Fitting a cup holder

Featured Replies

Been bought a genuine Skoda Cup Holder attachment to suit my 2006 Fabia for a birthday pressie. Does anyone know how easy it is to fit ?? Is it just a knock out of the blank and insert or does it mean pulling the console out ?? Advice greatfully receievd

It is pretty straightforward if I remember correctly from when I did it to my car.

Pull the heater control surround trim off carefully, then prise the top left switch blank (the rectangular bit, or don't bother if it's a heated seat control), couple of TorX screws to be undone, insert the cupholder, assembly is the reverse of removal.

It's a lot easier than I've made it sound :o

Can you tell me where you found it? bought it from please?

I fitted one of these to mine and it took 20 mins start to finish.

However, its a bit sticky in the hole and I have to pull it a little to

get it to come out fully. (oooooer...)

Mine was about £35 inc vat from main dealer...

£35 for that? i'm in desperate need of a cup holder but thats surly expensive? :(

Does seem a bit over the top for something so simple.

I honestly wasn't being smutty.. But I genuinelly want to know if others who have

retro-fitted one of these items have suffered the same problem.

Have they cured the problem somehow cos I'd like to fix mine too.

When I was just holding the unit in my hand it had a CD draw type action, very smooth....

Now it gets stuck a bit and it only pops out about an inch and I have to pull it the rest of the way....

Also guys who think thats pricey... I agree but I just had to have one...

Check Mike Bs link and you'll see that its the going rate for one...

Believe me, if he could post a link to a cheaper one then he would...

I just love wasting money... Thats why I bought a car in the first place hehehe....

Apart from your house/kids a bigger money pit you'll never find...

Once you have fitted it, be careful with it because I've found that the arms that unfold to hold the cup are very fragile...

Might have a word with Pulman Skoda and see if we can get a group buy on them?

Although its not a cup holder, the drawer i have under my stereo does the same thing... very tight! Its a case of half pop it out, then pull it the rest lol its still better than that stupid cubby hole that stuff just falls out of on a hill or when giving it beans

Mine pops out without any trouble, its a bit of a pain to get it to clip back in sometimes though!

i found that soo useful i put my sterio in and wired up the ipod usb to come out through there nice easy pleace to store it with no messy wires!

I use an 8gb usb stick with my alpine... i have it coming out just under the center console bit that juts out... can't see it unless you're really looking for it!

The draws full of nothing but post codes for the sat nav all unlabeled

Has anyone got a picture of one of these actually fitted? I know there is a pic in the above link but its always nice to see one in a real persons car!

Cheers - Dave

Fantastic, thank you very much, i think i will be getting myself one, i have found them on a website called theskodashop.com have you heard of it? they have it up for £31 i think so only a small difference really!

And TBH i don't think that price is to bad! I mean i paid a huge £225 for an armrest for my TT lol and yes i did get a bang to my head when i was young

Thanks - Dave

I'll have one for sale shortly as I've found mine now doesn't unfold with the face of my new Parrot HU attached

Will be putting a for sale ad up shortly, but drop me a PM if you're interested.

Works ok but it is stiff and won't spring out by itself. It needs a little pull to encourage it to open fully. Others have reported the same problem on here.

Also got the official Skoda trim above the stereo.

Since fitting mine, I've used it twice :D

I usually put my bottle of Oasis behind the handbrake.

Fits lovely in there...

The storage drawer is FAR more useful.

And a similar price I believe. Far better value.

Isn't there a tasty double cupholder/coin tray from a Polo that fits in the slot where the cubby is in the Fabia? Sure someone on here posted a pic a while back, still really want one for my car but haven't seen them anywhere.
