Apologies for being in old fart mode today (see post warning about taking jerry cans of fuel from Ireland to UK), but I had a look at my intake and thought two things:

1. Surely the amount of air that can get into the intake is limited by the size of the slot in the slam panel (I think that's the right name). An intake any bigger than this could be a waste of time and effort, although from what everyone's being saying, perhaps the area of the slot is bigger than I think.

2. The OEM intake has a splash barrier and a bypass drain to prevent hydraulicking if water gets into the intake opening. I don't know if this is part of the intake unit, or if it's attached to the slam panel, but It may not be a good idea to remove it if you live anywhere floody.

Right, now I've got those things off my chest, I'll get my finger out of my ar5e and stop being an old fart. Promise ;)

It was stiff I'll admit, but I used a flat screwdriver to get more leverage on the clips. ;) Likewise I used the butt of the screwdriver to tap in the new one and ensure its "in there" Nice satisfying sound getting a good click! after a good whack! with the screwdriver :D

What error???

What error???

The MAF sensor plug was disconnected to allow easier access to the screw on the airbox mount. I would tend to agree if I had a stubby screwdriver, but the one I used had about a foot long blade on it, and reached down there with ease. Even had a magnetised tip so I didn't drop the screw down on to the engine cover. :D

I have posted another link in the second post (by Neo VR) which should now give access to the missing photos.

Thanks a lot!!! Perfect!! :D

what would you say is better to have cupra intake or a k&n 57i

Essentially you need air and fuel to make the "bang" in the engine. On a diesel' date=' especially a remapped one, the car tends to run rich (ie there is more fuel than can be burnt going into the engine) and fuel is coming out of the exhaust partially burnt. To make a car run less rich, more air can be put into the engine which means more of the fuel is burnt (resulting in a bigger bang and the car accelerating faster). The ideal fuel/air mix is where all the fuel is completely burnt.

So basically the Cupra intake is a way to feed more air into the engine because it has a wider neck than the standard one. :)

I have no idea - I guess it depends where the bottle neck is :D Personally I've not bothered with the cupra intake and went for a Green panel filter, but I doubt you'll see significant gains with either :D

Chris

Is the green panel filter easy to fit even for the clueless like myself like the cupra intake is supposed to be?

Green panel filter is easier to fit than the cupra pipe.

Just unscrew the cover, whip the old one out, drop the new one in, job done!

Yep - what he said! Two philips screws on the right hand side of the airbox is all that holds the cover on. Infact the Cupra intake only involves undoing one screw. :)

I think I will give "the Cupra-Intake" a go...;)

(I think I will buy me a "Green Cotton" filter too..)

What are the part numbers in Sweden??!!

6LL129621 [Trumpet]

6LL129618 [Pipe]

I mean are thoose partnumbers the same in my country?! :D

Thanks,

Unless you have a strut brace and then it's a right pain in the ar$e ;) Still, I now only have one screw to undo on the airbox next time I clean my filter :rofl:
