I called my Mark I Octy Olga (Built like a shot putter from eastern Europe but gets the job done better than the prettier options from western Europe :p ) and the current Mark II Otka (Czech name meaning 'lucky' - definitely too pretty to be another Olga ). Has anyone else named their car?

My dad started the trend by naming the last few cars he had Gertie Galant, Orla Orion and Betsie the car that would only start after about 10 tries...

Funnily enough my old volvo was called Gertie .

My Octy has been given the impressive title of 'Barricade by my son as it looks very similar in profile to the sneaky decepticon police car from the movie Transformers while being astronomically more practical than a real Saleen Mustang. Not that I could ever afford one.

It will look even more so with the arrival of Brimma's black alloys

I haven't given any names to my Octy but whn i open the garage door every morning i greet her with a '' hello baby '' and at times even talk to her especially when I wash her .

All of our (3) Octy's have been "Yoda the Skoda" before those we had "Noel the Leon" and "Nora the Bora", can you spot an unimaginative theme here !!??

Yes, but only because she told me she was called Samantha. I only "give" cars a name when they tell me what their names are.

As a man, I do not give inanimate objects names.

So it is called 'my car'.

I call mine "Father Jack" - dressed in black and "feck's off"!!!

Strangely neither the Corolla or the two Avensises my parents had over the same time as having the cars that had names were ever called anything - probably for the same reason I've never thought to name my washing machine or fridge :p...

no cant say I have named the Octavia. Named the fabia Smokey Joe, as it was a smokey lil chap at times. My friend named her fabia Charlie though she is a girl so maybe that explains it she named all her cars, the last being called Alan.

Mine's called Clive.

My vRS is called 'Skody', her Fiesta is called 'Fester'.

Before that, I had a Focus called 'Ebony' (that was the name of the model) and she had a Ka called 'Katrina'

My first car was a god awful Daewoo Matiz 0.8, and that was affectionately known as 'The Duchess'.

I just took delivery of Vladi's brother - Ivan. They were both built in Week 10 and I know Vladi's owner which is how we've decided they are cousins :p

When our kids were little they had names for our cars but we haven't bothered since they grew up. We had a Golf called WOV cos that was its registration WOV , a Passat called "Jeeves" cos its registration was GVK, and a Polo called "Minty" (their cousins had a Polo and a Montego dubbed "Minty" and "Monty").

Might think about calling my Scout, "BP" after Baden Powell and all that. Maybe not.
