This is the situation.

Mk 2 Octavia with DSG box and standard non-multi function, non-paddle steering wheel.

Possibility of a VW Mk V Golf wheel fitting to provide the missing items, but you have a VW badge on the airbag, or

the possibility of a Scirocco/Golf GTi flat-bottomed sports wheel to with all the buttons and paddles.

So, do you

1. stick with the original, with none of the functionality, but keeping the Skoda badge

2. go with a round MF and paddle wheel with the VW airbag

3. go the whole hog and have the flat-bottomed sports MF and paddle wheel with the VW airbag

I wonder - if the poll says Skoda only then will you take off the new wheel!

Then again, as you've had it for a full 8 hours now, maybe you're getting bored with it already?

Have you noticed how the new VW wheel emphasises the maxidot display?

Please rearrange the following letters to make a well-known 8-letter word :-

S L O B C O K L :p

Flat bottomed and I D M X A T O emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Forget the badge - the flat bottomed wheel is lovely! And you can always stick a transfer over the VW badge.

Very nice

Those wheels are available as options on Audi's in Australia, at $800 (480 pounds) extra!

Needless to say we told our Audi dealer to get nicked and they ended up throwing the wheel in as a no charge extra.

Why not get one that's flat at the top as well?

:giggle:

The only paddles needed on this car were through the front windows to help steer it in wet weather...

Seriously though, no contest, the flat bottomed Scirocco/Golf GTi has it.

I like the flat-bottomed VW wheel with paddles but then I would ;)

you know, one cant help loving the old flat bottom can one

or

tha nose wot kid tiz brill that theer flatty bumbum

yes keep it !!!!

If only that flat bottomed wheel was available with a Skoda badge... as standard fit (or even an option)...

Flat bottomed if I have to

Sounds daft but will the cover over the airbag from the Skoda not fit the otehr wheels - looks liek a straight swap (or if not the badge is!)

i voted "flat bottom". In fact the flat bottom-ness of the wheel is of zero value or benefit BUT the rest of the wheel is lovely to hold - I ran a Mk5 GTI with this wheel or 3 yrs prior to the vrs - its very nice to hold..

however..(!) give you already have done the work to swap to the "round" vw I'd personally struggle to go to all that trouble to swap again - just to get a very marginal improvement.

as others have said, I'd also want to put a skoda sticker/vinyl over that vw badge :)

I would go for this one, it's in keeping with the theme of the car :) :)

Why can't you get a Skoda multi-function wheel?

Sorry, I don't get flat bottomed wheels  even if the rest of the wheel looks nice.

Where can u get one of those precious flat multifunction steering wheels? emoticon-0104-surprised.gif

Any estimated price?

Would it be necessary to reprogram/change anything? Vag-Com?

Check out UK and German ebay on a regular basis for golf GTi or R32 steering wheels (lenkrad in German).

Depending on your car, you might also need a new steering wheel controller and airbag wiring loom to make it work.

I have to give big thanks to Ben at Shark Performance for having the know-how to make it happen

On a pre-facelift Octavia the only MF wheel was a 4-spoker, and I didn't fancy having a vRS that looked like an Elegance or L & K (with no disrespect intended to the owners of those models). The electrics of the facelift Octavia are different to the pre-facelift, such that at the moment there are compatibility issues. I'm not overly keen on the facelift steering wheel anyway, but would have put up with it.

The feel of the wheel is 100% better than the round one. You're obviously more taken by round bottoms than flat ones.

Each to their own

I love it

Flat bottommed wheel looks lovely. Get a Skoda badge for it :)

The Skoda airbag is a different shape unfortunately :(

I notice no dual-zone climate either emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Looks like the flat bottom wheel is on to a winner in the poll.

I quite fancy one now.....
