How long to obtain a build week

Featured Replies

On the 10th of December I ordered and paid deposit for my new Skoda with my local dealer. At the time of ordering he said that the computers were down and that he would post out an official reciept and build week.

Despite emailing him twice for details I have had no response.

How long from placing an order until being given a build week?

Am I being paranoid or is this unusual?

Give them a call rather than email, most dealers respond much faster to calls than emails.

and from experience you may as well ask how long is a piece of string as my build changed at least 3 times... and looking at the threads on waiting times it's getting worse (especially for diesels)

my own experience:

Ordered 22/12/2010

order accepted & skoda order number alloacted, confirmed by email from dealer to me 29/12/2010 (3 working days)

waiting on production slot (build date) - anticipate within next 2 weeks

Ordering a petrol so dont anticipate big delays, diesels on the other hand doesnt sound great

I'd agree with Voyger220v. Much of it depends on what you are ordering.

I understand it's a "minimum" 6 months wait for certain models with diesel and even longer if it involves complex/multiple extras.

Reminds me of what VW experienced with Golfs in the mid 80's, when demand outstripped production.

Took about a month to get my (first) unconfirmed Build Week, and that was without holidays.

The 'unconfirmed' Build Weeks were 41, 40, 45, 50, 09, 01.

Build Week 1 was only raised to 'confirmed' status during Build Week 50, however the car was actually built during Build Week 51.

(Car was ordered during Build Week 20).

Build Weeks, as my experience shows, can be all over the place, and even when uncomfirmed becomes confirmed, (approx 2 weeks prior to the confirmed week), it doesn't follow that it will be built during the confirmed week; a week either way is possible.

I placed my deposit nearly 6 weeks ago (22nd Nov) and was told last week, after I called the dealer again, that the order was on the system (she looked while I was on the phone), and that they were awaiting a provisional (unconfirmed?) build week.

I'm going to hassle them weekly until I get something out of them, and if nothing is forthcoming I guess I'll try and find somewhere to escalate to at Skoda UK (futile I know but might make me feel better).

Update: Ordered 22nd Nov, now 17th Jan and still nothing.

Get the Skoda order number from dealer then ring SUK direct. I found them to be helpful and rang nearly every week for updates .

IIRC the order number is 5 digits

10 days here.

Ordered a diesel vRS LHD (Norway) with DSG, soundsystem, sunroof and a whole lot of extras on November 22nd. Still no confirmed build week. Dealer says production log has notes of failure on availability of engine and gearbox. First production week was 49. Then 51, 02, 05 and now 07. Production is still unconfirmed.

According to dealer it can swing both ways. "Engines are the trouble" he said. We do not have enough of them. Me: Guess that's what happens when you fit the same engines in four great product brands (Audi, Seat, Skoda and VW).

Already sold my previous car. I am SO ready. Yes, I'll take a card please...

Ordered a diesel L and K hatch on 4th October and got build week 16 on 2nd December, but by 13th December this had changed to build week 3. Dealer is checking this week for any more changes, if any.

Edit: Now there's no build week listed.

Just to clarify & set any expectations around delivery of vRS Octavias. As i have just gone through this long wait & have asked both my local dealer & SUK, what the actual process is.

Once you have placed an order with the dealer, he will get an allocated order number within 5 days of him putting the order on the system along with an estimated* build date.

(* This is not confirmed till 1 week before actual build of the car )

You can ask the dealer what the Order number is for your vehicle, and get updates from either the dealer or SUK.

They both access the same system to give you updates, so it doesn't matter who you ask you will get the same information.

Once the car is confirmed as built the delivery time from factory to dealer is 2-3 weeks ( weather dependant), it should take the dealer 2-3 days to PDI & register the car for you to collect, depending on how busy your dealer can turn around your car.

Now the not so good news:-

Skoda are saying 24 -28 weeks on the diesel vRS ( & I can confirm this having waited from 20 June 2010 to 30 Dec 2010 for mine)

The Petrols will be quicker, but be realistic expect 18 - 20 weeks, if quicker, then youre lucky.

When I spoke to SUK customer services a week before christmas, I was told the order books for Skoda cars are the fullest they have EVER been in the companies 110 year history.

Plese forgive my quoting myself here, but just an update for you all. I ordered my vRS LHD above in week 47/10. Today I had confirmation that it is to be built in week 5/11. That is 9 weeks from order to production, and I guess another three to have it in my yard. 3 months all together. Not THAT bad compared to some stories in here.

Just wanted to share *excited*.

:p

I got my build week after I contacted after 2 months week 8 so far and not heard a thing since hope all goes to plan no one likes to wait!!

Ordered my L&K 2.0 TDi DSG on the 16th November and was given a 20 week delivery.2 weeks later was told the good news BW3 (this week) Rang dealer this morning and said the delivery has now been suspended no info from SUK. He also mentioned that any new cars ordered will have to wait 6 to 9 months.Whats happening??????????

You should be able to amend your order right up until build week is 'confirmed' which is normally a week before actual build

I ordered a diesel 23/12 and have a build week of 15 at the moment. There are lots of people in the various threads who have ordered after you and who have build weeks (either provisional or even confirmed). I'd suggest you get back on to your dealer and find out what the story is.

Have a look at this link. It is possible to change your order but since the VAT deal has now ended for your model it makes things slightly more compicated. Phone your dealer and ask and if he says it can't be done point him in the direction of Skoda UK.

I take it it's petrol you've ordered then? Even so, there's the price rise (2%) to consider. Not sure how that effects orders though.
