What did you do to your Skoda today?

Featured Replies

Nothing yet but I've bought a tin of smooth black Hammerite to paint some red bits

  • Popped to the garage at lunchtime to swap coolant temp sensor. I don't think it's the problem but it can't hurt. Going to swap O2 sensor later for the spare I have. Went well, all sorted in 5 mins. T

New battery in today (thank you for the message bluevrs2). Got the power-steering warning light after connecting up the new battery - but I was ready for that from reading on the forum last night, so drove the Skoda very slowly and gave the steering full lock-to-lock turns and all was ok.

Gave the outside another wash down and cleaned a bit more of the interior.

ps this is a great forum

Washed the dirty bugger, tomorrow fitting my lower brace.

Changed all interior light bulbs to LED,s. much better.

Fitted new boot struts as the old ones were shot, Huge improvement!

Washed it and cleaned the inside for the first time

Took all three bags of size 3 footballs, 1 bag of cones, 1 bag of bibs, 1 medical bag and some smelly wet n muddy boots out of the boot.

got air con recharged at kwik fit and now works a treat.

Got in, turned key, battery dead.

Looks like it's time to give in and buy a new one, it has been holding charge for less and less time.

7 years and 7 months is the longest I've had a battery last I think!

Not bad going, but they can't keep going forever I suppose :)

got these in the post today for £2! :)

Fit spare to back, and switch the one that was on the back to the front, to clear your brakes emoticon-0148-yes.gif

have done so for the time being, good shout and cheers  but not all that comfortable with the clearance of an 8.5j wheels on the front so will be getting rid of the brakes anyway :'(

I had these but people try to steal them. One knakered my valve by twisting it so much and kept getting a flat. Good for shows though suppose

ow, :dull: I hope they don't get nicked, I like them!!

I tried out some Poor Boys Natty's paste on my black octy today. Only did the bonnet (and barely cleaned it before hand!!!) and was highly impressed. Made the black look fantastic. Showed up a lot of swirl marks though so I'll have to give it a proper clean and polish to hopefuly make it look nicer. I was a bit skeptical of how a hard wax would work but ive been pleasantly surprised. Ill see how long it lasts.

Emptied boot after two weeks of working away only to find missing shoe with Mars bar inside! Cant have it as on the healthy eating regime

Car filthy and in need of pampering, just can't figure out best way to clean it @ -4c .

Fixed the headlights on the Fabia on Saturday. A broken bulb had melted the headligt connector so ended up splicing in a new connector in that tight area behind the lamp - not fun. Then fitted new +30% bulbs to both.

After that I set about the leaking washer bottle - Fitted a new pump to the bottle and reconnected the pipes in the correct orientation, reconneted a split rear screen pipe under the bonnet, refilled and checked... and now when I try to wash the windcreen the pump drenches the rear hatch and when I try to clean the rear hatch the pump drenches the windscreen...

The pipes only fit one way round (too short to get wrong) and so does the electrical connector so I can only assume the pump I got off ebay spins the wrong way

So now I need some more pipe an connectors to botch it to work properly.

Oh - and all of the above was done in the freezing cold and snow with the kids inside the car 'playing'...

Fitted new battery, drove to work. (first time in the office since December!)

Just had two new Vredesten HiTrac2 fitted and also had a go at re-aligning the drvers side headlight given I noticed it was out after replacing bulbs and connectors on Saturday... (at least both lights now point in vaguely the same direction... :giggle: )

Just got the front / rear washer situation to sort out now

Nothing to my Skoda. However, had the most therapeutic afternoon known to man.

Each one of these got their vital fluids topped up in turn, then all cleaned...

Changed Skoda badge on my key.

Hoping to pick up my new badges tomorrow, clean the car and stick them on. :)

What new logo badges or the old green ones

Changing the Fabia lettering and the vRS badges to the MkII ones.

Changed the battery on my dad's Octavia, bought one from Euro Car Parts with 25% brisky discount

From getting a phone call for help to fitting said battery, 60mins.

Wash and clean, new set of wiper blades front and rear. Happy that rear wiper doesn't make a juddering screech as it wipes now  Then I took out both headlamps in turn and checked the bulbs - they weren't sitting properly in the holders, probably explaining why they only seemed to light up the few feet immediately in front of the car - read about that on the forum. Reseated the bulbs properly, now they light up the road beautifully :) happy about that too. Noticed quite a lot of mud behind the front right mudflap, so removed that and cleaned out the wet mud in the cavity behind the arch liner, will do the other side next time, it was getting late ;)

Also touched-in some paint around the turned-in lip at the rear wheel arches. At some point some-one has been over enthusiastic with a machine polisher and the edges were down to a white primer in some places, so that's one coat of paint on, will build it up over the next few weeks.

Finally put a spot of spray grease on the bonnet, door and tailgate hinges.
