"Bing Bong" you have a light out!

Featured Replies

Driving home the other night I was in undated with "bing bong" noises and lights flashing on my dash, I was slightly concerned!

First was to say "you are low on washer fluid please top up" and the next was to say "you have a headlight out please change asap" I was annoyed but at the same time delighted that the little Furby had told me all this!

Anything this car doesn't do? I've only found that it's not very good at making a cup of tea so far :D

Hicksy

ps Oh by the way the bulbs were uprated ones from www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk and haven't had them very long, not impressed, they are sending new ones (dipped and side light)

Very fancy :)

do you have that maxidot display thingy?

No it doesn't, a lightbulb sign with a ! in it comes up.

Does the same thing if a brake light bulb goes too, as I found out the other day. ;)

Try driving it with a broken clutch pedal - car makes a hell of a din beeping at you, trying to tell you something might be wrong ;) Shame it went to the dealer first - would be interesting to see the VAG-COM log for it! :D

  • 2 weeks later...

I reported ages ago that I seem to get the 'bing bong' and accompanying bulb warning light appearing on my car as an intermittent fault .... no one seems to be able to cure it !

I even resorted to doing my own research after reading the long term Fabia VRS report in Autocar and they reporting the same fault. I contacted the garage that had fixed their car - a replacement High Level Brake Light was needed, and managed to persuade my local dealer to do the same. All was well until this morning - 300 trouble free miles after I had had the brake light swapped - I turn on the ignition, reverse the car out of the garage park, get out to find when I get back in the light on the dash is back on !! Then rather bizarre it seems to go through a cycle of beep, light on for about 10 secs then off for about 10 secs then back on .... this went on for about 1 min then all was ok for the rest of my 40 mile journey !!!! What on earth is going on !!! Will probably be ok for about another 30 miles now too so virtually impossible to show to a dealer when it is happening....

Dealer hasn't got a clue and I really dont want them to be ripping trim panels off to check all wiring etc .... anyone got any suggestions ? Would the fault code for this be stored in the log, only delaer reckons that it probably wouldn't ??? Anyone else ever had the same problem - I have checked all of the bulbs even with the warning light on and they are all working fine !!??

Try reseating ALL the bulbs in the clusters and headlights, as well as check the new high level light wiring connection. My old jag was plagued with a bulb failure warning problem. The car thought a bulb had failed even though all worked, turned out the increased electrical resistance caused a fault code.

I've had this problem once or twice.

Problem is when it reported a fault I jumped out of the car had a look at all of the lights and my passenger side Xenon lamp was not on, I switched the lights off, then on and it worked just fine.

As I said this has happened a couple of times and is quite worrying, I'll have my dealer look at this at my next service.

Hi There

Had exactly the same problem, even drove to my local Skoda garage, light came on just as I drove in :) Then when the chap came to look at the car, light out  I have checked all the bulbs everything seems fine. Only seems to come on when I brake for a period of time, bizzare

You will have to learn how to scrub speed off by driving sideways ;)
