Good news for Columbus users

Featured Replies

That's interestuing thanks.

I note some Columbus users saying that their car was supplied without a navigation disc  . It should come with the disc, my last Superb did.

Since v7 is now the standard anyone getting a car from now on (me for one) should ensure that their disc is supplied as v7 and not an out of date previous version.

The disc is not always supplied with the car. If you use VIN.su giving your vin number you will get a full report on the vehicle about 4 A4 sheets.. 7QA without CD/DVD for navigation. is standard. A disc has to be ordered with the vehicle.

My car came last week with no disc and everything in default German. The dealer had to take the disc out of another car and yesterday Skoda UK confirmed that the discs aren't shipped with the car but on a seperate order and currently their is a backlog.

Seems a bit odd that they can supply more cars with a columbus system than there are discs as I would have thought the head unit comes with the disc? :S

My car was build week 40 and doesn't appear to have the 7 digit postcode entry available. :(

It would if you know where to look or click on the link in the link

Each UK Columbus is supplied with a disc. Mine did and I know of two others the same.

If anyone has a new car without a disc I suggest you ask your dealer for it.

Mark.

Hmph, no disc with my Columbus unit. I was wondering about that earlier today as it goes.

I figured they bench loaded the units with a master set of discs perhaps.

I will be talking to my dealer about it.

Checked my CD and I know mine doesn't have the 7 digit post code as the disc says V6.1 so clicking on the link within the link I don't think is going to help me any

Indeed they should be supplied with a disk, but the dealer MUST order it as part of the car otherwise it will be delivered without one. In theory you'll never need it, but its always good to have it.

They are on V7 2011

So if a dealer is supplying cars without the disks then presumably they are pocketing the money that should be paid for the disk? :S

I think I'll be contacting SUK next week to try to see how I can best get the disk that should have been supplied with my new car. Seven digit search in the latest version also looks like it could be a boon to anyone getting this version. :)

Thanks

Perhaps those who weren't given a disc for their Columbus might suggest that their dealer supply V7 with the full postcode availability and reinstall it for them as they probably have V6.1 or even V6 installed?

My car is build week 40 and I have only had the car a week and has V6.1 so are the 2011 cars ones built ready for next year meaning I have a 2010 car or is the Columbus version as random as the build weeks/deliveries of these cars? :S

From the comments above about the map software being supplied seperately to the car, this is down to your dealer supplying the previous version. I would contact the dealer for an explanation.

From one of the other threads discussing this, the ID and build date of the disc are:

Volume: CD_7333

Date: 11.8.2010

Allowing a couple of months to get into circulation, I would have thought that all new vehicles should be now supplied with the v7 software disc.

Best regards

David

If I've paid for the sat nav unit in my car I would presume I have paid for the right to use the software on it therefore I would expect a disc to come with my car emoticon-0124-worried.gif

That aside I would be keen to obtain v7 mapping because finding an address in central London is a PITA with the 5 digit search.

When I spoke to Skoda UK last week because they wanted to discuss the feedback comments I submitted after taking delivery they said there was a back order of discs which is a bit odd as I have said before considering a disc must come with each Columbus unit. When I collected my car, an Octavia and another Superb left at the same time and the dealer confirmed this morning those had V6 too.

So perhaps a couple of months isn't enough for Skoda to get the latest versions out to everyone or they want to shift all the previous version discs first.

Perhaps I should do as FocusZtec and call Skoda Uk and ask why my car wasn't supplied with the latest version.

Either way, looks like I might be better off waiting for my wifes Ocatvia to arrive which we will be ordering ion the next few weeks.

You will have to let us know what version yours is when it arrives!

Is it still waiting at Rainworth?

Yes, it is being issued a December tax disc so should be delivered on Wednesday. It will have been at Rainworth Skoda for 21 days. :dull:

I notice that my VIN report includes the option code as suggested by Spectrum:

CD ROM/DVD/SD card 7QA Without CD/DVD for navigation

I'll let everyone know what version I get.

Best regards

BW40 is a MY2011 car but not supplied with the latest software.

My car is being built this week (WK48) and in light of this thread I decided to check with the dealer which version of nav software will be supplied. They have confirmed that it will be supplied with V7.

I'm really pleased because I thought 5-digit postcodes were a real limitation of the system. 7-digit should have always been available!

That's good to hear. So mine being built next week (last I heard anyway) should be the same.

Mark,

Does that mean i can "borrow" your disc to install onto mine?! - (Please, fellow 4x4 driver ;) ) - or can you not do that....?

no problem to me, it would be just an update, would have thought your dealer would do it for free anyway though?

Mark
