What is it with Nissan Micra drivers

Featured Replies

114 in a 1.0 model must have been, erm.... interesting :D

It was. I did get a thumbs up though from the four lads in an XR3i as I passed them. Needless to say they got me on the next incline though. :giggle:

It's the '40 Bandits' that I hate. 40 everywhere. 40 on the dual carriageway or motorway (often in the middle lane). 40 in a 60. 40 in a 40 (woo!). And, worryingly, 40 in a 30  There's lots of them. There's even a local who does 40 down a street full of speed bumps, how they haven't been nicked and that car is still going, I do not know.

And, quite often, they are in Micras! :giggle:

There's a lot of them on the A64. They hold everyone up in the NSL, then sail away through the villages when the speed comes down to 30mph. As we enter a NSL, the traffic catches them up and the tailback starts again. It's times like these when a rocket launcher on the front of the car would come into play. :D

It should be as illegal to cause hold ups as it is to exceed the speed limit. If it's safe to make good progress, do so, if not then fair enough. On a clear sunny day, 38mph on a straight dry NSL road in a car that will easily do 60mph, there's no excuse.

Rant over - for now.

I got stuck behind a Doris in a Micra the other day. They were doing 35 in a 30, then when the road opened up into NSL, they were still doing 35! Thank god the Scania I was in had a working kickdown! As soon as the road straightened out, I stomped on it, the bus kicked down 2 gears, and I shot past them!

By way of contrast, I happened to follow a very well driven Micra on Thurs evening, on a pretty technical route. Acted as a very good pace setter in fact and was clearly familiar with the route, only breaking when necessary and taken the opportunity to straight line at times. Look up the route between Adlington and Kettleshulme on Google Maps if you want to have a look :)

So they're not all bad

I wonder if he was a Nissan salesman on his way home?

Looked like quite an old chap when he eventually turned off. Could have been, but Micra in question was a bit old on an 03 ;)

Nissan Micra's are my personal hate, as said above there either Doing 40 everywhere including in 30 zones or doing 100mph on the outside lane

As soon as i get behind one i have to overtake it :giggle:

If its being driven at 90 in a 30, and covered in dents & filth, you know it belongs to the local take away :giggle:

Pink micra convertible. Must be contender for ugliest car ever made.

Putting aside the silly over-generalisation of the subject...

There is a stat somewhere that says that some very high percentage of drivers' first cars are the same as they learnt in. Given the number of driving schools using Micras they are driven by a disproportionate number of new drivers.

SWMBO has a Micra - she fell in love with it cos it was "cute" and blue!

It is however the 1.4 SE and is quite good fun to drive - very low geared so noisy as hell on the motorway above 80mph but it pulls like a diesel around town.

Someone in Kesgrave, Ipswich has a Micra painted like the Union Flag! Makes a change from it being a Bini in that style!

There's a young lad I see a fair bit round York in a micra. He's bloody dangerous. I have pulled over and let him pass me a couple of times.

The last three characters of his plate are: KNT

I feel there is a letter missing there!

Is his name Kent?

;)

The only time I've ever been a bit too naughty was in a built up 30....at like 1am.

I'm sat at 30. This Micra has been riding my bumper for a while (The older shaped bubble one from the 90's)... He went to over take so I squeezed a tad harder.. Didn't pick up masses of speed.. just slightly more than he had.. He moved back over and drifted back a tad. Job Done, Lesson taught.

People speeding at night through built up areas is a personal pet hate. Yes, there's less people around.. but the one person that is out will be harder to see!

I borrowed a micra for abit off the other halfs granparents till i found my vrs and there like little go karts,

I used to follow a micra 1.3sr years ago when i had my corsa sport and he never held me up infact it was him overtaking everyone else

It is not only Micra drivers it is Range Rover DISCO's too

I have a Doris on my route to work, along the A92 where there are bends, she pulls out of the farm drive infront of you into the main traffic then travels at 22mph, at every corner slows to 15 the brake lights come on, or if a car approaches on the opposite side of the road, Then just as you get to one of the three possible straights to pass on puts the pedal down, as soon as you pull out to overtake, matches you then when you pull back back to 22mph

I am on my way to work but one day I intend to just keep following until the final destination then pictureize her Unless a Henrys salvage lorry gets there first :-)

Back on topic, I was given a micra as a courtesy car during a service, it went like a rocket No complaints from me

It is the driver girlies, women, and men over 50 who think they are 95

I am 64, in my head I am 25 my body feels like 105 :-)

As a former micra driver and modifier up until last Thursday when I got my fabia vrs, I can truly say there awesome little cars! Engines are so tuneable and so fun to drive, and economical. Cheap as chips. Time to sell :(

Hi all,

Well we have two micra's in our family,95 1.3 and 05 1.4 both belong to my wife but oldest one everyone uses as spare.

When we had snow where I work is on a hill, two car's made it, my mate in his forester and me in a little blue micra.

My two girls like to take it out to show the boy racers how to drive. One even ran into the back of it when they went on a McDonalds his was a wreck. Micra had a split on rear bumper.

Trust me the 05 that wife drives, she beats most of the mark,

I've driven the "new" one - a pile of...rhymes with grit.

Not all are driven "granny" fashion. This was over the weekend!!

Haha! Excellent use of a Micra emoticon-0103-cool.gif

I have a confession

I have a Micra (k11) as my second car. I got really Pi$$ed off with my VRS TDi DPF light going on my 30 mile run to work, so I needed something I could do short journeys to the local shop. I dont care about the image! my other car is a skoda after all.

Apart from being driven by many oldies they are not that slow at all. :smirk: Lots of people drive these slow as the original 155.75's are absolutely useless...They skid all over the place and give you massive understeer and very little braking ability in the wet. I was scared out of my wits when i first had this thing, but put on wider tyres and the thing is totally transformed.

So my Micra is 1.3gx, with 195-50's and YES it handles like a go-kart and I think it looks awesome too as is totally colour coded in Silver, big exhaust, fluffy dice etc...

I also bought some interior carpet and trim from a pro-fitter and stuck it all over those nasty flowery door cards and some nicer seat trim too.

Dare I say it, it is just as fun as the VRS, not as fast of course, but for sheer fun and chuckability its v good - but dont tell everyone or they will all be doing it. Its quite a sleeper in the handling stakes.
