build week

Featured Replies

I'm in Ireland (Dublin) and ordered in late Feb. My guy says it's build week 20 (beginning 17th May) and then 2 weeks to Dublin. I reckon he's a bit optimistic on delivery myself. Whatever happens it'll be at least 14 weeks wait. It's a family estate. Not a fricking Lambo.

just got a phone call bob to say that it was on board the ship and hopefully would be ready for collection this month

I don't see any point in taxing it before 1st of May,so if it arrives end of month I will ask dealer to wait until 1st of May to tax it, because I have courtesy car at present, and I don't need the Scout for holiday until mid May

I suspect it will take longer to get to Inverness than carlisle anyway.

Finally been given a build date of week starting 26th April ordered on 15th of Feb.

Also had a Scout built last week and hoping its onboard the "City of Rome", due into North Shields tomorrow afternoon. Car was ordered on 13 Feb.

Hi Geoff,

Snap!! mine is a 1.8TSI i n Cappuccino Metalic, so must have been on the same production run.You live nearer to Tyne than me so you will get yours first I would think.

Regards Bob Wilson

Just Spoken with my dealer and have been informed that a message has been posted on the system informing them that all scouts have been delayed by 4 weeks - mine has slipped from week 17 to week 21 ordered 1st week of March, and this has taken a bit of chasing to find out, I am now seriously looking at canceling and getting something different. I have never had to wait 14 weeks plus delivery for a new build mass produced car - its not as if I have added any bloody options either just black paint and a spare wheel

Im seriously confused, after your post Ive spoken to Skoda UK. The notification re cars to be delayed went out to the dealers a couple of weeks ago, at least thats what I was told. Our Scout was ordered 12/2, due to be week 17 build, my dealer checked yesterday & the build date is week 17, 08/05/02. Im not going to hassle him again to recheck but with all these rumours I guess I must be prepared to be disapointed.

Like you Im pretty miffed already, when I ordered Skoda were telling the dealers 10-12 weeks delivered & here we are late & looking to be later.

Snag is Bob that I can't get any confirmation that it is on the boat. Dealer being very vague today, and after seeing the latest posts on here I'm wondering if there is a connection! Have to wait and see I guess.

My Dealer cofirmed last week that my car was out of production, and he now had an order number which is only issued when the car is built and shipped to Emden. So I cannot see any delay in parts problems.Only the ship to Tyne has not been con firmed.

I presume your dealer now has an order number for your car.I would ask him if this is the case .

Like You I went on the 10 to 12 weeks - and explained to the dealer that I was getting hassle from my management to replace my existing car but that the 10 to 12 was acceptable, if the notification went out 2 weeks ago then that would explain why the salespeople were not calling me back to deliver the bad news !!! delays if told up front i can deal with then set expectations with other people, kept in the dark ****es me off. time for a little chat tomorrow

Lazy czechs! My Scout was this week to be built (ordered last week on Feb). Will call next week to see is it out of production.

Could you update us on the result of this, CEPi? I'm thinking of cancelling my order. There's no point in being dragged into a 3rd/4th month of waiting. It'll almost be 2011!

Sure thing buddy. I've spec'ed many company cars in the company i work for (Audis, Toyotas,Ford, Merc etc) with endless options and most I've waited was for a Merc E350CGI Coupe, 10 weeks, all others withing 6-8 weeks.

Skoda is taking the p**s now with 3-4 month cars, Bentley makes 'em faster.

Hehe.

Thinking about it. I can't believe that you could order a custom spec Mercedes and then have to wait longer for a Skoda. I'm thinking that maybe the Eastern Europeans just aren't used to Western/Non Continental attitude to ordering things at the last possible minute ! :giggle:

I don't know what I'll order if I cancel my current Octy. It's the car I've been eyeing up for a long time and after seeing so many of them on the road today I guess I'll have no choice but to wait.

Just a shame my dealer won't tell me a thing. It's really bothersome. UK dealers seem to be far more obliging when it comes to Customer Care than in Ireland. :(

Well obviously dealers don't sell many new cars around here, so once you put the order with the, they will do 110% to keep you updated and rush things as much as they can. They even tell you whats on stock at same company dealers around neighboring countries in case you are in a rush and they might get you something next week if available.

You always get good service in poor countries ;)

How long have you been waiting since ordering?

Also

what part of the country did you order?

I will ordering down here in Cork

I plan on buying a cr170 Vrs this year with the leather option. I was told it would be 8 to 12 weeks from order to delivery.

Does this sound right?

This suits me fine as I cannot change until 21st August anyway

Hi Vectra!

I ordered on February 22nd; so I've been waiting nearly nine weeks. I've ordered at a particular Dealership in Cork City. I think you know the one! ;)

The dealer has been very pleasant but isn't very willing to oblige with details I'd like - such as build date; even a basic delivery date.

Which dealer quoted you 12 weeks? And with that - was it in the last two weeks to reflect the fact of the recent delays?

My order is for an Elegance 1.6TDI, Black Metallic with Spare Alloy Wheel and MDI.

Hi again.

It was NOT a dealer in the City..

More between Mallow and Killarney :smirk:

It was only last week I got my quote.

My current car is Black and will never again get one

Either white or Race Blue next time round for me

cheers

If you do go ahead with the order I'd suggest that the dealer commit to providing you with a build date. It's the least they could do!

When we ordered Skoda UK were telling dealers 10-12 weeks max (bit of a porkie it turned out) but possibly thats what the factory had told them. We ordered 12th Feb, build week 17 at the moment so should be here by the end of may (Scout Diesel, few extras) Different models will have different delivery dates & you may be lucky to spec a car thats in productiobn but not assigned to a purchaser yet. The more extras you want or if you want a less popular colour theres less chance of this.

When a dealer takes your order he can not give you a build date, it takes a while after its been placed before the date is given on the system. Best you can do if your trading in is insist you get a loan car after a certain number of weeks when placing the order but bear in mind this is at the dealers discretion & cost. Skoda UK will not contribute to this as with all things they hide behind "your contract is with the dealer, not with Skoda" Also pay the min deposit you can. I will be happy to wait as its the car I want & I negotiated a stonking deal but I still remain amazed at what a shower skoda seem to be these days, lets hope the delay means they are concentrating on building them properly & not rushing them. Weve only ever waited longer for one car, the Abarth 500 & that was because I placed a pre launch order but boy was it worth the wait !!!!!!

My Scout ordered on 10 March is out of production, it was week 16 build so this week, and it is out of production awaiting transport which should take 2 weeks.

Stuart,

I'm intrigued regarding your trade-in comment and the hire car.

When I ordered my VRS on Monday, the dealer gave me a trade-in price based on an expected 12-16 week delivery date for the new car; so, in effect, I've agreed a price for my car that enables me to keep driving around in it now and (between us) we've estimated the likely mileage when my car is built.

They certainly didn't insist on having my car now, nor did we discuss the possiblity of a hire car - have I missed something?

Cheers,

H

Wow that's pretty fast ! Hopefully all will go accordingly CEPi! :)

Tempted to phone my own dealer but I'm wondering is there really any point..

Left hand drive i guess takes a little longer then right hand ones.
