Dead Fabia

Featured Replies

I haven't posted for a while, but I thought I'd share with you a couple of pics of my wife's Fabia. :(

Thankfully, she walked away unscathed. I don't think the car got away as lightly though.

I just wanted to share the pictures as a testament to the safety of modern cars. The front end absorbed all the force and the cabin area is totally intact! I suspect it'll be written off as the airbags and seat belts have detonated and the engine appears to have been pushed back slightly.

I totally agree that's a w/off.

In terms of walking away, indeed, I'm certain the MK I Octy saved my life in a similar situation.

Glad she is ok, and hopefully she is rid of the ringing ears and nasty smell from the air bag explosions. Fingers crossed it will all be sorted out soon.

Can I ask what happened to lead to that, or is it something best not asked?

That's the most important bit, and yes, is interesting to see real examples of how modern cars 'crumple' to absorb

forces of impact, without cabin intrusion. Saying that it can sometimes be surprising how much damage occurs at relatively

low speeds, small price to pay for walking away though.

Deffo a write-off.

We had a sudden dumping of snow last night and she slid down a 100m hill on a minor road and onto a busy a road, via a FIAT Panda. She's got a sore jaw and a bit of a sore right arm.

She tells me she was pressing the horn all the way down the hill.

I suspect when the airbags went off she still had her hand on the horn, I guess the force of the airbag going off (directly under the horn), caused her to punch herself in the face

Yikes! Glad she's OK

Wow, glad she's alirght! As you say, a testement to modern safety, esp. when you consider the Fabia isn't even a 5 star rated car!

Hope those in the Panda are ok too.

The Panda people were ok, their car is in the background of the first picture, I think the drivers side front corner took the brunt of the force.

Interestingly, the Fabia would have been 5 star if the whole range had curtain airbags and not just the L3.

speaking from experience I would put money on her feeling worse by Sunday/Monday, whiplash and those sort of injuries seem to wait a couple of days before they really start to hurt.

Interesting about the 5-star status too.

Looks like their Panda didn't last that long unscathed, by the looks of the reg plate...

That's weird, it's actually a 58 plate, but when I compressed the picture it's made it look like a 59?!?!?!

Strange! As that's what I thought too. Mind you the photo's a bit light and over exposed in that corner so could easily have been an 8 or 9....

Bit of T Cut  Glad your misses is OK

and the engine appears to have been pushed back slightly.

:o no sh!t

glad all are ok

Sherman Tank?

PS: Despite the connotations with the accident that killed the fabia, this suggestion is still serious :))

I'm now thinking Yeti 1.2T SE. I'll see waht the insurance offer first!

Ouch indeed, really glad she's ok though.

Id get the Yeti, hope the insurers dont try and rip you off  Glad everyones OK but you killed a Panda, poor little thing :'(

Panda seems to have come off a little better, they are strong little cars.

Panda looks like it came off better, but apparently the passenger broke 4 ribs, so I think I'd rather the car suffered than the missus!

Luckily I have access to Glasses guide, so I know exactly what to accept from the insurers!

Wife says she wants another Fabia, but I'd prefer a Yeti
