My New VRS

Featured Replies

Cheers

Look great very nice, should have mine this Sunday

Not happy as my car has still not been delivered to the dealership, they should not have promised me a date that they could not deliver on.Still waiting will post pictures and feedback once I have recived the car.

Just looking at the interior pics and notice that the centre armrest seems to be leather - is this standard on the vRS or have you added one of those after market leather covers?

It's standard and includes climate temp & an audio aux input (non controllable) inside for the Bolero

Lovely car although looks to be riding slightly high??I thought the Vrs FL has been lowered slightly compared to the pre FL?

Well I realise I'm resurrecting an old thread but thought I may as well just add to this one.

Since getting the car I've already had a remap done by Shark Performance, not had it rolling roaded yet but probably upped power to about 240bhp, map is excellent and I'd recommend checking out Ben's work.

Now I've got a few other changes coming up for the VRS over the next couple of weeks.

On Tuesday some Eibach Pro Springs are getting fitted which should improve the look somewhat and also hopefully improve the handling and I'm also getting the rear windows tinted as well, not as dark as Limo tint, something more OEM style.

The next Thursday I'll be paying another visit to Ben at Shark Performance as I'm in the local area to get the OEM Bluetooth fitted as well.

Will get some photo's up when time allows.

Are you still getting 40+mpg? - I am only managing 35.

Not anymore not done any long distance runs for a bit so I'm down about 30 now, will be doing some longer runs over the next couple of weeks so will see how things go.

Not sure what the tint is I just asked for OEM ish, Eibachs certainly worthwhile, improves the look and stiffens up the handling, but can still get over humps etc.

Thanks to mikeSM56 who on Saturday enabled a few things via VCDS for me including:

1. Cornering Fog Lights

I enabled the cornering fog lights last week, but just noticed today that they both go on when you reverse.emoticon-0112-wondering.gif

I was expecting them both to be off when reversing. Is this normal?

BTW, you've left your reg no on your dyno map (seems a waste of time blanking out the plate on all your pics too ;))

Well 1st of all I can confirm that my lights do not come on when in reverse so that remains a mystery. Thanks for all other comments on the car.

This week I have been on holiday in Yorkshire and as far as the car goes it was very enjoyable indeed. I'm impressed with the fuel economy, on my trip I covered approx 1000 miles on a mixture of A/B roads and motorways and achieved an average MPG of 43MPG, which considering I wasn't holding back in any way and was exploiting the handling/performance of the car I don't think that was bad for a remapped 2.0 Turbo.

As for the performance/handling I can safely say the Eibach's make such an improvement in the handling of the car thorough all the twisty A/B roads in the Dales. Hardly any roll in the corners and composed on all the ups and downs. I don't think any ride comfort has been sacrificed either as I found all journeys comfortable even though some of the roads weren't in the best of conditions.

The remap and improved performance were very handy for any overtaking manoeuvres required, quickly dispatching almost anything that got in the way (caravans, trucks, farm vehicles and slow tourists that think 40-45 is an acceptable speed on theses roads). Motorway overtaking and making progress was also a breeze.

To be honest I think you could quite easily lose your licence if not careful, the remapped car accelerates so well in 3rd and 4th you can quickly reach illegal speeds very easily so you have to reign in back after some overtakes.

So if anyone was considering remapping or getting some Eibachs fitted then if you enjoy your driving go for it!

Looks great mate exactly the spec I want my vRS too. Love the non-Chav tints although I was hoping the Eibach drop would be greater to be honest.

Thanks, not sure what % these tints are, I just asked for an OEM look tint.

These photo's were taken a couple of days after the springs were fitted, now that I've used car a fair bit over the last week, its possible the car has dropped a bit more, if not think you'd have to go down the coil-over route to get lower.

Will you be getting yours remapped?

Same colour, tint and Eibach drop spec. Mine will be a company car so diesel with DSG for me. Having seen your pics on my laptop rather than iPhone it looks better. My other mods planned are colour coded grill, a supersprint oval exhaust and possibly some nice OEM style skirts (if such a thing will ever appear for sale in the future)
