Buying advice - normal Vrs' vs' Ltd Edition

Featured Replies

Howdy,

Considering a Furby Vrs and been scouting around autotrader and the like,

Looks like the LE's are significantly more expensive (well asking prices anyway) that normal Vrs's.

Other than a one off colour and full leather, what else does the premium buy you?

I really don't see the LE being a collectors item, so just wondered what peoples views where before deciding which cars to go look at.

many thanks.

Nothing else IIRC, just the colour and leather. You get an embossed number in the seat to designate its number in relation to the total.

cruise control and 6-disc multichanger were also fitted as standard

can't remember if the sunset glass was also an extra, or if normal vRSes had that too

IIRC it was something like £2500 of extras for only a grand more than the normal RRP

Wow, mega quick replies - Cheers !!

Mmm, so not an awful lot to justify the premium on what was effectively a run out model then.

they were also the last ones, so on average are likely to have fewer miles.

Cruise control can be added for less than £200, as can tints I expect. Leather about £800. Unless you like the colour/ leather not much point really. Although resale might stay higher.

Find a dealer that has an LE for sale and ask how much they will give for you LE.

They will tell you that due to the MKII Fabia vRS demand has dropped off.

Try to buy one and it will be a much sought after car.....

The LE has red brake calipers instead of the boggo version's green.

It's not an "LE" - it's a limited edition "SE" = Special Edition...

The posts above have mentioned all the bits - here's the list in full, with the approx prices of the options had they been added to a normal vRS:

Race Blue paintwork - £300 except it wasn't available in this colour only Red, Yellow, Black or Silver

Leather Seats - with embossed number on backrest (but not leather doorcards) - £1,300 for ordinary ones

CD Changer - £275

Cruise Control - £125

"Sunset" Glass - not available on the vRS - standard on the Sport

Red Calipers - not available

So roughly £2k+ extras

Price new approx £13,010 - compared to £12,375 (?) for the standard car?

And very expensive secondhand... Even the publicity brochures command high prices!

The other curious thing is that it appears not to be recognised by the insurance industry's insurance quotation computer database...

Hello

You will probably end up paying for all the little extras on a SE Fabia VRS with price comparison to normal Fabia VRS.

Suggest unless your buying a SE VRS and put in moth balls, save your money and get a non-SE.

Seen SE going for £9000 reg 2007 with £6000 for same year non-SE Fabia VRS.

Its your choice I know, but do the numbers eh.!

Good-luck, and let us all know the outcome.

I think like for like mileages and like for like sales methods (eg don't compare dealer prices with private sales) won't have that great a spread (for instance my 2004 vRS was put up at £6k) - but still maybe £2k...

Like I've mentioned in other posts, for my first year of insurance no-one knew of it, so I had to insure it as a normal vRS with added extras.

the next year, Admiral (and therefore Bell, Elephant and Diamond) had a Fabia vRS SE listed, but it was a 4-door saloon !

I'm sure in my trawling of insurance sites each year, some have said SE, some have said Ltd Ed

I hate insurance.

My 1.2 fabia is £500 a month, a VRS is £600 now. When I was going to buy the VRS was quoted £2k, which is why I got the 1.2 instead last year. Totally rageing its dropped so much within a year as I'd love to get a VRS! The SE adds an extra £30 to the quotes I get.

£500 a month?! :o:o Why on earth is it so much?

There's loads of threads on this, try searching for some of the others. 9 grand will get you sooooo much more car than a 3.5 yr old Fabia VRS. A low mileage Octy 07 plate for starters.

only 21 ;) Kicking myself though cause I wanted a vrs in the first place but at 1600 for insurance last year I decided to get the 1.2 since that was 700. Now, one year later the vrs is only £100 more! :(

It's really making me want to sell up and get a VRS, although I did say I'd save up money and get something fancy like a s2000 or Z3/4 when I was 22, since I didnt get the vrs and insurance drops again by a bit.

Touch choice, get a VRS now? or wait and get a poser mobile.....

Only 21! You're still a spring chicken with plenty of years left to get yourself a f***ymagnet before you enter your midlife crisis. I'm only saying that cos a (single) chap at work is 52 and has got himself a Z4. Get yourself an SE whilst they're still relatively fresh. You'll not regret it. The slightly upmarket interior will give you a touch of luxury whilst the torque will put a smile on your face.

  • 5 months later...

Sorry to ask a silly questions do they come with locking wheel nuts as standard?

Perhaps he's not looking for a minicab.

Even for being only 21 that's still a rip off and especially for a 1.2 !

Admiral seem to be good with young drivers, well they were with me when I insured my old gti180 at 21 and it was less than half your paying a month now !

Theyre not all that expencive, 24000 miles £7900 all skoda history... people will say get tints for around £200 and have a terrible looking row of bubbles around the dot matrix. Cant beat factory tints. also avoid orange heater lines in the rear window :)

Just nice to have one of 1000 9**

I was also going to say they are not that expensive. Unless you like going to one of the few overpricing dealers and having your pants pulled down.

Bought mine on here a few months ago. £8,000 with 20k miles on the clock. But that's a late reg one. March 09, but built in 07 of course.

Seen plenty on ebay at around £7,500 or offers... (two on there now!)

You are going to pay £6,000 to £6,500 or so for an 06/56 plate anyway. So on that basis £1000 for one newer, but also with leather and the other extra bits. I'd say it's well worth it.

Just avoid those for sale by people that think they are extra valuable. At the end of the day it's a 4 year old VRS.

They are nice, but they are just a Fabia VRS with a few extras. If you are going to keep it, it's worth £1k more for a later one with a few bits and bobs.

Just don't spend too much or you'll be losing 1k on it's value to the dealers profit right away.

I thought the diffence betwwen the standard VRS and the Limited edition was the leather seats, red brake caliper's, blue paint and '170bhp' on tap instead of 130. Maybe im getting confused with oct'ys.

Never heard that one before...

I paid way over the top for mine - and now regretting it since I now can't sell for a year or so else I suffer a large financial loss...
