This prooves how utter c r A p my connection is.... been going now for 2 hours :(

Gutted :'(

Any one on it yet... :)

Only 8 mins left,i hope,lol.

You are all doing better than me, left mine downloading from itunes and whilst doing so windows decides to do a windows update and restart.Grr

Downloaded and now backing up my phone.

I for 1 am NOT getting excited about an Apple product. It is however highly suspicious that with all the court cases that Apple have trying to stop the competition, that Blackberry instant messaging happens to stop working on the day that Apple release their own emoticon-0104-surprised.gif

More likely script kiddy attack based on BBM handing over logs from the riots.

But how long until they admit it?

Knowing how the last update went, I decided to 'Download Only' instead of also doing the update.

Just one problem - it appears to have done it but where's the default download location? :(

Two failed backups due to servers overloaded,oh well.

After trying loads of times and getting restore failures due to internal errors, its finally installed on my 16gb IP4. guess Apples servers must be overloaded. Was worried at one point as my phone got stuck in a reboot loop, needed to force DFU mode to get out of it several times.

They knew there would be a heavy load, so why didnt they sort out their servers.

The servers are like this whenever Apple release an update like this.... Don't forget this was released WORLDWIDE at exactly the same time not staggered country by country / timezone by timezone. It just took me nearly an hour to download the iTunes and Safari updates at a total of 60 meg which normally takes about 5 minutes from start to finish.

Cheers

Dave.

Same here.. my ipad keeps failing to backup :(

Can't people wait?

I'm done. Took 2 hours from initial press the button to download through to actual usability. Nothing really new that I will use tbh.

Well took 5 hours to update two phones. Had to use the restore function too on both of them. Nicci's not going to be impressed in the morning when she finds I just sync all the apps.

All done now ,geez what a hassle, thought i bricked the phone at one stage as it wouldn't do anything.

After the initial download it went onto the phone perfectly and very quickly.

The notifications work flawlessly and I actually get notifications from Facebook an emails which used to be poor.

:)

What do others think?

I like it alot. Not a huge difference in look or feel which is good but it's full of nifty tweaks. Anybody noticed increased battery usage tho :o

Try doing a couple of reboots straight after each other, (Hold home and lock buttons together till you see the apple logo on screen). This was an issue with lots of people when iOS4 was first released and worked for me back then.

Cheers

Dave.

For the benefit of anyone like myself with a 3GS.... A friend has just been in touch to say he's upgraded his 3GS and everything is running fine and just as well as iOS4 did. He's also JB'd it, although it's a tethered JB at the minute, but again it's still all running well on a 3GS.

At least that's something after the problems iOS4 caused with the 3G phones.

Cheers

Dave.

Cheers mate.

Getting to grips with iOS5 and iCloud after playing about for a bit. The new iPhoto streaming is pretty cool and I like the way that when you download an app on your phone iTunes does the same. All in all i'm quite impressed and more than happy.

Finally done both mine after a while trying last night. Some nice little bits added, iMessages is a nice little touch as is the camera button on the lock screen and the choice to slide straight to text message when revived. The kinda "status" screen that you scroll down from the top is handy, although it`d be nice to maybe have some other widgets to put on it.

Completely agree about the widgets... I removed the widget with the stock market and stuff on! Who actually looks at that lol!

More widgets would be sweet :)

How did you do that? I didn't think it was possible to remove them.
