Age of vRS owners

Featured Replies

I was 35 when I was bitten by the "fast" Skoda bug and that was 1.8T Elegance. Never looked back and now I'm in a vRS.

I had a citroen xantia with the same engine for my first car, was a hoot with 90bhp and diesel torque, all my mates where driving around in fiestas, corsas and saxos, non of them could keep up :)

I had a Citreon zx with this engine, my mate in an astra 1.8 16v wouldn't believe it was a diesel the first time he followed me....Would seem very tame now

By the way, got my fabia vrs at 39 and my octy vrs (petrol) at 44 still an (old) boy racer:thumbup:

I'm 6 months off being 30 (!!!!!!!) so not quite old - yet.

Bought my TFSi just over a year ago, wanted a family sized car but didnt want something boring. This has room for a baby seat (last car didnt really, due to the lack of back seats :D) plenty of room in the boot for a buggy/pram, etc and a big, sturdy, solid feel to it so hopefully will provide protection. Now all i need is the baby to put in it!

Bought my first Octy 1.8T vRS Mk1 when i was 34, now on my 2nd Octy, a vRS II TFSI and creaping up to 40:eek: in February.

opted out of the company car scheme and brought my vrs pd tdi at 35. Most of my cars were company from the nissan bluebird, astra to a calibra redtop, 9-3 ragtop, crappy focus estate and now the VRS:)

Yes i've had the "but its still a skoda badge" but with the simple reply i give "i dont give a ****" The engineers i work with who have tried it can't believe how quick it is:D

I got mine just before my 19th b-day. you can never be too young :-)

37 and I believe you have to be experienced to have one! Wife is 32 and loves the power, younger otherwise and your gonna be in a ditch sooner or later, this car has to be earned both in money and driving experience, had a pug309 gtdx in miami blue in our scraping a living years, closest to the race blue ive ever seen and it was great, lots of power and reliability and respect from guys in the car industry where i worked and it would put our vrs to shame with its record. Sadly pugs have lost the way, thats why i left my job and Skoda is nearly there where pugs once were. Saying that our VRS is THE BEST CAR we have ever had. Well done Skoda,

pals with Mercs are seriously wondering why they ever bought into a defunct, expensive servicing and under achieving brand from the past. Pity the Skoda dealers dont live up to their hype on customer service.

44 and just got my first vRS! Midlife crisis:rofl:

I have just had to edit this!! I got my age wrong, getting old!!!

Thought I was 45 when I am 44!!!!!!!!!!

44 when I got my current car. The way things are going I hope I will still be 46 when I get my FL vRS.

28 with my VRS CR. Needed a car to replace the Fabia that had a big enough boot and enough leg room to cope with the pending arrival of our 1st baby in November.

26, so at the younger end. I get some grief at work about it being a 'family' car and that they're driven by Grandads etc :D

Doesn't bother me and I always usually drive something a little bit different anyway. And I'm used to the banter anyway... it's my 3rd Skoda ;)

I am 21 and just bought my LE TSI VRS a couple of months ago.

It did help that I could transfer my 3 years NCD from my bike onto the car policy though, dont think i would be able to afford the insurance otherwise!

Bought my first new skoda when I was 24, an Octavia Classic SDi, at 26 I got a VW Bora Sport TDi 130, then got my Octavia vRS PD at the age of 29. I like to think there is no average Skoda vRS driver and I like the fact you dont see many about.

I am 22 and own Octavia VRS 07 MKII :)

Insurance for me is £33 a month with More Than. I do have £600 young drivers excess though.

im 31 , bought the car to replace a vectra sri , my brother in law said "a skoda" hes a posing **** though, i said name a car as fast and as practical and as cheap . he couldnt!

hes since bought a alfa romeo brera, nice car but they have had there sons legs removed so he can gat in the back!

got mine at 23 !

Has it broke down yet?.........It will;)

Also a classic case of a car looking faster than it really is :)

I am 33 and got my Vrs when I was 30.

57 now! Had mine for 2 years and just ordered another one. Doesn't matter if you are 17 or 70. what matters is how much you enjoy driving and what car it is! INMHO the joke is on people who don't drive Skoda!! 3 Skodas in our house so ....

my mate got a vrs for his 1st car at 17 off his "daddy"..

i`m 38 have two kids so leather interior of Le is ideal. Um is someone going to do the math and work out our average age !

mine is a cr diesel

Was 23 when I got the Fabia vRS.

Now 27 with the Octavia vRS. Figured it was a good idea to have a larger car for future sprogs - while still being able to have some fun :)

'Practical and exciting' was the sales line wasn't it!

I'm 53 and enjoy every minute of driving my vRS, as does my son when he's home from Uni.

Someone mentioned math and average age? Well I've done a quick tally so far and put vRS owners into age groups with some results that Skoda UK might be interested in. I have not counted anyone in an Octy I or Fabia seeing as this is the Octy II part of the forum and maybe later I will recount to show the differential between TFSI and TDI ownership.

under 25 yrs;- 16

26 - 35 yrs;- 17

36 - 45 yrs;- 19

46 - 55 yrs;- 2

56 - 65 yrs;- 2

over 65 yrs;- None

Overall, I'm intrigued at the number of 'under 25s' owning a vRS considering the expectedly high insurance cost, but then perhaps you don't have other commitments such as mortgages, family etc. Well done and enjoy; I had a 2yr old Triumph TR6 with stage 2 SAH head (to give it 150 bhp :D) at 21and a plethora of ordinary and interesting cars over the years; all driven with gusto. ;)

Additionally; the overall picture is perhaps slanted by the average age of the forum contributors and there may well be a whole bunch of older vRS owners out there that are not on the forum. :D

I'll do an update to the above stats once there are another 10 or so to add and if you guys /gals could put down whether you have a TFSI or TDI (PD or CR, doesn't matter) I'll tot those up as well. PS> anyone who has not already said whether you have TFSI or TDI, would you please edit your existing post (unless its clear from your signature); that would help; thanks.

I will be new to Skoda ownership as I am taking delivery of a new Octavia VRS CR170 DSG in December. I'm 56

First new car was in 1976 aged 22, a Ford Escort Mk 2 RS Mexico

Current car is a Ford Focus ST 5 door mapped to 271hp. Part of the reason for changing is that I have found I do not use the performance very often, perhaps old age is catching up with me

I did however have a great trip to the Nurburgring last year and did 30 laps of the 'Ring
