................

Then how about Hyundai and other companies raising the price of their cheaper cars by £2000 almost as soon as the scheme was announced (i10 was £5500 in March, now £5500 AFTER scrappage allowance).

A lot of the manufacturers haven’t put their prices up at all (excluding the usual annual one) but the weak pound has meant some exchange rates have increased the price of cars drastically. I couldn’t care less about Hyundai tbh, but most manufactures have held reasonably firm. Don’t forget the £2K is only £1K from the government and 1K from the manufacturer.

exactly...and looking closer to 'home' if you were considering a new Fabia, the Pound has lost 10% of its value against the Czech Crown in about a month. Crown also unstable against the Euro, which is why Vrchlabi Skoda plant lost the VW 'Up!' deal to Slovakia which has been Euro since January.

Wiring diagrams and pictures of dead cats who ventured onto your car awaited :D

I hadn't thought of the bonus of dead cats!!!!

( I love cats, they taste like chicken).

Rockets and guns leave shells.

What about a flame thrower?

I feel for you mate - its a shame you cant track them down...

You know the problem is you never had one of these fitted:

Well folks, here's the outcome, the b*sta*d(s) were caught and... cautioned (honestly, what is the point in "local police"?, I did get a phone call from the little (he was 17) lad's mother saying sorry, i simply said that if i saw him around my way any time soon he wouldn't be arriving home the way he left but then said that i respect the fact that she called to say sorry but that it was a shame he didn't have the balls to do it himself.... The car has been scrapped (got £80.00) as my insurance was only third party so didn't cover the glass... The refund on the tax and insurance also made me feel a little happier and the fact i'm back in my Fabia (was turning into a bit of a trailer queen) has also boosted my spirits... still, i'm going to miss the old gal. Thanks for your imputs on the matter and hope none of you have any similar experiances...

The little turd should have been made to do your garden…

…….with the lawn mower shoved up his bum

I sympathise - someone broke into my Felicia last month (along with 3 other cars in my road). Passenger door totally wrecked - am holding out for one to come into my local scrappy.

Why can't they just break a window instead of bending the bloody door in half? I'd rather replace glass than a whole frickin' door.

I actually heard them at it (I was in bed at the time) and yelled at them out of the window. Dunno what scared them off - me yelling at them, or the sight of me in the window partially naked..!!

Haha! Tony Martin is a bit of a legend! He was just a bit sloppy, and a bad shot, and a bit mental!

I bet nobody ever tries to break into his house again though.....

Unbelievable, What kind of detterent is a caution?????

Hi Duggie, If the yobbo's mother was sorry her horrid offspring wrecked your car, how about a contribution towards the damage say £170 , paid for by pawning the ratbags nintendo DS, playstation 3 , BMX , and denying him anything other than the basic needs of life for some months, Covskoda

Duggie, it seems your Felly was not the only one targeted; I drove through Worcester today and saw several Fellys with the doors kicked in on both the front and the back.

Do you think some saddo boy-racer with a tarted up, clapped out, old banger has been burnt off by a Felly and is taking his revenge??

The last person that stole a vehicle from me is dead.......

  • 2 weeks later...

Earlier this year my sisters Micra got nicked.

Got told this morning someone broke into my Favorit, and took the stereo.

I was out in Manchester last night, and this morning my Dad informs me that the car was broke into and the stereo nicked.

I have examined the car, no broken glass at least.

The lowlife or lowlifes bent the rear left door and must have tried stealing the car as a neighbour tells me they saw it abandoned in the midle of the street and thought it was broken down.

I say try stealing it as the steering lock must have engaged and they bent/damaged the steering column.

They took the stereo but no low life is taking my car. I haven't called the insurers yet, they'll only write it off.

Goddammit.

came home with a hangover, had to report the crime and am waiting for the police to call back in case they want to dust off the car.

Should I call my insurers and claim for the stereo but tell them I'll get the car damaged fixed myself? so they don't write it off?

Can that be done?

My excess is £100 but I have stereo cover might as well use it. can get the stereo fitted and my rear speakers wired in

Sometimes they don't give you the buy back option.

All these idiots in the country :mad::mad::mad:

I was once told the way thieves steal cars is to rag the steering wheel which breaks the steering lock. Having seen the steering lock mechanism on the Favorit I can see how it would fail to break as it consists of 1cm+ thick steel rod. The Twunt probably thought it would be an easy steal.

Most difficult bit in replacing the steering column will probably be sorting out the ignition lock itself. Hopefully the old one is still in good nick and can be put onto the new steering column.

Pics of the damage Clicky

Sorry to hear your woes Captain; it is a pity the door was not as strong as the steering lock!!

Dammit!! I thought the whole point of buying a Skoda was, no-one would want to nick it!! :-)

You know I despair at how we treat these idiots now. Many years ago my older half brother got in with a bad crowd and stole a car, he got caught and arrested, as he was a juvinile, the police could only caution him, but they kicked the crap out of him before letting him go, and he lost 2 front teeth (good old late 70's!). He made damb sure he gave up on that sort of behavior from that point on. Now I know that it's really not pc these days to say it, but I really am sure a lot of these people wouldn't risk this type of behavior if they knew they would at least get a damb good kicking for such behavior when the law was otherwise impotent.

I'm really sorry to hear of your trouble Captain. Do get the car fixed, the value of good Favorits will start to increase soon, I'm sure, due to the rarity as there will soon be hardly any left :(.

Paul

Bent the door back on Sunday after the forensics people dusted it down.

Got my Favorit back today from my mechanic. He had to hunt around and got me a steering column from another Favorit as Felicia ones have different switches.

Really had to hunt around!!!

But now if I turn right the indicator self cancel switch works but doesnt work when turning left.

The little plastic clip was broke on the other column and never worked. so I got one bonus!!!

The scroats who bent my door best hope they don't bump into me otherwise they might find their arms and legs a bit bent.

But why lower the tone. I got my Favorit back!!!! :D and yep it felt good to drive her again!!

You need to be a pro like Maindrian Pace from Gone in 60 seconds to steal a Favorit.
