Hi, 5000 mls since Dec 20 something 2009! And don't call me PATHETIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just under 30,000 km since December 2009.

No squeeks, no rattles (except for the rear license plate) 1½ liter oil consumption. No leaks - no sunroof and don't want one either.

One assembly error - loose clamp on turbo connexion to tailpipe - fixed in 15 minutes. Xenon still not fixed, but basically no problem. Skoda DK are just as un-responsive as SUK seems to be.

Mine will clock up the magic 10K miles when I go to collect the kids from school this afternoon.

Will celebrate by treating it to a new oil filter and 4.5 litres of Mobil 5w 30 this weekend. It's on the variable servicing regime but I feel uneasy about waiting what looks to be at least another 9-10K miles before changing the oil.

Are your headlamps sometimes only lighting up one lamp rather than both? If so it's the control module at the back of the xenon unit that needs replacing.

If that is your problem I can give you the part numbers and you can get them ordered with your local garage.

Yes James, It is the same as happens in UK auto-lighting versions. When the headlamps try to start ata the same time as the engine, one of the xenons don't make it and goes out. In my case always the left one. headlamp fault light comes on.

It takes an engine stop- lights off and re-start with lights off to clear. When engine running, lights can be turned on normally.

I think the lov´cal dealer knows the part numbers, but are having a tizzy with the importer to get the fix released under warranty.

I guess it will not hurt to give them the part numbers again.

I take it that Skoda UK will allow the replacement of the units FOC then.

My early Yeti suffers from this very occasionally but I was led to believe that the 'fix' was a software update that mine had just before I took delivery. The software fix has not worked.

It's not really a problem as I simply make sure that the lights are not in 'Auto' before starting up. I suppose though that it should be properly fixed, as things like this have a habit of becoming a real problem as a car gets older.

21,600 miles on a 4x4 Elegance purchased October 2009. 1st service at 18000 miles at a cost of £170. Nearly ready for a fresh set of tyres. Items replaced: Windscreen, front nearside wing, headlight, front bumper & bonnet (I hit a skip!). I've also had both back doors resprayed, clear plastic covers and mudflaps fitted due to excessive stone chipping. Rattles galore, but am generally very happy with it. :)

2,500 miles in three weeks. Its been a joy in the monster. I only have two gripes - 1) wish I'd opted for the bluetooth for connecting my iPhone  and 2) the pillar between front and back doors (is it the B pillar, not sure?) seems to block the view to the left at junctions on the roads I generally drive on. Apart from that thoroughly enjoying it!

Does anybody know if its easy to retrofit the bluetooth for the bolero?

Just got around to doing the oil change (only 3 weeks late!) and I think it very worthwhile doing.

I know that diesels tend to blacken their engine oil but the stuff that came out did feel a little bit gritty and the filter whilst clearly doing its job, looked like its time was almost up. I definitely am happier that the next 10,000 miles before the dealer does the next service will be with fresh oil and filter.

The job is pretty straightforward although removing the undertray torx screws, all eleven of them, is a bit fiddly - some are size 20 and the others 30. The drainplug comes undone quite easily although it is difficult to get a direct grip on the top of the filter particularly as it is secured with a quite large (32mm) head. It seems to be almost deliberately hidden by pipes and cables as well.

The bit that I was dreading was actually a doddle and that was removing the plastic engine cover. It looks as though you could easily snap it and break it but if you gently ease up the four corners, it is simply secured by four largish push fit plugs.

I was also surprised at the amount of oil that came out and needed replacing - best part of 5 litres when I expected just over 4. Before anyone comments, I was very careful not to overfill the sump as this can lead to probelms with the DPF and potentially could prove catastrophic to the whole engine if considerably overfilled. I also took care to renew the large 'rubber band' washer around the head of the filter housing and also renewed the drain plug with its integral washer. The Audi parts people I bought the filter from included these extra bits in the filter box.

The whole job took about an hour and a half but I reckon the next time I could probably do it in half that. I also discovered how much extra soundproofing is wrapping these engines - virtually the whole of the underside of the sump and quite a bit of the gearbox are covered. The undertray itself is quite thick with ribbing that is clearly there for stengthening as well as sound deadening. I started the engine up before refitting the top cover and undertray and you can tell the difference.

Cost of the 10,000 mile 'party' - £6 for genuine filter and plug and £30 for 5 litres of Mobil 1 5w30 VW507 00.

Thought I'd revist my original post... 4 years and 9 months in and I've clocked up 89,000 miles. There must surely be someone who's well up in the 100,000's by now....any over 200,000 maybe?..

He doesn't own it any more but James I sold his Yeti last year with over 100k on it. Skoda wrote a little 'ditty' about it - I think his now in a BMW :dull::rofl:

Would think that our Welsh friend Graham must be up to nearly 90000 miles by now.

Tony

My Brother's is around 120,000 miles now.

A red 110 tdi 4x4.

All he's had done to it are a new clutch and 2 front dampers.

He still likes it so much he was going to buy from the lease company for his wife.

Mine hit 89k on the way home last night.

15500 in 27 months so hardly a high miler

Just checked back on miles at a similar age for previous cars.....46000.... But I was working then.....and probably contemplating a swap but I think I will hang onto the Yeti

Just to chuck mine in the hat, 19000 in 11 months.

As with other owners/drivers, it goes like a train.

Just on 40mpg overall.

Quite a spread of mileage out there!

Mine has started behaving of late (the last issue was having to have a new timing chain fitted). It was a dog for the first 60-70,000 miles with about 18 warranty / service issues - my rants are in other Briskoda threads for those who dare look! Fingers crossed it's behaving now. When I bought it in the first place it was to be as a keeper, so lets hope the terrible-teens are over for my Yeti.

It would be interesting to hear from other high mileage 1.2TSi's. Given that the 1.2 is such a small and light engine it would be interesting to hear what mileage clutches / brakes / dampers are typically being replaced etc? I'm guessing these things will last longer than on the heavier 4x4's and diesels?

175100 miles on 05 octavia estate

Already at 11K miles in a tad over six months - really great car.

Have you been following me? I have done 19,000 in 11 months also.

Must keep a check on my rear view mirror for another Yeti going everywhere with me!

62k in 34 months. Will probably hit 90k by this time next year.

I've done 278 miles in mine! :0)

Hi 137699,

Maybe it's vice versa. I'll have to watch my mirror more often.

Still I was down in Southampton a couple of times last year so we may have past each other.

Slightly off topic but a college of mine would buy cheap old Honda's for work ,for their reliability and was quite proud when he took in his old s/h accord for a service at 250,000 with no recorded problems, the service manager took him to look at an even older accord with original engine ,gearbox, clutch etc with over 450,000 miles on the clock which was in for a service?
