Above is a chopped really rough mock-up of my car with rear wiper and rear Octavia vRS badges deleted. Opinions?

I don't think losing the rear wiper is that big a deal, especially with Rain-x.

Here's an estate with the rear wiper removed...

  • Leave it along for 2 reasons. 1. The badge is there to show that their barry'd up shed has been kicked around by a Skoda, 2. The rear wiper means you get a good view of their faces as they cry over

Remove both !

Much much cleaner looking. :)

2. The rear wiper means you get a good view of their faces as they cry over their faux-fur dash.

Cool - just read on golfmkv.net 'NO VAGCOM IS NEEDED WHEN PERFORMING THIS MODIFICATION, once the motor is disconnected the rear wiper becomes disabled and fluid will not come out of the hose if accidentally triggered.'

darren - Skoda badges are definitely staying front and rear, as is front vRS badge.

You're as bad as Bryan Nick! Itchyitis.

Ask yourself this, if you'd got the new car, would you be thinking of ripping bits off of it just for it to be a little bit different?

Much that I like Rain-X, I don't think it can do quite as good a job as a windscreen wiper!

Yes. The rear Octavia vRS badge was coming off the white one for certain.

Does rain-X stop mud and dirt clinging to the window? I have to wash my rear window more often than just wipe it.

Steve

I took the other route and added Fl badging to my pre FL!

Leave the wipe in - folly removing

Yuk!!

Leave well alone

Having driven an estate octy for years, the rear wiper is essential in the UK. The mud and crap that the back of the car accumulates is truely astronomical. its quiet possible in just a few miles to lose visibilty totally through dirt, not water build up. RainX wont work on the back window as it needs airflow to clear the water, as the back of the car creates a vortex there is little if any airflow in the correct direction. The hatch might be better though, just as my superb without a rear wiper is fine.

Rediculous!!!

Remove the rear wiper..stupid decision.IMO

Badge ..up to you but whats the point?

Your spelling I think.

Having driven my estate now for a month-ish I would say you really REALLY need the rear wiper.

Badges - yep, already taken my fl "octavia" badge off the rear, almost took the vrs one off too but its still on there (for now). I'm a fan of subtle cars..

both mods reversible so you could try it out? You prob won't need the rear wiper at all in the summer months?

Just to clear up the "wiper is essential on an estate" comments...

Your is the Hatch in the first picture isn't it ?

I removed the wiper on my Mk1 Hatch, didn't miss it once. :)

Yes, mine's the hatch. Good to know it's not needed. I must admit I never really have it on when I'm driving.

I'd leave the wiper as i couldn't be arsed to remove it and fill in the hole :giggle: :giggle:

Defo remove the badge though.

Been thinking about doing it to mine for some time. The badge that is not the Wiper.

Here is a better pic to give you an idea Nick. I did a bit of touching up on this to see what i thought it would look like and quite liked it. I just haven't got round to doing it.

Here's the guide, to removing the rear wiper on the mk5 golf, can't see it can be much different on the Octy....

Is this what people start doing when they are running out of things to Mod? :)

yup :)

Only thing i would do is apply rainx or similar. As if it's been standing overnight, the rain can gather.

But as soon as you move, the water rolls off.

Just do it !!

Is it the same as the Mk1 where are you need is a 25mm (or there abouts) rubber grommet to go through the glass ?
