Do tell where you found them, please :)

Some advice, please, regarding a replacement digi camera.

I had until recently (it's just been burgled) a Canon T70 film camera and assorted lenses but it got set aside as I spent more time on two wheels and needed a 'pocketable' digi camera for convenience. Both are now history.

I'm looking at relatively current digi (doesn't need to be new) and something which will give me an equivalent to the 35-70 lens I liked on the Canon. I have no aspirations to being a 'proper photographer' but would like more control of my image framing, composition and exposure than I can get via a phone camera. BTW I'm still using a Samsung S10 which is pretty good but relatively ancient.

As a pensioner with two houses in need of fettling before I can liberate any funds from them I'm look for cheap to reasonable.

Any recommendations out there?

Going through some old shots from Knockhill, found this one which I quite like. Not sure how I missed it first time around.

A compact camera might be the way to go. Check out the Panasonic lumix range or canon powershot range. Should be able to find something to suit most budgets. My personal favourite is a fujifilmX100VI.

I have a Nikon P60 for that sort of use. It's quite old now but is a cracking piece of kit with both an screen and a viewfinder which is unusual on a compact camera but why I bought it.

Second hand they're about £50 tops.

I have a Panasonic TZ70 with a 30x optical zoom, screen and viewfinder that I bought "refurbished" from eBay (I think) many moons ago. It is full of features and gives excellent results.

I can only second the Lumix suggestion(s) above 👍

I currently have both a TZ70 (1/2.3" sensor compact camera) and FZ1000 (1" sensor bridge camera).

A couple of zoomed in shots through thin cloud of a Beluga XL from just now.
I really should drag myself to Hamburg for a factory tour or even down the Autobahn to their airport site.

+1 for a bridge camera. They're very versatile and while they are maybe 'jack of all trades, master of none' they perform perfectly well in all trades!

The Canon PowerShot series are quite popular, along with the Nikon Coolpix line. My first camera was an SX70HS.

What sort of thing are you looking to take photos of? Both the PowerShot and Coolpix line are known for their superzoom capability. If this isn't something you need, then that opens up our options somewhat.

Have a look on the London Camera Exchange website here. Secondhand gear is a great way of getting some nice equipment for less.

Snapped this on my phone on the way back into the house after cleaning it so not great quality and also a weird composition but thought it looked quite cool when converted to black and white.

It's a wonderful sight to see 👍

This flew over recently, although a little beyond the reach of my camera.

Certainly more audible than visible.

As it was sunny yesterday, I thought that a quick to North Weald might be in order and I was in luck, my friend was there and was taking his P51 Mustang out for a flight and there was also a Jet Provost doing training flights, so here are a couple of shots.

44-72035 was one of the original Red Tail (Tuskegee) aircraft. You can actually see some repairs from 1945 battle-damage behind the canopy and on the tail.

Yes, all his aircraft have that, he has 2 spitfires as well and he keeps them all authentic.

A pheasant, a Mandarin duck and a different duck were sat at a bar enquiring about their mate.

The barman says 'the squirrel? He's not been in yet, lads'
