25 week wait for my fabia monte carlo

Featured Replies

then they should pull the proverbial didget out and get it sorted, this is not a new model, its been around for a few years now, any supply problems should have been sorted...

The Fabia isn't a new model but the Polo and Audi A1 are and they use the same TSi, CR TDi's and DSG's. The new engines, gearboxes and satnavs are fairly new. Order times on Fabia's, Polo's and A1's with desirable spec like a TSi with DSG are all leaning towards 30 weeks.

I can except the delay, the products are in high demand and going elswhere means paying out more money for a lower tech vehicle. I just wish the admin side could come up with a definate delivery date on order.

Cheers

Can't see how going elsewhere will get a lower tech vehicle... VAG products aren't the only ones with up to date technology!

Well I'll see in a couple of months time when I have to order our replacement Motability car, if the wait is too long I'll have no worries about going elsewhere, in fact, looking at some of the competition's vehicles I can get everything I can in a VAG car but at less cost...

You seem to think its ok, L, well we'll have to agree to differ as I think a 6 month wait is taking the p!

Please tell me who else sells a fully loaded supermini with latest small capacity direct injection turbo petrols and dual clutch automatic gearbox for around £13k?

I don't have to, I am getting a Motability car, and I can get a fully loaded Focus Estate for less than a Fabia Estate... It has all the same goodies plus a six speed 'box and other things for a lower initial upfront payment... As for direct injection petrols, I couldn't care less as they will cost me too much, diesel is the common sense approach for my motoring!

Look at the specs of other Superminis, they are very little different, believe me, I have been reading the brochures for that past couple of months, and there are even some with better spec and other extras such as longer warranties...

Don't get me wrong, I like Skodas, I've been an owner of several continuously since march 2001, but there is a limit, and wait times around 6 months is one such... I CAN get Superminis that give me similar specs quicker, and I can also get slightly larger cars for similar money... and less wait...

Whilst I like Skoda I have taken off my blinkers and seen that there are other cars, just as good, that I can buy now and not many months hence... Skoda (and you?!) need to recognise that fact... and they act on it...

Note: This is not an anti Skoda rant, I like them too much for that... It is a wake-up call to Skoda... If they don't act on it, believe me, they will lose lots of sales...

I defo think skoda need to hurry up on producing cars... it takes 'apparently' 5 days to make a car... so the other approx 11 weeks 2 days are just waiting etc! I know skoda is now a popular brand but they should of forseen that and made sure production could keep up with demand. I'm prepared to wait for my monte though.

Ford recently had verygood good motability offers on the Focus as they were trying to get rid of the old Focus stock as the all new Focus is already on sale.

Cost doesn't bother me too much, I'll have paid out nearly £40k on cars in the last 12 months. Diesel for me because I do the miles but the Fabia wont be doing that many so I could go for the better drive and to be honest we really wanted a DSG.

Ford now have a wet clutch dual clutch gearbox (Powershift) for their larger engined cars and they have a said smaller dry clutch design for the Fiesta will be available next year.

Opt for the manual Fiesta with similar spec and you're over £15k but even then you get a manual box and normally aspirated 1.6 petrol that feels week at the side of the tsi.

So happy to wait to get the car we want, we have no need to rush and compromise on what we want.

What's the use of retooling to increase throughput when they can't get the VAG engines and gearboxes? This is a global VAG issue and demand is massively outstripping supply. 30 weeks wait is now getting common for Skodas, Audi and VW. Skoda actually build the 1.2TSi and are building another engine building facility but to build the plant, tool it and train the staff will take arund 2 years.

Same goes for the 7 speed DSG that's built in Germany, VAG are going to double the production of DSG's but it's a three year project.

The Japan situation will have a knock on effect as well now production of Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi and Nissan is significantly reduced.

The offer is on the new Focus, L! It surprised me as well! ;)

I agree with you about VAG-wide issues... But what I can see happening with is people going to other manufacturers unless they get their act together... I can see a load of cars engines and no buyers in a years time... Should be good for some deals then, though!

Ah well, its up to them, I'll decide in a couple of months!

Ford Focus Diesel or a Skoda Fabia vRS... hmm... think i'll stick with my new vRS thanks

My best mate works for Ford Head Office. Talking to him yesterday about my 12-15 week wait he said its beacuse Ford only share engines with Peugeot and they build cars in certain specs/colours expecting them to be popular and any other odd ones are special orders. Most end up in a car park waiting to be sold hence why you can get one in a week or so.

His Mum wanted a new Fiesta, asked for Blue in Zetec but was shifted towards a car in stock somewhere in a car park in grey and in Titanium spec, good salesman or silly mother?

If you really want the car, wait for it! God knows I do and since selling my MK1 vRS its been tough getting about but I can get about so no problems of wanting to cancel the order for a crappy Ford/Renault/Peugeot etc

If they just simply made a special edition like the Monte Carlo with all the options on as standard then apart from colours they could make a huge amount in little time & make them available to the dealerships..... Simples.

I know people will now chip in with 'but that will raise prices...', well tough!!! I want a car today & not 6 mths time when something else I prefer may be out!

biggest load of bull ive ever read in my life, skoda will not send the cars over to the uk as the £££££££££££ is very poor, the euro is much stronger meaning if they sell in europe they get a better value for thier cars.the six month wait is to see what happens with the uk market.at the end of the day the vag group are not stupid

Anyhow, ho asked you?? You don't even own a Skoda now lol!!

The wait may not be as long as they say. I ordered my vRS at the end of March and was told 25 week wait. Just been told the my car is build week 20 so should be ready in about 6 or 7 weeks. Only problem is it won't have the black pack. I'll have to see if they can delay the build for a couple of weeks.

Or just pay for them to retrofit the black pack?

Dealer told me that the price will be going up for MY12 cars. I think that the VAT offer only applied to MY11 cars anyway?

Not sure how they would stand on that one. They have entered into a contract to sell you a car at that price. they would be on a sticky wicket trying to charge you more because they could not deliver it on time.

I agree but above you said that you were going to ask them to delay a bit to get the black pack. In that case I would expect they could change the price or insist you take it when ready.

Would like the black pack but if it means paying extra or waiting more than 4 or 5 weeks extra I'll take it as it is. After all its still a very nice car with or whithout black pack. See if I can pick the bits up later.
