Featured Replies

if its the a34 nr oxford then probably on the flyover next to kenington just before abingdon north going towards newbury, sods are there quite regular causing endless holdups, why is that people see a speed camera and hit the brakes, no matter the speed they are doing. *******(the people that organise speed traps in safe places that is)

A34 Radley is what it says, still not convinced, still waiting for the piccie

100mphplus

Thats what I thought ( re 14 days) but guess what.... - they did inform the registered owner -my car is on a lease from Peugeot Contract Hire - they let them know, who then let my employer, know who then let me know - the whole process taking 3 months!

The police in Sheffield wouldn't entertain the "but I wasn't informed" tack that I took and I was duly done!!

that'll be it then stuart, unless they are redirecting the a34 in a process of revenue building

heres one i made earlier

Hows this for unfair - 33mph in a 30 limit - quiet road just before becomes a 40 mph zone:

3 points and

Surely the plod have to notify you within 14 days if they are to prosecute!!!?? or has the law changed since i got caught??? they're all t*ssers anyway!! :finger:

They inform registered keeper at the address DVLA has on file.

Moved home? Tough.

Comapny Car driver?. Tough.

The simple act of putting the NIP in the post means it is deemed to have been "served", they DO NOT have to send it recorded delivery but it MUST be sent 1st class. 14 day limit applies.

Law sucks, doesn't it ?

You can't just "not accept" the tickets. Either you pay up or go to court to argue your case.

Argue in court and lose and you still have the penalty to pay (and take the points).

Oh and court time will cost you too - yours and theirs - estimated at about

Recieved the picture yesterday & its definately my car, reg is easy to read so cant argue that one, just need to toss a coin to see who was driving.

I am assuming that this was the location on the Bridge that Bengie mentioned but I didnt realise that they could take rear shots of cars in this way. Does anyone know the definative answer to that ?

* off topic * my dad got caught last week in the lorry by lothian and borders police!

he got a letter through saying you have been speeding doing 52mph!!

nxt line said speed in the area was 60 mph lol!

and that he had to pay 60 pound fine for not speeding lol

how could you fight that? says on letter that they have a picture of the offence!!

but letter clearly state's that he was only doin 52 in a 60 ( but he was still speeding)

says he is just going to pay it as he dont want the hassle of them and then they take it to court

Tell him to go and double check the limit where he got "caught".

If it is 60, he's home & dry and should write to them pointing out the error.

I think the point is they've put down the speed limit for cars and motorcycles, he will have been over the speed limit for a lorry.

There was a story in the papers down here about a bloke in a white van getting done for a similar offence, 55 on a 60 mph duel carriageway.

It's correct though

On a duel carriageway, even though there may be a 60 or Nat Speed Limit sign displayed, vans and HGV's are restricted to 50mph.

It's in the highway code apparently.

Goods vehicles not exceeding 7.5 tonnes aere permitted to do 70 on a motorway, 60 on a dual carriageway and 50 on a single carriageway. If over 7.5 tonnes the limits are 60 motorway, 50 dual carriageway and 40 single carriageway.

I unfortunatley drove through a specs area on the M2 in Kent 5 mins after picking up my new toy - It was a temporary 50 limit and i was following an XKR at 65-70. Went under both sets of cameras but only realised what they were atfter passing the second one :(

What sort of speed is "acceptable" with specs?

Tell me about it. Bloody 40mph mobile roadblocks on my local roads (all single carriageway). Total madness when all of the rest of the traffic is trying to do 60 and the trucks are holding everything up. It will cause fatalities with head-ons when drivers get impatient to get past. The highway code also says that you should pull over if you are holding up the traffic, but they never do.....

I got sent a pic and said I did not know who was driving but that it LOOKED like my car but could quite clearly be cloned. I said that I acknowledged that I would be prosecuted as I could not prove who was driving. They gave me a court date and I did not go, that was a year ago.

On the A9 there are numerous mobile roadblocks owned by Tesco  They trundle up and down at 40mph followed by queues of impatient cars, some of whom take *real* risks to get past

On the adjacent railway line Safeway containers steam (or diesel :( ) past at 75mph :finger:

Paperwork should still be accurate for the offence IMHO.

I'd question it anyway.

I know its a bit late now but get some form of gps speed camera detector. This was the first thing I fitted to my vRS and it has proved invaluable on many occasions. ( Birmingham recently - detector goes off , could not see the camera but slowed down to check - car behind overtook straight through a GATSO at about 50mph (40mph limit ) - 2 flashes later I went through at about 36mph :D )

At temporary roads works I believe you can only be fined and not have points added.

Aah, another local. I got in a bit of a panic when I first saw those SPECS cameras being put up on the motorway, then realised that they were temporary. Phew. (I think....)

Don't know what the limit is, though if they're allowing 70 in a 50 limit then I can't see the point of them.

Not entirely true ... endorsable on motorway and national-limit dual carriageway. Can't remember other national limit roads. Also, the contractors can apply to the council to have an enforceable limit on urban roads, but that's so much hassle that they normally don't bother.

I expect it'll be some time until I see anything as the SPECS will have processes the fine etc to the previous owner to begin with.

I was looking at GPS systems today LOL!
