I haven't mentioned it to them.

I get it to going over a slight bump its almost as if the car slows itself down. Have a fl Vrs. Could it be the new xds system that was talked about?

Mine hasn't got XDS, and happens with the ESP off as well.

There is a hump like that near us, what the strangers to the area don't realise is that it is immediately followed by a sharp bend and if the car goes too light you don't make the bend.

Simply adding to the list of me too, except I'll throw a curve ball in... 4x4 Superb CR 170. It has to be something new they have added as my old octavia, a vRS and 4x4, never did this and they both had ESP etc.

So there we go, another me too. I can trigger mine at around 30, so it's not speed or air related.

i noticed when driving to porthmadog last week that if I tried to accelerate down some of the long steep hills (where I would usually be cruising or braking) i got the hesitation there too with no humps in sight

I started another thread about this a while ago. The VW group know about this problem but haven't got a solution as yet. I spoke to a VW head tech and they are having the same problem with VW vehicles fiited with this engine.

I am not going to say too much as I got battered on here for alleged scare mongering but the problem exists and Skoda know about it.

Because I regularly drive the same road I now know when this is going to happen. I have found that if I give the accelerator a push as I go over the crest I can negate the effect. No good if you don't know the road though :(

Mine does it in the same places. Perhaps we should all ring Skoda UK and complain. They might do something then.

Used to get this on my old Passat PDI. Only happened on one or two bad crests. Rather have the power cutting than getting wheelspin at unwanted times.emoticon-0103-cool.gif Not provoked the Octavia into doing this as yet but it does have wider tyres and 'sports' suspension.

Note that this is not the intervention of the ESP/traction control, and the car is in no danger of the wheels spinning. It is a more an inappropriate and annoying cut of the power.

As per the original post, my PD vRS did not do it, but my CR vRS does.

Nothing to do with an anti-roll over system? I was warned with a Renault Clio Sport 200 that if you pushed it hard going into the Karousel the car may think it's about to roll and would kill power. No idea if there's anything like that in the VAG cars but the symptoms sound suspiciously similar.

Did anyone get a response from a dealer about this? I've had it from day 1 on my FL vRS CR 170 and it's annoying even if you do just get used to it and come to expect it in certain places.

Cheers.

Just to add, my FL VRS 170 CR estate registered June 2010 has this annoying problem too, surely If enough people complain to Skoda UK collectively they can't ignore us. Do FL petrol VRS's suffer from the same trait ?

Happens to me too, CR 2008 pre facelift.

At first I thought I had lifted off, then that I had tipped the brakes, then that the crest made my foot light, then I gave up thinking about it. :giggle: That cured it until now :S

I just noticed this exact same problem in a 1.6 CR. I just put it down to something I have to get used to.

I pushed it with the dealer and Skoda UK. No fault found so its not a problem(According to them).

We all need to complain to Skoda UK. I have three times.

Did anyone get to the bottom of this yet?

I have this on my 2009 Limited Edition CR, and is annoying to say the least!

There are a couple of hills on the way home, and as you come over the crest on the way down (quite steep) the engine feels as if it cuts out for a second or two before kicking back in again. This only happens if you have your foot on the gas, as if you coast over you feel no effect what so ever. This isn't even speed dependant, as it happens at all speeds! If you were trying to overtake and this happened it could catch you out!

Cheers

Mine's still doing it

Told dealer at service and they could not see/feel it.

I think it's cos they didn't go over the same kind of bump/dip.

From a safety point of view it sucks, the last thing you want when driving enthusiastically through a bend and over a hump/dip is to loose power and all the weight being thrown to the front of the car.

had it on my 58 CR. Still got it in exactly the same places on my 60 plate FL :(

I think I get it on parts of the M42 which have such a poor road surface that the car is constantly being thrown upwards when crossing the boundaries between concrete slabs.

Still experiencing this as well.

Because I regularly travel the same road I have found that if you press the accelerator as you go over the hump, there is a point if you give it enough gas where you can 'stop' the 'loss' of power.

Hard to explain, you have to try it really. Not much good if you don't want to accelerate though which was probably the reason why you were on a trailing throttle in the first place!

Now don't mock me but are you sure it is not a subconscious movement of the foot on the loud pedal... I always cringe when negotiating humps and I know that it sometimes makes me ease off the loud pedal even if I don't intend too... ok now you can mock me :-)
