What did you do to your Skoda today?

Featured Replies

Drove it to work & got hacked off by all the numpties driving nose to tail at 80 with foglights on thinking they make them invincible.. :wonder:

I agree... really stupid. This is what happened in Germany in the last week for doing just that:

So really not clever thinking a fog light will save your bacon.

  • Popped to the garage at lunchtime to swap coolant temp sensor. I don't think it's the problem but it can't hurt. Going to swap O2 sensor later for the spare I have. Went well, all sorted in 5 mins. T

Decided to remove the Turbo off my 2003 Octavia VRS ready for a rebuild I think it needs!

Took just over 2 hours to remove the lower strut brace as the captive nuts became un-captive :(

Ended up getting the welder out, ground the bolt heads off, released the strut brace, welded the captive nuts to the subframe (Definately captive now !

Welded bolts to the ground off bolts then managed to undo them - Oh for the use of a bit of copper grease :giggle:

On further removing the Turbo which I think is non standard one the Metal Air Intake pipe on the turbo that goes to the airbox fell off !!!!

The bracket that bolts it to the Turbo had been broken in the past by the looks of things and the pipe was just a push fit - This could be the smoking problem ?(Drawing in Un-official Air)

What do you all think ?

Tomorrow I be fully removing turbo ready for inspection

Finally fitted the winter wheels/tyres:

I also fitted SWMBO's - these were my 'old' winter tyres and wheels that I fitted to the Superb last year

Audi A6 5 spokes (7"x16" ET45):

I took the spare wheel and false floor out and fitted a full size winter wheel.

and a Roomster bag in the boot:

and I also fitted rubber mats inside the car.

MOT and service........oh and a Milltek downpipe/sport cat fitted!

Also spent a few hours cleaning the Marauder today.

Washed and aqua waxed, also hoovered out the mats where the dog has got her muddy paws all over them.

Removed the aftermarket stereo headunit which has been playing up the last week or so, originally intending to put the original Skoda HU back in, however after some playing it seems that some of the wiring may have been coming loose from the ISO adaptor and may have been causing the issue. Reinstalled it all and will be keeping any eye on it over the next week or so.

I then removed the glovebox and took out the glovebox bulb assembly in the hope of trying to work out what is causing the Microswitch to remain in the "on" position at all times, will have a play about another day, put the glovebox back in the car for now.

Fitted my new Tinted Mirrors then washed the Car

I've been looking for some for along time and came to the conclusion that it would have to be a main dealer. There are places on EBAY for half the price but if they're not quite right or not what I expected I would only end up at the dealer anyway.

Had the Octi vRS serviced and had an oil leak fixed. Treated the little blighter to a tank of BP super duper diesel :smirk:

Foamed, washed, rinsed and wiped down the Octi vRS, also cleaned the engine bay and bonnet insides, then treated it with 303 Aerospace dressing. Finaly hooverd and treated the windows outside with Halfrauds Rain Repellant.

Fitted new W5W lights in footwells and boot lights on the Superb - much cleaner, whiter light

Brushed the snow off and scraped the windows

Started to fit the replacement Turbo after picking up all the gaskets etc from Skoda.

God i was cold (Working outside)

No sooner did I start it started to rain, so I stopped.

It Stopped raining, so I got all my tools out again, started raining again.

Gave up!

It will have to wait until the end of the week now. No rush

Wet n Dried my headlights, they were pitted and there were marks where the previous owner had stick on reflectors what caused patches of pitting. Now i can actually use them :D

Also put new Bosch wiper blades on the front

Nothing exciting- booked it in for MOT and Cambelt and gave the winter tyres a test down some superb country lanes that I encountered on my work travels.

Picked it up from the dealer, gave it it's first tank of fuel and changed the bulbs to Philips Extremes.

  • 4 weeks later...

Fitted a new fuel filter and changed the headlights

Changed the pollen filter

Drove it to work and back, looked at how filthy it is. :'(

cleaned it and put on my cumbrian run briskoda sticker
