The next generation Yeti

Featured Replies

That's true but new owners are being conditioned to expect more and more 'gadgets'. I looked on the new Audi A8 with an Apps facility with some horror. Cars are going to have to drive themselves more and more if the 'drivers' are going to be fiddling with Ar$sebook and Tw@tter updating.

I am amazed how much distraction there is just finding a music folder on a media card. I am schooling myself not to use the units finer facilities when the Yeti is moving! Even using the phone moving is too risky except to answer a call.

I dread to think of one of those BMW drivers or similar coming towards me with virtually a whole computer built in accessed by that knob thing, and trying to use it!

This thread is taking on the "my daddy can beat your daddy" syndrome.

What I would really like fixed is the light ion the boot. It is just about useless.

I don't think I've found a car in the last 10 years that had an effective boot light!

That's why I have one of those sticky -back LED lights from the pound shop on mine

And I've got a couple of motorbike LED DRL's to fit in parallel with the current boot light.

electric passenger seat!

I would like to have seatbelt not on warning light and sound for back seats also.

And I would like to change these 1,5liters bottle holders in doors for 0,5liters. Who cary 1,5ltr bottles in doors?

Well if you do please take some pics!

I put the rear seat in the boot on Sunday and it worked perfectly. I do not have a spare wheel and so the seat sits nicely in the boot and the height of the seat is the same as the top of the bumper. I put a towel on the seat and over the bumper and my son was a very happy camper. His legs hang nicely over the bumper so I can de-boot him with ease. I took some pictures but I can't work out to load them up.

This would not work very well with an adult unfortunately as the depth of the bumper is quite large which makes it awkward. It is not as good as a sliding out device but for a once a week job it will do me through the rugby season.

Well there you go! The Yeti rear facing seat! Thanks Edmundblackadder!

Erm

How does the seatbelt work with that rear facing seat???

It doesn't. It is NOT to be used when the car is moving. I only do it for getting my son out of his muddy rugby gear on a Sunday morning. I put the seat in the boot, as per the pictures, sit him on, on top of a towel to keep the seat clean, get his muddy boots and socks off etc., get him in clean gear and then he sits back in the front of the car and I put the seat back. It is a bit of a palaver but it is the best of a bad bunch of options. That is why, in this wonderful fantasy thread, we asked for a proper slide out/fold out seat.

I'm loading and off-loading heavy kit all the time out of the back and I've already slightly scuffed the lip of the bumper in one place - very annoying as you can't really do a repair on the bare plastic bumper. I've got a stainless steel rear bumper guard fitted but, to be honest, this is just cosmetic and doesn't offer any real protection to the lip of the bumper where items are going to catch.

I am using a heavy duty rubber sheet as a bib now but would still like a good, heavy duty bumper guard with a lip to do the trick.

There's nothing on the internet at the moment so, anyone got any good ideas on how to do a DIY job?

A sliding seat coming out of the boot. This allows you to sit on it to take off your muddy boots before getting into the car. I am sure I have seen these on posher 4 x 4's. This would be an extra, not a standard fitting but I would pay for it.

Does the variable boot floor option not slide out over the bumper as it does on the Superb? This would make an ideal temporary seat.

(question aimed at those with the variable boot floor not EdmundBlackadder)

It is worth sending this ebay seller a message as you see he does a protection strip for many other cars (he does protection strips for the door sills on the Yeti).

I know one of the items i saw they were available in carbon fibre effect also, so this would cover any existing scratches.

I have also seen this type available for the Superb - but they are not cheap!
