Shark Performance

Featured Replies

Ok i need a bit of advice and peoples opinnions, i am very tempted to order a shark remap as i live 400 hundred odd miles away i have a chance to buy one of there "STS" maps its basically a diagnostic tool that uploads there map to my ECU also allows me to turn the map back to standard form with the diagonostic tool and also check and clear faults. So basically i want to know if any of you guys have this type of map? or have an opinion on it? I know a few of use have the shark map and think very highly of them, any advice welcomed

Paul

I've got a stage 2 map on mine and its brill, had it for a year now without any probs. The STS unit is great too, its like a 2 in 1. If you ever have the engine light come on, just plug the unit in and read the codes and then clear them

so not only are you getting a map, your also getting a diagnostics tool which is brill (Saves you having to pay a garage to plug the car into there computer) Its soo easy to use. From memory i think it took about 15-20 mins to upload the new map and like you say you can always put it back to standard to. For the money i think its a great product and a great service from Ben, im sure i recieved mine next day too.

I also have the stage 1 map without the STS

1 word.... Smooth!

Ben is also a top top man could not recommend him highly enough!

I'm think of one of these as a future mod too, so will be keeping an eye on this thread!

Whats the shark stage 1 like compared to the revo?

I know Rob Clubbey has one of the STS units and he is in New Zealand :D :D :D

I've got the shark map on mine (without the sts) an in a word it's "awesome" drives as standard at low revs but give it some throttle and it comes alive, Ben is a top bloke and you wont meet a more honest person IMO.

Bodge has done a review which is in the shark performance sub forum!

You won't be disappointed and as others have said the sts doubles as a diagnostic tool which is always handy

Chap I work with has a late Cupra Leon and bought a Shark STS remap, he has been well impressed and satisfied, and he's the hardest guy to please I know in that respect :D

My STS remap arrived last friday but i haven't been able to upload it to my car yet! (major ****ed off). The reason be is that a couple of months ago i got a revo trial remap done on my car and they have basically left all there trial codes on my ECU (cheeky bast@rds) so i am unable to scan my ECU to upload my Shark remap. So i am hoping that the revo dealer that uploaded the trial remap will turn my ECU back to standard free of charge so i can upload my shark remap. I just have to wait for them to open after the christmas period (hopefully tomorrow  ). So just be carefull about these trial remaps that these big companys offer

APR did the same thing to my ECU. Funny how Awesome GTi failed to mention that when they gave me the free trial.......

Anyway, I went down to Ben and he sorted everything. The Shark map is great, and you will love it. My car's just ticked over 120k miles, and she's running better than ever.

Revo and APR are cheeky gits for claiming it "automatically reverts back to standard", because it's a massive lie. Also if your insurance ever checked your ECU for tuning after you had the trial, they would probably tell you it has been modified and invalidate your insurance. Slight inconvenience!

I know i am just going to go down to my revo dealer and tell him that Revo's website states that your ECU goes back to standard which mine hasn't it's so annoying!!

Hopefully though the Revo dealer won't have a problem with this, Do you know mate if its a big job to change it back to standard or can it be done in minutes?

just ordered and paid for my stage 2 with mapped out decat CEL and STS unit which hopefully should be with me at the end of next week. and managed to squeeze into the 30% offer!

having spoken to ben i can honestly say he is one of the most helpful, honest and knowledgeable people that i have ever done business with. top marks to this small business and a quality product and service

I have the STS with stage 2 map and mapped out CELs for SAI and decat.

I have had the map for a year now and I'm very happy with it.

Not bad being able to get a remap from 12,000 miles away!!

HI

Your ECU can be remapped, but unfortunately not by the STS. You can have it done by us at the workshop if you'd like, or if you'd rather not travel we can do it by post.

Hi Ben, do the maps differ from the factory ones to the STS ones? for future reference ;)

Tuning delivered by the STS is just the same as you'd get from us at the workshop

Didn't want to answer your other question above as I guess it's for other people to give their opinions :)

HOW MUCH WOULD IT BE AND WHAT SORT OF GAIN WOULD I GET

yip thanks mate, just hoping to get peoples views. ive made up my mind a while back that i will use shark when i choose to remap :)

how do sharks maps show when compared to the others on rolling road graphs?

Graphs aren't everything, more the way the power is delivered. I don't have a shark remap but a lot of memebers on here do and they are held in very high regard and seen as one of the best.

I will soon have the shark sts remap on my car, just have to wait for revo to clear there crapy trial codes of my ecu then i am ready to upload the map :-), from speaking to ben he has been very very helpful cnt praise him enough, i decided to go with the shark map over revo as i haven't read a bad review about there maps and ben is very helpful. I should hopefully have me shark map on my car by next week ill keep use posted how i get on and how the car feels after the map. Paul

what power you all had from it roughly ???????????????? how much?????????????/

Ben @ Shark said it would be 205-210 bhp.

The car has been on the dyno at RS tuning in leeds (Dyno dynamics, probably one of the most acuurate ones there is), and it made 203 bhp, which isn't too far off.

The AFR Ratio and boost were all nice and smooth too.

Some mappers claim to be able to get 225-230 bhp with no mods, but you don't really have a chance on stage 1, even with a stage 2 map you may struggle. (DON'T FLAME ME LOL!!!!!!!)
