The thing you hate most..

I agree with the looks, at first, I wasn't impressd (especially by the basic demonstrator hey had in my local garage) but when I saw my green with white wheels in the flesh, I just had to have it!

the seats could come with more lumbar support (or at least a lumnbar adjustment!) which would help for long drives...but i find them nice, especially the side support for hard cornering... but I do have whiplash at he moment, and could do with having my back straighter!

Yes i think your right its just the lumbar support thats lacking, the side support is spot on like you say  . Pictures just don't do the new VRS justice because in the flesh i think its a cracking looking motor, in most of the colours as well!!

How did you end up with whiplash? Was it one of your learners being a bit heavy with the brakes :S .

no , work accident, work vehical (ambulance) other drivers fault... taxi.... my speed was approx 5 mph, his approx 50 mph (in a 30 zone late at night... and I had blues and two's!) just be careful what vehicals you get in late at night people !

Ouch!! nasty, hope your whiplash gets better soon. Sounds a bit like the taxi drivers around this way to, think they have the right of way over everything!!

People Blamng the DSG etc for not driving the way they want.

The TECH WORKS learn the tech.

I've just done a fun run over some nice A & B roads and my little 1.4 even put a 2.5 TDI Audi quattro A4 to shame aswell as a new shape MX5 and few others.

However what I didn't like was the unexpected lift off oversteer.

+ all 3 of these points Can, also running SP maxx that are rubbish until really warmed up. The lift-off oversteer when they are unsticky i would describe as complex, challenging but a learning curve like DSG.

10/10 for summarising "The tech works learn the tech". Wish I had coined that phrase!

I am still amazed that people think a DSG should emulate an old-tech auto and forgive clumsy pedal-work.

The lift of oversteer was when they where hot and it was all perfectly managable but it was just a little unexpected.

It was kind of like the car saying you've gone far enough now just back off.

I'd say that's good news. Part of why I love my Octy is its lift off oversteer :)

id bet it was thre front tyres being nice on hot, with the rear ones not being hot enough resulting in the front out gripping the rear.

Ive found you can provoke quite a bit of weight transfer by lifting off, but it doesnt want to oversteer much at all i think.

OK , things I am not happy with ( don't really hate them)

1. Things like carpets/storage boxes as extras ( free with Mk1 vRS)

2. Reflections of the top of the dash board in the windscreen - ArmorAll do a matt finish cleaner

3. At night its very dark in the back difficult to see anything - could be an advantage in some situations :giggle:

4. A bit tricky to judge where the front of the car is when say parking forwards towards a wall.

5. No warning when the washer bottle runs low.

Got Continentals on - and they seem OK

Seats seem good - not been on a long trip yet - but one coming up on the 27th March !

DSG - love it - no problems

No problems with the chrome alloys - given them 3 coates of protective wax.

How fast are you going into corners to induce lift off oversteer in a Fabia vRS? I haven't found that at all, sometimes you can get the ESP system to brake the inside rear wheel which feels like the back has let go slightly.

I've yet to experience full blown oversteer in a Fabia. Apart from obviously a MK1 2.0 Fabia, they can out powerslide an M5....

I can definitely induce oversteer on mine on track but wouldn't dare attempt this on the road, at least not deliberately... :o

Worst niggle is the key in the petrol cap lark.

Surely have a locking flap or pay for the patent to have the fueless cap system thats on Ford and Renault but a key in the petrol cap is something that I have not had on probably my last 6 cars ( 3 fords, RX8, 2 Renaults).

Maybe they keep some poor sod employed in CZ making the petrol cap locks....

I agree this is very poor given it is now 2011; cost saving gone mad in my opinion. This also inflicts the new Ibiza so at least the Fabia isnt on its own!

Is it a bit annoying. Mine seems to consume a bit too much oil right now. My only gripe!

In fact my only gripe qith the DSG is engine braking. When you making 'progress' or hit the brakes, ive always changed down manually in previous cars to keep the engine revs up. I find the DSG takes to long to change down, so i end up doing it manually.

Not tried it in sport mode yet, does this make a difference

yes, sport will change down in the way you want it to.... but in drive I often just use the paddles to overide, for corners I know ect, so I'm in the right gear on approach, and for the exit...

I do hope that wasn't in swmbo's old one as she won't be impressed with you

the most annoying thing is no interior light for the rear of the car. Pain in the ass putting the young un in the car @ night. Also no spot light for the sun visors. I guess its these little things that they save money on.

My 59-plated Level 3 estate has a rear interior light - the manual shows two types. My one has the three way switch - on/off/on with doors. The other type has two spotlights that can turned on or off only. They may be available as an accessory.

John

If I noticed from the start that the rear light was missing I would have ordered it pre-installed. Now I bet I will have loads of fun removing the ceiling and retrofitting one :dull:

anothing I've niticed that the fiat had and the skoda lacks... getting in in the dark, the fiat had an illuminated key barrel... faffing around in the dark to get the key in the vRS! :wonder:

I think VW solves that with a led light ignition key. It would have been nice to do it for the Skodas.

i solved it with a head torch...

Do you mean no interior rear roof light ?

Do you mean no interior rear roof light ?

yes

yes

I thought all the vRS came with one as I didn't order one but there is one in the front and one in the rear of mine. The rear one is pretty smart as the roof lining has a depression where the wide light fits, making it flush.

Does it come with the rear electric windows if you order them ?

Or could it be the sunroof option I chose ?

What's everyone else got :wonder:

I'm interested to know whether my vRS estate might have a rear interior light. I've also spec'd rear elec wins but no sunroof. Would appreciate if anyone can comment.
