The GT TDi came in 115 130 and 150 variants ;)

Ford chasis are good, as are Mini's chasis' and the 207 does handle pretty well. Done well round the track when i had a passenger run in one. But it didn't feel quick, but the new Cooper S with the same engine but coupled to the 6 speed manual feels amazing compared to the 5 speed GTi

Do they make use of the overboost feature in the 207GTi, like it done with the MCS?

I know, i was meaning that it looked the same as the 180bhp GTI Petrol and was badged the same.

I opted for the SEAT Leon 150 as i prefered the look (and price) over the Golf :thumbup:

The Golk MK IV was a tough one to get right.

I know people who had them badged as just a GTI, but also seen TDI on them, and a few GT TDI... Unless you could see smoke coming from them, or heard the engine ticking over, it was nearly impossible to tell if they were petrol or diesel, and if they were the 180/150 or 130.

I'd heard that the letting was put on by the importers/dealers and it depended what they had available as to whether they were badged GTi or TDi and whether the letters were red or silver or a combination of both.

I suspect a lot of owners of lesser powered models got the wifes nail varnish out to give themselves a psychological power boost :rolleyes:

VW were offering a choice of badges in the UK if bought new (i don't know how long this went on for) as a friend requested his TDI 150 to be badged GTI.

Personaly i would have preffered the TDI badge as they were just as quick in real time driving, making it slightly more annoying for the petrol GTI owners :rofl:

As I remember it, there was less of requests and more about pure pot luck about how your Golf arrived! Don't know whether the badging occurred when they reached the UK, or during PDI or what! Just crazy...

So maybe if it was at PDI the customer might have been able to request it that way...

De-badged is the way forward anyway :thumbup:

I've seen a 130 TDI with a R32 badge on it!!

:eek::rotz:

Easy prey then really and an obvious target for getting embarrassed!
