Wow! 250 squid - that's cheap!!! :)

That's a very good price - is it any good? :D If it is, I'll be adding it to my Xmas list ;)

Does anyone know which navigation software it uses........been looking at Tomtom but if this is comparable?!?!?!

This looks superb.

I've been getting annoyed with the lack of space on my Palm Tungsten T for a while now... Might be time to upgrade!

Has anyone got the product code (Medion) for this item as all the reviews seem to be for an older model (this one looks different to all the ones that google gives me).

Also, any idea what nav software this runs?

What I would say is get down to your local Aldi sharpish on Thursday morning if you want one, or more of these, the decent special offers sell out faster than

Sounds very good.

Does this PDA compare well with other models for price / spec (GPS & Navigation not withstanding).

Says on the blurb includes maps for UK and major roads in Europe, and 4 CD-Roms for western Europe. Does this mean that it has every minor road already loaded for UK, but if require to potter around country lanes in France will need to unload UK minor roads, to free up memory, and load up French data ?

How do you update the maps on an annual basis for new roads / junction layouts ?

Also is there software which exists to download speed camera sites etc. onto this software ?

Thanks for any advice given.

Thanks Gary!

At least we now know what it's based on!

a q from a complete pda numptey these machines have internet explorer how does one access the net away from home and how much does this cost ?

I've got a fairly old XDA now (from O2) and it takes a bog-standard SIM card. As long as it's GPRS enabled, you can access the web from there.

On a standard pda, you can either access the web using the PC's connection when it's sitting in its cradle next to the PC (not much point in that), or you can sometimes get a modem which fits into the pda. Depends on the particular model really.

Friend bought one last year from Aldi's and has had no problems so far.

Now this guy is a fussy bugger and compalins about most things, but hasnt got abad word against this peice of kit

I've added it to my christmas list :)

John

Personally, I'd go for a system with Tomtom navigation. You can get a decent set-up with Tomtom 3 for around

Am I missing something, or does Gary's link offer a similar bit of kit for less money than Aldi's "special deal"?

Edit: Yes, I missed something ... software

You don't get the GPS software or the 256mb card if you buy elsewhere though (well, not that I've seen anyway)...

so where is the best place on-line to buy one of these then?

and how easy is it to load speed camera locations and does it give any form of warning or is it just a mark on the map?

You can buy the complete tomtom kit from the globalpositioningsystems link posted earlier. there are several ways to get the speedcamera database on the pda, I use checkpoint because its free. You get a verbal warning of the aproaching camera and a icon on the pda display screen.

I am using tomtom with the 3.03 update and the latest gps drivers through a bluetooth connection on my ipaq 2210.
