was just curious at the possibility of chipping the Current Superb Greenline @ 105 BHP. Is this risky business or is it acceptable.

The same as remapping an Octavia with that engine so should be fine, unless having DPF changes things?

I'd have thought so to, and that's what those environ mentalist models are for, isn't it, remapping?

I've put in a TDI Powerbox from eBay. Gives around 30 extra bhp, maybe more. Works like a charm :-) Costs approx. £25 on ebay.

I assume ECU chipping will void the warranty and probably result in a large insurance premium increase (here in Ireland anyway)

From what i've read the advice is to avoid cheap Flebay boxes...

To the OP - go to a sensible mapper like Shark or PTorque. You don't want a map that'll put too much strain on the small PD105 turbo.

I can name a few members on here that have run analogue boxes and even Evry mods with no real issue - you just have to know what you're letting yourself in for!

Ultimately a remap is the way to go, although (@ Scruffie) any kind of tinkering with the engine will void the warranty and your insurance. AIUI, a remap should get you around 140bhp, based on what you used to be able to get out of the old 100bhp version of that engine...

If it has a DPF, then I would look at getting that removed first, followed by a remap. :)

Now that's a good point regarding the DPF. Those boxes do over-fuel big-time. I used to have a digital one on my old Megane. Actually performed quite well, but it would have given Jason's Fabia a run for its money on the soot front. Yeah, I really wouldn't want one of those on a DPF car.

Aren't we going off at a tangent here? Surely the idea of getting the Greenline is to 'Save The World' so:-

a. Why remove the DPF as that's stopping most of the rubbish going out of the exhaust?

b. Why add a tuning box (if it kicks out "loads more soot") and then remove the one thing that's trying to stop the rubbish that you've just caused?

If you really must boost the power then do as wega3k says; go to a reputable remapper and get a map that suits the car and not the pocket.

You could always get rid of the planet saver and buy a car with the performance that you really want!

Goodbye DPF and hello Check engine light, soon followed by engine failure. These things, despite what the makers say cost about 10P to make and cause the engine to overfuel big time, this in turn causes the DPF to choke full of soot and eventually lead to a repair bill of in excess of £1K.

A proper remap alters boost and timing to match the extra fuel, so is much kinder to the DPF.

That is why i'm getting my wife one, i'm getting €5700 for her old 1999 accord so shop around the dealer, i've rang most munster dealers and they all want to match eachother.

Can't wait now as the spec is also excellent.

If you ignore the Greenline and simply buy an 'S' spec Superb 1.9Tdi you won't have any DPF to worry about! My remapped Superb return combined figures of 54-55mpg, comparable to a standard Greenline?

I wholeheartedly recommend remapping your Greenline as you'll find the engine significantly far more flexible, while, if driven with care the economy may actually improve.

The warranty issue is not an issue, as long as you use a reputable remapper. Indeed, my local Skoda dealer advertises Superchips, however, I instead chose to use a contributor to this site. My car has been serviced once, during which, the remap was not mentioned by the service staff.

I didn't think the 1.9Tdi was fitted with a DPF, or perhaps this is fitted to Greenline versions only?

The Greenline is fitted with a DPF, so any remap will have to be done with care. I have driven both the 105 S and 105 Greenline - my Greenline is quite different to drive, presumably as a result of the different gearing on the 5 speed box. and lowered suspension etc to acheive the lower CO2 figures.

We are gone off the rails a bit here, The reason I asked the question about Chipping / Re-mapping the Green-line is because to qualify here in Ireland for the scrappage Scheme the only Superb that can qualify is the Greenline due to emissions. If I buy a Greenline - annual road tax would cost me €156 / year. If I was to buy a 2.0 TDI common rail 140/170bhp I would be excluded from the scheme losing €1,500 and Annual Road Tax would cost €302. My thoughts are stay with the greenline and gain the €1500 - road tax will be €156 and for approx €250 remap when the Warranty is gone leaving me with a 145 BHP Skoda Superb Greenline. What do you think?

Go for it !! You needn't wait the two years for your remap just get a good one (400 euros from the good lads). I had my turbo and DMF replaced on my remapped Octy under warranty from the main dealers, no problem. Warranty claims are not scrutinised as much here as they are in the UK. If your really worried spend an extra few bob and go for Bluefin or Revo with sps switch so you can remove the remap and put it back on when it suits you.
