Waiting and waiting and then, waiting

Featured Replies

Good news - contacted the dealer this afternoon and my SM is sitting in Darlington! The dealer confirmed that he is happy to hold back registration/delivery to 1 March: a goodwill gesture for my patience in waiting 7 months (if only he knew how impatient I have actually been!) and he says that, even though I am transferring a cherished registration, it will add a few hundred to the trade-in value when I come to change it, being able to put an 11 rather than a 60 plate on it in place of my cherished number. My current road tax runs out on 28 Feb, so the kind dealer has also suggested I hand over the Octy Scout to him on 25 Feb, with the paperwork that will allow hime to tax the Yeti and make up the correct number plates, and he will lend me something to tide me over the 3 days or so before I pick up the SM. After so long, this all sounds too good to be true. I wonder if it's the right colour and spec?!

Excellent news, I hope some of your fortune rubs off on me. Call me sceptical but I suspect that the dealer is happy to hold on till 1st March because it increases their chances of a bumper month and thus a bung from Skoda rather than the philanthropic gesture they would have you believe, but what the hell good news all the same

I'm not going to ring my dealer until at least the 19th - don't fancy tempting fate!

Thats great. I bet you are tempted to go down to the the garage to check it's ok, just in case :giggle:

It's far enough away (70 mile round trip) to deter me. I'll be going in at the end of next week to take in the papeerwork re registration/taxing so I'll wait until then.

You are a very, very patient man! But years with naughty children probably taught you that I'd hope! Enjoy the final bit of waiting (if possible!)

Yes congratulations.....but 70 miles...I'd have been there the same afternoon. :giggle:

Great news Andrew ...... I can only dream as i stubbonly (spelling?) wait for sunroofs and read of increasing delays. SWMBO quite fancies a Snazzy green Fabia VRS!

Went up to Glasgow yesterday and there was a shocking mulluck just past Carlisle on the M74, a car transporter full of Range Rovers had flipped over and they were all wrecked. Just looked on news and they had to cut driver from cab.

At least your car has safely arrived at dealers.

Worst nightmare waiting 9 months for Yeti and that happens or ship sinks!

Yes - and with naughty teachers too - far less tractable than children! I do have a 1:43 scale model of a SM (in Muscavado) sitting on my desk, which makes the waiting a bit easier.

Where did you get the model? All I've got is a Yeti from a Mcdonalds Happy Meal! :giggle:

Found it on ebay. They have different colours at different times. Most - like mine - seem to come from Hong Kong. It cost about £15 including p&p.

Thanks I'll set up an autosearch.

Seems there are two 1:43 versions:

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=skoda+yeti+1%3A43&_sacat=See-All-Categories

One version is £14,99 plus £3 pp and the other is £5,90 and £5 pp. I wonder which is best?

Mine is one of the cheaper ones - came in bubble-wrap rather than a fancy acrylic display case. Good model, though. I checked back and it actually cost just over £10, not £15. A comforting little toy while awaiting the genuine arrival!

I also bought my 1:43 online from a Škoda dealer long before I had my car! it is Aqua Blue alas as that is what I had originally ordered and you don't get Steel Grey models it seems!

I've got my toy Yeti as gift from my dealer when I went to pick up my Yeti :).

According to this post: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/191449-great-news-for-people-facing-a-long-wait-for-their-yeti/ you should get a free (full-size) loan car from your dealer while waiting for your Yetis!

My Octy is now nearly five years old, but I remember ordering it at the end of December and getting it on the 3rd of March. I was trading in my Golf for it, and was quoted a fixed trade-in price in December which was honoured in March. The only concern was that I didn't let the milometer exceed 80,000, but it was 7 1/2 years old by then so I suppose it's value wasn't dropping dramatically in the 3 months I had to wait for the Octy.

I was quite surprised that a fixed trade-in price was agreed for my Octy Scout in mid-August when it was envisaged that I wouldn't get the Yeti until the turn of the year. In the event, I'm only collecting it on 1 March, by which time I will have put another 3500 miles on the Scout! However, it will still have only done 23000 miles, which is quite low for an August 08 registration and I suppose the dealer just assumed I wasn't going to drastically change my average mileage during the waiting time.

My dealer is currently "processing" my request for a loan car having turned down a petrol Superb... I'd be extremely happy if they gave me a Superb, and quite happy if they gave me an Octavia... but I won't be happy with a fabia as the boot isn't even big enough to fit our tent in... let alone the huge list of other camping gear wear cart around with us ;)

when i done the deal on my 110 4x4 my dealer only asked the current mileage of my 1.2tsi he still has not seen it from the day he handed it to me in Jan 2010. the trade-in price and the vat are fixed ordered DEC 2010 so old vat rate  and i keep my 1.2  till the 110 arrives hopefully late may. showing build week 11 last week must ring him and check as that should be fixed now.

Hello im new to this forum, i found it by accident after using google to search for how long does it take skode to build a car,

We ordered our Yeti S 2.0 TDI CR DPF 110 PS 5G Man on september the 17th 2010 and was told it would be here for mid december, when it got close to mid december the delivery date got pushed back to mid january. We called them around mid jan and were told due to VW only sending skoda a limited amount of diesel engines the production was delayed yet again now to mid feb....I bet you can guess what happened when we called into the dealers in mid Feb?, yep the delivery date is now pushed back to mid march.

This time the dealer did give a means to track my order though, he gave me what he called an SLI number which i believe is the order number, and a website called trackmyskoda found here http://www.trackmyskoda.co.uk/

you put your SLI number in the searchbox provided and it gives you the current situation of your order, apparently it gives you a build week first, but this can be pushed back or brought forward untill you get the build week confirmed. the next bits of information are build complete/then in transport or at dockside/ then where ever they store them for the dealers in the uk and finally at the dealers.

Heres what my order currently looks like

Model: Yeti S 2.0 TDI CR DPF 110 PS 5G Man

(Please note that vehicle options are not shown)

Exterior Colour: Orange Tangerine Metallic

Status: No Assignment of a Build Week

Build Week: 0

(Please note: The first 4 digits above are the year and the last 2 are the week number i.e a number above of '201101' would be week 01 of the year 2011. Please note that build weeks may or may not be confirmed and are subject to change. Please check back on regular intervals.)

Please enter your reference number (SLI Number) as supplied into the box below to check your order status:

I think you'll find this only works for a couple of dealers in the South Yorkshire area.

the dealer said its the same system that they get the info from, so i assumed the SLI numbers could be used nationally.

Welcome to Briskoda.

One point that seems strange to me is that your 'order' does not appear to have been allocated a build week.

From my experience I would have thought you should have a build week within 4-6 weeks of you having placed your order with your dealer and your dealer having put this into the Skoda system. It may well be that a build week is subject to change but there ought to be one there for you.

the dealer said its the same system that they get the info from, so i assumed the SLI numbers could be used nationally.

No - it doesn't work nationally and according to SUK it only tracks fleet sales anyway.

Had a build week within two weeks of placing my order, than it moved back two weeks followed by the build week allocation being withdrawn/suspended. After about three weeks a third build date was allocated for April (2.5 months later than the first build date :o ). However this is the first time I've had this mess about with build dates, the previous three have all been on or ahead of schedule (wifes Fabia was still built on time despite flooding effecting suppliers).

hi all, this is my first post, but i've been lurking in here for a while :)

i've got an elegance 140bph 4x4 cr dsg on order since just before christmas, and the dealers are saying that it's bw13 and that i should receive him the middle of april. Does that sound right to you guys? I wasn't expecting it that quick to be fair & it's took me a bit by suprise..... Any replies gratefully received
