How did you 'find skoda'?

Featured Replies

I had a Mondeo a few years back and decided to chuck it out. Anyway it was between one of the very first Fabia's, (a 1.4 I think) or a mk 3 Golf. In the end I opted for the Golf because it was used and cheaper. I had that for 2 years, then traded that in for a mk4 Golf, had that for a couple of years and then the mighty vRS was unleashed. Trouble was i was just into the HP agreement with the Golf and had no way of getting the vRS....so I waited  .....and waited  .....and waited  until I could no longer and traded the Golf in last Sept for a new Fab vRS :D .

So you see, whilst many claim on here to be the first owners of the Fabia vRS I was sooooooo close to getting the Fabia years ago when they were first introduced.........justification for me that i did not jump on any bandwagon as soon as they started becoming 'desirable'. I was there with intent at the very beginning

I had a clio 65bhp dci. I like diesels but was absolutely appalled by Renaults customer service. The build quality of the Clio was truly awful. So after a year it was time to just look around. I had 3 cars on my short list and they were the Focus TDCI sport, very nice but too expensive, the Seat Ibiza TDI sport, again too expensive and finally the Fabia VRS. Like everyone else here went to the Skoda garage had a test drive in the Silver demo and purchased there and then. That was over 14 months ago. Brilliant car.

Was looking for a replacement for my high mileage merc. Saw the octy vRS in what car, went to dealer saw it and then put down the deposit on the one in the showroom without even driving it. Never looked back.

Needed to replace my nackered Ford Escort with something with a huge boot... driving past local skoda dealer.... saw a two year old Felicia GLXI Estate out front for

Looking for a new car to replace my wifes Puma. Test drove Hyundai coupe / Toyota Celica / Honda TypeR how much insurance!! /Lexus IS200 too expensive / MG ZS 180 fast but old + too loud styling / ZT - same again /Golf GTTDi too expensive

Then I met Chavyboy at a Party saw his Furby went out in it.. The following weekend took the wife (who didn't want to go) both drove the car and ordered one the following week. The only car we could afford to buy new and by far the best drive / speed and overall handling (not Tiff drivers). Now I'm awaitng to trade the mondeo for an Octy VRS...

i was flickin threw the red line mag at work and saw a pic of ross clarks motor, this pic sold me on the idea of a furby and the very next week i was on to skoda bury ordering my black vrs. then whilst browsing the interweb i found briskoda and as they say the rest is history!!

Jesus I ought to be on commission, nice one :)

to be honest mate i thought it was a dark bottle green colour of the pic? lol it was the colour that sold it, then realised it was black and the photo was taken next to a green garage and it was the reflection!! lol lol

Originally wanted vRS Octy, but they had a gleaming Silver Elegance 110Tdi in the showroom, and the wife noticed the cheaper running costs, road tax, mileage and OTR Price. Well - She won. Damn Wife ;) Am now a diesel convert and have only 10 Days till i pick up my 2.0 PD TDI Elegance. woohoo

Skoda's have been around for ever have'nt they..? Never really thought too much about buying one tho' until had a look at the cars when No 1 son wrote off his previous car and he really fancied the Fab vRS as a replacement - insurance caused him to look elsewhere however. As my good lady wife's car needed replacing recently, decided to take her for a test drive in a 'nice little car I've found for you dear' - done deal!! Shiny new red Fab vRS. Only problem now is trying to find excuses/reasons for me to borrow her car more often. ;)

I really like the new Octy as well and can see me having one of them in due course.

...oh, and son is real miffed that his mum is driving around in a vRS instead of him :D

Needed to offload the missus's (sp) ailing 1.0 12v Corsa :thumbdwn:

Most other small cars, KA, Clio etc involved putting down a hefty deposit and you were tied into an HP deal. Skoda gave us a good trade in on the Corsa and a decent affordable finance deal on a new LTD. ED. Furby Blackline.

I liked the Furby a lot, so when push came to shove and I took a new job needing a 2nd car I bought my vRS in Sept '04.

Wanted an upgrade from the 1.4 TDI Polo, fancied an Ibiza Sport but was disappointed on the test drive with the ride quality and the gloomy interior with the high wasit-line. The Fabia vRS was perfect...

All Paula's fault! :D

She had a Felicia when I first met her and remember being very impressed with it. I had a company car at the time and was changing to a job with better pay but no company car.

Went down to Ashford to look at a Honda Accord because I wanted something reliable with lots of toys for the 120 mile round trip from Maidstone to Staines. Looked at said Honda when Paula dragged me over to Caffyns Skoda across the road. Went into the showroom and there was a black, lowered, bodykitted Octy SLXi Turbo with burgundy leather! :D Up to then I didn't even know there was a turbocharged petrol Octavia.

I have never fallen in love with a car before but both of us knew it was the one for us so we bought it.

Unfortunately circumstances changed and we had a 2 year period without an Octy before returning with the current yellow vRS. Best car for the money in the world!

I was originally looking for a Golf GTI and whilst working up in Scotland got talking to one of the local on site engineers who had just bought his second Octavia. He raved about the car and suggested I looked at the vRS version.

After being rather sceptical and badge conscious initially I decided to pop out at lunchtime and pay the local dealer a visit. Ended up test driving the one in the showroom and decided there and then I was going to buy one. After some haggling over the following week I managed to get the one I'd test driven for a knock down price.

Now on my second one and not had a day of bother with either of them.

Changed jobs about 4 years ago so no more company car :( looked for ages for the right car ....needed to carry 4 adults and tow a caravan plus must be cheap to buy and run eventually tried a Skoda dealer Fish Bros in Swindon but got there just as the sales man was swapping a new spare tyre from one fabia to his own  also he wasn't going to give a test drive as he didn't have an sdi octavia estate for me to drive and in his words all the others wouldn't be same. so we left went to Turners at Earlstoke and was handed the keys to a tdi straight away and was asked if I would come back in about half an hour.........test drove the car and went straight in and ordered a 1.9 sdi estate there and then.. brilliant car 3 years no problems then I saw Turners ad in the paper octavia 1.9 tdi pd 130 elegance hatch phoned up immediately and got first refusal. test drove it and came back with a big grin and bought it, still makes me grin every single time I drive it, my son who is learning loves driving it :D Skoda are the best cars I have ever had and I have been through quite few offerings from Vauxhall, ford, Rover and peugeot I would NEVER buy Vauxhall again the dealer service is terrible.

Found Briskoda just searching for Skoda on the net

At the time I needed to replace an ancient Renault, Skoda were the only people offering 0% finance. That got me a Felicia, and that was followed by a Fabia TDI and then my current vRS.

I was at the Stonleigh Natioanl show when the Octavia was first launched. Saw boot size and thought we must have one of those. Had 1 child at time but when no.2 came along so didi Octy.

I'd been admiring the Octy for a while - and vaguely considering one for my next car. But I was really after an Audi A4 Avant. Went to the Audi Stealer and was treated like dirt. Went to the Skoda dealer and the attitude was so different!

Also I was looking at 10 grand less for the vRS than the 1.9tdi A4. Nearly bought the black vRS estate they had second hand but I talked myself into a new one so I could get Xenons!

The Skoda's the best car I've had - I'm well pleased with it :-)

A friend in the early eighties had a rally prepped esttelle that was pritty rapid (no pun) then when my Astra had to go in '94 I got my first favorit then the wife a favorit, then a Felicia then a Fabia vRS then an octy estate and now chopping Felicia for another Fabbia (the rip snorting 1.2) so for the last 11 years we have had at least one skud in the family.

From watching the WRC I liked the shape of the Octavia. I went to the San Remo round of the WRC a few years ago and seeing it on the stages thought it looked the business. When the Octavia vRS came out here I went and took one for a test drive (not thinking that I could insure one), I rang up for a quote and then there was no stopping me, the Astra I bought new the previous year had to go :D .

Had a Honda Civic 1600 VTEC on one of those PCP plans where you pay a balloon payment at the end of the agreed term Never could take to it and at the end of the term, the car was worth less than the balloon payment so we sent it back and paid nothing (as you are allowed to do) Apparently no-one had done this before. Then I remembered that a friend had been saying how good the Skoda Octavia looked and we sent along to Frank Cook Motors in Wellingborough and test drove one. Looked at the Fabia but dismissed it because of the small boot. Bought a second hand one (12 months old) After 2 years went back to Frank Cook but he had lost the franchise so looked on the internet for local Skoda garages and ended up going to Forward Motors in Luton (now gone like so many others). Bought a 2.0 Elegance but for various reasons we wanted to change it and while it was being serviced, I test drove a VRS Had to have one after that and arranged to pick up a brand new one for my birthday in July 2003. Still think it's the best car I've ever owned.

Think I found Briskoda whilst trying to find out something about the car when Forward Motors had gone (so couldn't ask them) Before that, I never thought I would join a forum and yet now, I'm on here (so is wife sometimes) every evening checking out what's been going on.

Bought the Furby vRS based on being bored stiff in the US for 3 months  - I was comparing cars, prices and the level of toys included. Depressing when you can buy a better spec car in the US but that's a btw.

Looked at a fair few cars, Mazda 3 amongst them, and the Furby. Also looked at the Octi, but based on my current situation I reckoned the Furby would be big enough.

Had a little 'punch-up' regarding the colour of the seats in the vRS with the Mrs, but she was convinced too after I took her back to the dealer after a testdrive (dealer in Newbury).

Friendly and flexible responses. Only annoying thing was the long wait, or should I say IS the long wait, to get it for real. I was told about it, so it's no big deal, but still :D

Found the site as part of my usual research into cars and their owner's experiences and kinda stuck around since
