White or Blue VRS

Featured Replies

Guys, have ordered a new VRS. Have a few days to decide which color to go for. I currently have a Race Blue pre FL. Its a lovely colour, as is the Candy white which just seems to suit the FL shape. Question is do I stick with the Blue or go Candy white and risk having white as I'm concerned its a fashion colour that will go out of fashion soon.

Is white a 'fad' colour? Opinions welcome. And pics welcome too :)

Thanks.

Personally I would stick with the blue (but I would say that as I went from a blue preFL to a blue FL). White is imho a fad colour which will be out of fashion soon (only a few years ago white cars were hard to sell and one reason why most police cars are now silver and not white) and are also very hard to keep looking clean.

If I were in your lucky position of buying a new VRS I would definately go for the Racing Blue. I love the white (there is one at work) but would deep down wish I'd picked the blue if I'd gone for any other colour.

I just feel that the blue is the 'right' colour for the VRS, just like blue is the right colour for a scooby, red for a ferrari, etc ...

You're not even considering the best colour for the vRS?

Get Athracite - don't follow the crowd, get the colour that really does look the best! :)

Race Blue gets my vote too. It's the right colour for the car, just as Focus ST's look right in orange and Imprezas look best in metallic blue with gold alloys.

White will go out of fashion again soon, just as it did a few years ago, IMHO.

Every other vrs is blue and to be honest it does nothing for me. White has become too common too so my advice is get black because they are rare yet look great.

Go for blue, I think it suits the car the best and won't date as I think white will.

White looks good but you see quite a few Audi's in white and it's nice to have something different.

I was in same position with dealer on phone asking for the colour. It was between white and blue. I looked out of the window and saw 2 white fl taxis so now have our second vrs in race blue. Picked it up on thursday. Only problem is that nobody has relised we have a new car and we don't have the same wow factor when we see it. But that said race blue is unique to the vrs. The best thing about it is the bigger wing mirrors what an improvement they have made when reversing. There was a black one in when we picked it up it did look smart if i'm honest. But black cars have always been unlucky for us.

Have to admit I was tempted with Race Blue but once I set eyes on a Candy White Estate it just had to be!

35k and 1 Year on , still happy with the decision. :)

Another shout out here for the anthracite one...although that white estate does look nice

Do not buy Blue. For f00k sake.

There is a fundemental reason why Blue should not be bought..

That reason is:

Candy white is the best looking/most eye catching/most suitable for FL/looks the best/

Forget Herbets that say everyone has got a White vRS.

They are only saying that because they regret not buying a white one for themselves.

Seize the opportunity to acquire a beautiful car in a stunning colour.

White is for wedding dresses & wedding Limos.

Up to you so why ask our opinion.

Whatever floats your boat, enjoy the car

White & Black are both great when they're spotlessly clean!

Silver & Anthracite will hide the dirt!

Race Blue, looks the best but is very common.

Red is OK. as it's non metallic it's cheaper to have, but it sort of looks cheap!

Yellow... Who wants to drive a oversized banana? emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Sorry chaps but it blue all the way i'm on my second and love it, will admit the anthracite looks goood

Talking rubbish there sir :p

Each to their own choice I say

All the vRS colours have merits

I do like the older alloys you get on the paddy spec but Race Blue has my vote

Bought mine second hand and much everything on the market was blue. If I was buying new I'd have gone for anthracite as one of the reasons I like the octavia is it's understated styling compared the golf/leon/etc, and I think the blue is a little too showey for it.

Depends wher you live nearly every taxi in Carlisle is a white octavia. Which is what made us stick with blue

Any colour but white is OK , if you get white you will end up forever polishing the dead bugs of the front end .

I made the mistake of buying an all white Opel Manta years ago which looked beautifull when clean , but then spent the next 5 years battling with dead bugs on the front end and brake dust on the front wheels , i never stopped cleaning the damned thing .

Sorry I totally disagree.

When you compare the Red to Black, Anthracite or Blue, it looks cheap, it simply doesn't ooze the class that the other three have. emoticon-0103-cool.gif

Most popular car colour is still Silver as it has been for at least 7 years. Like all topics its subjective so as long as your happy with it then there is no issue.:)

Being half indian (regarding inference of Taxi colour) you'd be given to think that every time I stop at traffic lights someone would try to get in and shout there destination! :D Hasnt happend yet!

Moving along .....

That wasn't what i was saying. I was pointing out that white is available in all spec of octavia even the taxi spec. I do like the fl vrs in white I was 50/50 until i saw how many taxis there were in white. I don'y know about anywhere else but Carlisle has a hell of alot of White octavia taxis

If I was to go for a brand new one again my order of colour preference would be:

Yellow

White

Red

Anthracite

Blue

Black
