Is Maxidot worth it?

Featured Replies

Just ordered an Octy VRS CR estate using all the company car budget. Managed to include rear park sensors and spare wheel but now I am niggled by the fact that I won't have Maxidot (I will have to pay privately for this). I have not changed the settings on my Seat Leon in two and a half years so figure once the car is set up I won't miss what I don't have. Are there any Maxidot features that enhance the VRS experience? I would be grateful for opinions. Thanks.

I have maxidot and for the low cost of it I would have it everytime. Although it does not have any must use functions it just looks better than the standard LCD and really makes the car feel a little more luxurious.

The appearance difference between maxidot and standard is not so marked on the facelift model as it was before - both are white on black display.

Maxidot has a more comprehensive display than the standard: permanent display of outside temperature, permanent display of total mileage. Ability to show oil temperature.

You can change display to show the mp3 track info or radio station currently playing on the Bolero.

Maxidot option is not very expensive and well worth it.

If you decide to ammend your order, don't take too long as the dealer will get all mardy on you and say it can't be changed.

AND DON'T FORGET THE SPARE FULL SIZE WHEEL FOR £55 OR SO !

A lot more expensive after delivery.

Worth having but wouldn't say its a must have.Saying that though i have the maxidot on the pre FL 08 model, the FL with maxidot is better from what i know/hear.

I have it and to be honest once the car is set up you don't need it really.

I wouldnt do without it, due to it now have the Oil Temp feature, very useful on a VRS!

As already mentioned, I have the facelift, and the actual look of the standard display is very similar to the maxidot. So dont get it purely on aestetics

In terms of features, most are very superficial or can be set up using other methods, ie key presses, dealer or VCDS

I havent missed it, too happy in the way it drives / looks etc

Save your money

Isn't there an issue with converting the headlamp aim for driving abroad if you don't have Maxidot? Or was that just for Xenon lights?

The biggest thing going for it, in addition to the ability to setup the car without the need for VCDS has got to be information.

For example,

With the standard display if a bulb fails you get a bulb failure light come on, with the Maxidot display it will tell you exactly which bulb has failed in text form saving you the hassle of identifying the bulb.

With the standard display if a door is left ajar, you get a little door open icon, with Maxidot you get a picture of the car showing exactly which door is not shut properly.

Some faults are displayed on the Maxidot which would otherwise need a trip to the dealer to identify,

and lots more,

for the small additional cost to me its a must have.

Since we took a dealer ordered car to beat the del delay we did NOt get Maxidot.

I bitterly regret its absence.

the wee things (so i understand) like being able to reconfigure the door unlocking i.e. drivers door only / all doors on the first plip.

I must say I got really used to seeing the oil temp in my last car & miss this feature in the non Maxidot Octavia.

Cheers

Maxidot = Must have

If you have Xenons & travel abroad, Maxidot is a must. It allows you to change the direction of the beam in seconds.

(Tourist Mode)

Saves an expensive trip to the dealers!

Thanks for all your replies...I'm erring on the side of no Maxidot and putting the funds towards lowering springs or anthracite wheels!
