Great night, and was really nice to meet those that turned up...Liam and Mrs Liam, Andy and Mrs Andy, Vikki, IAN VRS and his dad, and fresh from Scotland..Tim..you nutter. :D

  • 2 weeks later...

Interesting article on the radio today about the success or otherwise of people who operate in business but with a slightly unorthodox view ie Muslim shopkeepers and restaurant owners who do not sell alcohol or Jewish bakeries that do not open on the Sabbath.

It turns out that Mitchell Skoda were originally Mitchell Mitsubishi (I didn't know this) but Mitsubishi were insisting that they traded seven days a week. Mr (Mike?) Mitchell is a Christian and does not believe in Sunday trading so he and Mitsubishi parted company. As it happens Skoda did not have a problem with this and in fact encouraged them to put 'Spending time with the family' on the door rather than 'Closed on Sunday'.

According to Mr Mitchell a by-product of this decision is generally a happier workforce and a much lower than industry standard employee turnover.

Well I thought it was interesting anyway...

Mark (not Mike) was a bit of TV star when that happened - he was on North West Tonight being interviewed about he Mitsubishi thing.

Technically speaking they are the Mitchell Group which includes, Mitchell Skoda, Mitchell Mazda and Chester Lexus.
