Aftermarket vRS exhaust

Featured Replies

Anybody changed or planning to change the exhaust on their vRS?

After my test-drive I loved the car but was left feeling it could do with a slightly'meatier' sounding exhaust note!

Have done a quick internet search but didn't see any manafacturer has developed this mod yet -anybody know of any in the pipeline ( :giggle: ) ?

Are you sure????

Ours sounds like a F1 car on full throttle!!! Great sound

are you sure :giggle: must be different to the one i heard drove. It just sounded slightly unrefined.

im not a fan of loud exchausts. had one on my octy vRS and regretted buying it, as it makes it obvious if you speed. hopever a downpipe will give you power gains and make the exhaust note deeper but not to much louder. Definitely the way forward in my eyes and what i will be doing.

No one does an exhaust at present. miltek have only just released one for the Ibiza cupra whih has been out a fair while.

This is a good thing though as you could be lucky and get big discounts for being the doner car to allow them to design the exhaust.

Miltek IMo are very expensive and have a bit of a reputation for welds failing. However lot sif guys have miltek as they are notmally the first guys to release an exhaust system and as such end up with the monopoly.

Ive had pipewerx and piper in the past, both have been excellent. Id also consider blueflame

Agreed. I wasn't impressed with the sound either but then again I am coming from a focus ST -fabia will never sound as good as that!

When I started my test drive I couldn't hear any decent exhaust noise -abit worrying considering we were INSIDE the showroom at the time :giggle:

Also not a fan of loud chav exhausts, just as thinking a nice rich low bass note would be nice. B)

you here a noisy engine, but its not the best of exhaust notes. Ive had the ST as well. Had cat back on that as well and didnt like it either. Ohly reason i bought it for my octavia was it had evrything else on it already.

Downpipes are where its at for me, all the power, lovely deeperer burble and no droning

Ok :S

I love the sound of mine, the supercharger and turbo spooling sound especially nice.

However, I do agree it could do with a bit more grunt, however, outside on idle it sounds pretty good too!

I agree that a new downpipe would be a decent upgrade.

I dont think anything is available yet as the car is so new.

Why not go to a custom exhaust place? I've had quotes before that were less than Milltek or Blueflame wanted. I guess it depends on what is local to you though, I'm lucky in that there is a very good one locally.

from what i gather though its a pretty difficult exhaust to manufacture due do the bends and kinks etc

I know alot of custom places offer lifetime guarantee's for their exhasuts provided its on the original vehicle still and not been sold on

I emailed Milltek -they have no plans to develop a system for the fabia vRS :'( .

Custom system could defo be an option. I used to live in Cardiff a few years ago and there was a company there that had a pretty good reputation -Longlife exhausts I think?

Ok :S

lol... I like the sound of mine too Chris, I think it is absolutley fantastic between 5-7,000 revs ! it positively sings  I also like the sound of the supercharger at low revvs...

but then I came from a 1.9 diesel to this car, not a warbling 5 cylinder growl from an ST like some of them :D

Ive had the ST as well. Had cat back on that

When I had my ST was tempted to get the Mountune cat-back as supposed to give nice deeper rumble (and more pops/bangs) without sounding loud/chavvy.

Hopefully when my vRS arrives I'll be enjoying that so much that the ST and its induction noise will start to fade from my memory....!

weell revo have now purchaseedd a Fabia vRS (its on their facebook page) and are testing their stage 1 and 2 software on it. So they 100% will have to get an exhaust for stage 2 software and they normally use miltek

  • 1 year later...

Currently considering my exhaust options and would appreciate any informed opinions on the following:

1. Just remove the mid-silencer by replacing centre pipe - estimate cost at about 50notes

2. Buy and fit Jetex cat-back - cost seems to be 383notes

3. Buy and fit Milltek cat-back - cost seems to be 443notes

4. Leave as standard - cost is 0notes!!

Interested to know if anyone has heard and compared a number of the above options as all have been covered separately on here before but are obviously very subjective.

To avoid this topic going off in to discussions on stage 2 or 3 or whatever, I am mainly after some better/raspier/louder/enjoyable exhaust noise to complement the performance and engine on the car rather than any increased bhp or torque, some better looking tips wouldn't go a miss either though!

Cheers

Andy

Now that's what I call a thread revival! :-)

I went for the Milltek catback in the end and didnt regret it. Looks awesome, gives a nice deeper slightly louder note with minimal drone. Sounds like an absolute beast on full throttle upchanges. I did a thread on it with some links to youtube vids I recorded, will find the link to it for you if I can

Your not after power so you are correct with your options.

Id reccommend

option 5. Speak to Pipewerx or BCS automotive or Blueflame and get a custom cat back made for less money for a higher quality result. They might even offer you a full system for the price of a cat back.....

Piper might also be an option. They wanted mine to develop a full system and all i had to pay was for the CAT back, but when i upgradedturbo they changed track because they wanted to develop off the stock turbo. So they ight als o be an option.

Basically try your luck with the guys who havent got an off the shelf system and you might get a good discount.

My choice if i ewas to be in the market for a TBE would be BCS all day long. Ive seen loads of their systems now on friends cars and they are excellent quality.

Thinking about it you want more engine note so maybe you should add another option.

Option 6: Get a decent intake. That will get you a raspier/deeper engine note, more noise from the turbo, power gains and is much simpler to swap over should you need to for some reason. Plus its cheaper than a cat back.

Cheers for comments guys - don't want more power, so that I can keep insurance simple (cat back gains can be considered negligible IMO).

Good call re going for someone without an off the shelf option, but unlikely to be able to be without my car for any length of time for their development.

Overall just trying to get more of a comparative review between the options and if the 400notes-ish (and any slight increase in insurance) is worth it. Still very tempted to rip out the mid silencer for most cost effective solution.

Thread revival is the way forward btw ;-)

Andy

FWIW my insurance was unchanged with the intake.

the two things which caused substantial rises were the intercooler(not sure why though) and the turbo.

I've got the Jetex catback on my car and it does sound much better than standard but not intrusive while driving around town or at 70mph on the motorway. Definately sounds MEGA when you boot it !

No Extra on the insurance for me as im only 20, plus the tailpipes fill the the bumper better than the standard ones.

IMO a good purchase but can always cut the middle silencer out if you didnt want to spend that much :)

option 7: get the Jetex Turboback and replace the middlesilencer with the racepipe.

like i did 3 weeks ago.

Any pics / vids of the Jetex? :)

i will make a vid at the Weekend then
