The thing you hate most..

Featured Replies

now, there are loads of threads about annoying gearbox, and poor fuel economy ect ect..

you know what annoys me most?

the bloody shiny plastic on the dash, specifically the way , when the sun shines, it reflects in the windscreen where you are looking and trying to drive!

people have talked about seat surgens and doing the leather, do you think anyone would do the dash in suede, like the abarth fiats have?

Shiny dash is also a pain on the GL1 . That window reflection is really annoying. My old Mk 1 never had that problem.

Might be able to use some kind of flocking material to cover it?

the most annoying thing is no interior light for the rear of the car. Pain in the ass putting the young un in the car @ night. Also no spot light for the sun visors. I guess its these little things that they save money on.

Also when i change gear from reverse to drive, it takes an age to change and feels jerky. Goingto read the manual to see if what im doing is wrong

I use Poorboys Natural Look to clean the dash and I don't seem to have shiny dash problems. Sometimes if people use something like silicone products on the dash that makes it shine horribly. Always polish your dash with a none reflective 'natural' look polish and it should be fine.

hhmm, I have to reverse out of my drive, and mine changes quickly without any jerkyness, maybe it will settle as it runs in? (mine is now 3300 miles)

We both really like the car...but my wife & I both agree...DSG delay from standstill! :(

My only other slight peeve is the way that water seems to drip in when you open the door with a wet roof...it doesn't seem to happen with our Octy...that car just gives you a wet boot! :D

People Blamng the DSG etc for not driving the way they want.

The TECH WORKS learn the tech.

I've just done a fun run over some nice A & B roads and my little 1.4 even put a 2.5 TDI Audi quattro A4 to shame aswell as a new shape MX5 and few others.

However what I didn't like was the unexpected lift off oversteer.

lift off oversteer?! lol.. not got this yet Can, and you we with me when I was trying to 'provoke' mine on that roundabout! is it your tyres again? ;)

No you need to provok it in a very specific manor Probably best explained in chat.

But I found once I can get the dunlops up to temp the are OK they just take at least half an hour to realy reach a proper temp. Would propably work well in endurance racing/etc but not the ideal tyre for the road. Or atleast thats my current opinion I'll know more once I've worn throw these and replaced them.

The Shi*te Dunlop tyres it came with and when the wife won't let me drive it cos she needs it.......why can't she take the Octty Vrs

I'm thinking about sticking some Michelin PS3's on it ( can't get Uniroyal rain masters). After all the shi*e i've given the Dunlops on here know one on Brisky will buy them. Having said that if anyone will give me £300 for 4x205/40/17 with less than 500 miles worn I'll do it............

do a track day and wear them out that way, punish them for all those sleepless nights, show them who's boss

weirdly the best review of the vRS I saw was a hack on a track and they were the dunlops, but i assume they were warmed up! lol... me and Can did some back to back testing at the last scottish meet and concluded there was a world of difference between the dunlops and the contis on a "normal" cold english day..

Can: get rid of the dunlops on e-bay, and buy some middle range tyres (conti's are too expensive [althogh they work well!] and wear quick) , something like falken 452's, toyo's, rainsports, F1's ect..... you would probably break even in the end!

dont buy the toyo T1Rs. worst tyre ive ever used.

vredestein sessantas, Michelim PS3 or supersports, F1 Assymetrics(not GSD3) or rainsports

I love the look of the seats and the feel of them when you sit in them but after a couple of hours driving they do give me backache, being very fussy i know but apart from that i love it, especially the dsg and the looks it seems to be getting B)

I agree with the looks, at first, I wasn't impressd (especially by the basic demonstrator hey had in my local garage) but when I saw my green with white wheels in the flesh, I just had to have it!

the seats could come with more lumbar support (or at least a lumnbar adjustment!) which would help for long drives...but i find them nice, especially the side support for hard cornering... but I do have whiplash at he moment, and could do with having my back straighter!
