THE car of the moment?

Featured Replies

Put all your prejudices to one side.Ignore the Top Gear and What car views and awards,in fact ignore all recent surveys and magazines.Pick just one car that you believe really is THE car of the moment.

Choose anything.Bugatti Veyron? Fabia vRS? BMW 1 series? New Octavia?Citroen C4? doesn't matter.Doesn't matter about make, price etc, just one car.The choice is yours!

I would just be interested to know what the one car is that keeps popping into your head from the current crop.Don't dither, don't slate other cars, just pick one!

My choice? New Golf GTi.Sorted.

DB9 Please!

based on waiting lists for a real world car.... the new boxster.

next one will be the new TT

Ford Explorer

I kinda hate myself for saying this, but I agree with Laurence - the new Golf GTI. After the last two being such duffers I didn't really think it'd be up to much, but it really does seem to tick all the boxes (except the price - I think it's a rip-off when you compare it to its peers!)

The C4's grabbing lots of attention, despite being all mouth and no trousers (a return to form for Citroen then! ;) ), but one thing I am glad about is the fact that the 1-series doesn't appear to be the huge success BMW wanted. I'll admit to being biased against the blue propellor anyway, but let's face it; it's a gimmick, and no-one except the car hacks have fallen for it (IMO)

New Astra.

Rob.

I used to hate it, but it's growing on me at an alarming rate, especially in the right colours........

New BMW 5 Series.......

I love the Ford GT - absolutly stunning but that is big bucks.

I started to write "But my fav everyday car of the moment is......." and stopped. I started typing this 5 mins ago, and as yet cannot think of 1 car other than above that is really doing it for me 1?!?!

how strange !

If I could afford one, the Maserati spyder. If I could get into one, the Daihatsu Copen....

I'll fly the flag for work and go for the V8 Vantage

DB9 for me too. No contest really. Saw one at a garage today and stared for quite some time! The lines, the stance - just incredible. So, group buy anyone

I grew up dreaming of Ferraris but (thanks to Ford I suppose) have changed my mind in recent years and would just love a DB9.

Maserati Quattroporte. They look absolutely devine in any dark colour, and sound just as lush.

Sorry chaps, but you're all wrong. V8 Vantage on the option wheel is far better looking than the DB9. Of course this is just my opinion...

DB9 for me too or if push come to shove, Nissan 350Z

Fabia vRS

That's a tough question: there aren't too many exciting cars about at the moment. For me, styling has going way off the boil in the last few years (I even think my vRS Fabia is an ugly little tyke).

I quite like the Accord, but it doesn't look great. It just looks a little more interesting than others in its class.

I'd have to go for the Golf GTi though, because it epitomises the early part of the 21st century: cloying sentimentality, dressed in a competent but soulless imitation of a genuine icon.

Have we run out of originality? Or are giant corporations just really risk-averse?

New Astra.

Hmmm, another bland vauxhall. Dont see why everyone w**ks themselves daft over the look of it TBH its fugly.

Totally agree, can't believe out of the current crop of cars you would pick a F*cksall Astra, b*g of sh*te as Paul Calf would say, its still going to depreciate like funk and has an extremely garish interior, whatever happened to understated( btw I take it you meant Vauxhall's new Golf GTI competitor as opposed to the bog standard Astra (emphasis on 'Bog')... :thumbdwn:
