Felicia 1.8T transplant thread

Featured Replies

Little update on mine..

I have actually ordered the shallow steel bottom sump and pick up pipe now.

Hopefully I'll get it stuck on over the weekend and make a start on the exhaust and maybe look at getting the bigger turbo fitted too.

Then I need to get it mot'd and taxed, fix the leaky sunroof and have some fun with it lol

The shallow sump is from an african spec car and needs the oil pickup pipe and turbo oil drain pipe to be changed.

The oil drain pipe from vw is £90 +vat and I'm tight so I just cut the flange off mine and brazed a slightly smaller pipe into the flange and then brazed the oil pipe over that to join it as the only difference is the mounting holes are clocked around by around 90 deg.

tomorrow I'll start going through all the engine pipework and generally sorting little bits in prep for the rally.

What do you lot reckon is the best way to wire up the high pressure pump in the engine bay?

well on my rally car I used the heated rear window wiring, its ign switched, has a 30A relay and big enough wire etc.. oh and makes a good security immob too lol

Ok cheers, did you just tap into its wiring and just switch the rear heated screen switch when you wanted the pump on?

I was thinking about tapping into the original fuel pump wiring tbh

Yea I pulled the heated window wire out of the loom and used that. Had no use for heated rear window on the rally car

Bit of an update on mine, had my gearbox rebuilt along with having a quaife lsd fitted, longer 5th gear 0.76 from a 8.3, audi tt short shift approx 20%. Also i had my g60 flywheel lightend and have a vr6 luk clutch to go with it.20160422_165527_zpsvyg5gvkm.jpg

Managed to get a freebe dual core aluminium radiator from a Westfield sports car and a streeing wheel!

Mocked up the down pipe and managed to get away with 3" piping thankfully, got about 20mm clearance either side. Since this picture i have changed it slightly and sent it off to be welded, didn't fancy it myself.

20160208_212500_zpscwuaco8j.jpg

Then i thought about the turbo intake pipe, was going to buy 80mm one from badger 5 as i run one on my mk2 golf but thought i'd save some money and make my own, plus can do it in green this way aswell lol!

20160319_185225_zpsyyzw8abv.jpg

Then i thought i'd try the wheels over the beefy 300mm brake, just about fit behind the wheels. Didn't think they'd need upgrading again so staying with this setup.

Have a tiny amount of welding left to do then i can build it up as i have all the parts, so shouldn't be long now!

Nugget do you have any 1.6 16v conversion bit going spare?

I may have some bits in the back of the garage but not too sure. Pm me to save clogging this thread.

I have a question....

How do you make an AGU ecu work in a standard felicia loom??

I saw that you have to find an ecu with an immo defeat program or use an entire loom from a donor car...

Im interested in the first option.

Is it difficult to wire it up? Tom didn't mention how did he solve this problem.

It's not actually too difficult, you have to mate the felicia engine loom with the 1.8t one, i had a plug and play loom made by a very reputable chap off clubgti for £120. Won't even need to touch any of the wiring just plug it back into the original connectors by the battery in the bay.

You can get an ecu immo defeated for about £50.

ok I see.

You have an AGU ecu with an immo defeat and a custom made loom from that chap?

Do all the clocks work? rev counter, engine temp....

I have a crazy idea of running a different engine on an AGU ecu in the felly. Just curious if it's doable & gathering ifo. Difficult to find anything on the wireing side....

Yeah that's correct, everything should work as normal, i should be fitting it this week.

Good luck & let us (me) know if it works. :)

keep posting photos too ;-) very much interested :-D

That exhaust must be a nightmare to fit around hydraulic tubes & steering rack behind the engine. Makes you sweat and say some nasty words ;-)

Do i need the ecu bracket from a 1.3 Felicia to fit the agu ecu?

Also for the starter motor/reverse switch/alternator could i just whip that out of a mk4 golf save mixing and matching plug ends?

Think the mpi ecu bracket is what you need.

The wiring for alt make be the same depending what engine you had originally and I would just cut the plugs for the rev switch and starter and solder the golf ones on.

OK mini update on mine..

I originally suspected the exhaust to be restricting the power. So after I got her mot'd last week I started on the exhaust.

Logs showed that the airflow meter was reporting a max of 128g/s with the diesel system on there which is thought was a bit low as it made .8 bar psi boost but it tailed off after 4500rpm.

Tried it with no exhaust in and it read 150g/so and boost held thru the revs.

Soo out came the grinder and welder. I bought a 3" cherry bomb exhaust silencer and chopped up some octy exhaust pipes.

Then made an end to bring it past the sill lol 20160514_163837_zpsgqfsu2aa.jpg

Now she flies and has a bit of a bark too.

This particular diesel middle box has a restriction halfway down that's about 1" dia and 5 inches long! !20160514_163837_zpsgqfsu2aa.jpg.

Also fitted 2 bucket seats bit no pictures yet.

Cheers Jim, in the end i used the mk4 alternator loom with the correct plug, then soldered the reverse and starter plug to the original Felicia wiring.

Had it running today for the first time but only runs for a few seconds as i haven't had the ECU de-immo yet.

I think for your application Jim a 2.5" system would be ideal.

All sorted car behaved itself very well and apparently is almost as quick as an 800 bhp mustang to 110mph

I gave loads of pics to put up and a few vids but i may have to "edit" the vids first lol..

Its been mega but i think I may have to sell her as the house I'm buying is taking longer than expected and I'm going to need more money now :(

This for sale?

My friend just linked it to me on facebook!

If only i had the money - sold my mx5 and still too skint!

Unfortunately yes it is. I've been in the process of buying a house since February and they now say it could be another month. So as I'm only able to work part time I need the money for more rent etc.

I see you've taken it off eBay. Hopefully that means you've sold it to someone on here or decided not to sell it at all. If you have sold it I hope the new owners know about this thread. I've been following this for several years, as I suspect have many others, and would like to know what happens to it.
