Born to Flapp

Bread to grace the flapping track but with heart murmur and lame of leg,

Soon to be rejected, abandoned to steal and beg.

Avoiding cars, lorries and starvation,

Tia Greyhound rescue was your salvation.

But by now an unsociable fella with all trust lost,

How on earth could they justify the cost?

When you attacked any kennel mate,

And showed no interest in the hand from which you ate.

Looking for a blue bitch to adopt I came,

He's a black dog they said so pretty much the same.

So like a sucker I agreed and even paid,

for the first few weeks a mistake I thought we'd made.

You would lie upon you bed and give the cold shoulder,

Until you felt you where staying then you got boulder.

Kicking us from the sofa and then our bed,

Finally using our laps to lay your head.

Well old boy after nine fantastic years,

The time as come for me to shed some tears.

As I lay you down to rest,

I know in doggy heaven you will show Mick the Miller who is the Best.

Fairwell my best friend

Andrew

Dino was sent peacefully on his way Monday 28/09/09 after a short battle with Cancer.

Sad times. Best wishes to you all :grouphug:

Such a tough call to make, but you know it's the right one deep down. Also, as one of perhaps a fairly small group of Briskodians to meet Dino, I can say it was a genuine pleasure and I don't think I've ever seen such an energetic greyhound :)

Again thanks to everyone, had no plans to get another just yet, but then I saw another Grey that as been overlooked for the last 4 months after being abandoned at the local pound...............(our suitability interview is on Saturday) like Loz says, "Why do we do it?"

Sorry to hear that :(

My golden retriever was put to sleep on the 18th september aged 15. She had a brain tumour since May 2008 but was doing well until the postman reversed into her and broke her leg :( Things will never be the same in this house again!

I was in a similar situation in January, Andrew, and can feel your pain. :grouphug: Memories of our beloved departed Staffie still bring tears to my eyes, but we still have her daughter plus - since just 2 days ago - another 6 month old Staffe bitch who is managing to turning our lives upside down. Give another dog a good home when you are ready. :)
