Hi people

I know the Mdi lead subject has been done to death but I was wondering if people who have recently been collecting their vrs have received the leads???

I bought my car used, so I didn't get a lead.

However, they are available on eBay for £6.49 delivered :)

speak to skoda UK

the MDI lead is included in the Price of the Car so you should receive one free of charge on collection.

Oh il hassle the dealer don't worry. I was just wondering if they had changed their tune and started dishing them out.

As above its included in the price of the car on the vRS - brochure clearly states 'MDI +cable'.

Most dealers don't seem to be playing this game tho -the cars usually turn up without a cable and dealers are reluctant to supply one out of their own pocket. One call to SUK usually sorts the problem....

Having said that I got my vRS on 1st March and I'm still waiting for my cable, hopefully should arrive this week but who knows.... :wonder:

The cable is Free. You need to tell the dealer which one you want as they have connectors for 6 or 7 devices

interesting, didnt know this so ill have to remember nearer the time, come in handy for the ipod ;)

would it be as well to ask for the USB lead, as most ipod / HDD type devices will either fit it directly or have thier own lead which will connect to a usb?

just thinking of the most connectivity ;)

I went USB as I intended to use flash memory/hard disk.

I have an iPhone, but don't fancy connecting/disconnecting every time I am in the car whilst a flash device can just be left in the gap next to the port.

2 Questions about this....

Anyone know if the interface varies depending on which device you use?

and do you specify when you order or when you get the car?

Ok be carefull.

I went down this route so you have a MDi connection at one end and a USB at the other, I did this so you could plug anything with a USB connector into the Skoda USB cable

BUT if I connected a music player into the cable , via another usb cable you got no sound. I found out that the Skoda USB connector has a wire missing so another USB cable will not work with it, If you wish to play an I pod or an other music devise you need the proper connector from skoda

Does that make sense??

The brochure also states that 'part supplied by dealer' as an asterisked item. I imagine this is down to the car-buyer having a choice of cables.

In the other long thread about this, I think there was a Skoda memo which owners could point their stealer in the direction of if they started getting shirty about supplying the cable. Does anyone have that memo number?

There's a bulletin number on a previous thread. I pick mine up next week so I will be asking for the iPod link cable.

its also on page 11 of the fabia brochure under key equipment as standard

i seeeee

yes that does make sense and thanks for the heads up

so a usb drive will "plug n play" no problem, but (for example) an ipod with a usb lead connected to the Skoda USB socket will not...thats a bit sneaky of them :o

Yep there are 4 MDI cables to choose from - MDI-Ipod, MDI-USB, MDI-miniUSB and MDI-3.5mm aux jack....

I asked for the MDI-Ipod cable but guess which one my dealer ordered and sent to me? -The friggin 3.5mm jack version......doh!! Quite what the point of that cable is I'll never know as it essentially turns the MDI unit into a simple aux-in point which every fabia already has!

its the same for the montecarlo,it states in the brochure that its included with the car, the dealer first said the cable is extra, until i showed him the dealer info on the monte that i got given in january, which states that the dealer should make sure that the cable is ordered at the dealer and included in the car on handover, which he accepted, but he said that with the vrs you have to buy one,one was included in my wifes monte,so il remind him again next week when i pick up mine

I had one free of charge with my 2011 VRS :)

Although it's faulty and haven't had time to take the car to the dealership yet. :(

Does every fabia get a free mdi cable I have the Amundsen so should I receive one

with the vrs you have to buy one,

Dealer is talking nonsense, cable is included in the price of the vRS so nobody should be paying extra....

My cable finally arrived today -well pleased with it
