Who has Xenon's?

Featured Replies

Do the washers actually have a separate pump, or are they just done using splitters off the "normal" pipework?

Never mind, found a pump for €22, but needs separate loom by the look of it :(

I suppose it could be bodged using relays wired into to the normal pump and headlights, but I suspect I'd be out of my depth pretty quickly.

Need the dual pump and the other washer bottle with two outlets. These are the parts im trying to source. Washer bottle, extra pump, two headlight washers and caps.

Sorley tempted to rob a bank and be in. As it stands I'm out :D Unsubscribing as this thread is getting an insane number of replies :D

Could this be the quickest GB in Briskoda history?

Quite possibly! Defo the fastest one I've seen fill so quickly!

Bet the person can't belive the luck that so many people want them!

I'd also be interested but will await the discounted price before I commit!

Just to keep myself right about this, to do this mod properly I would need:

-2x projector headlamp enclosures (ie. the ones on ebay here and here)

-HID kit here.

Is this all? Providing I level them properly?

I understand to pass an MOT they would have to be self-levelling and also have washers?

That's the wrong HID kit. That would be the one if you're just putting it in the reflectors, but as these are OEM projectors, uses OEM D2S bulbs.

Cheers for that. So we're talking the guts of £300 to do this? I'd love these but i might just buy some £20 osrams!

Would love to see how much we could get it down to in a group buy.

There won't be any issues come mot time. Worst comes to worst I'd say change the bulbs for something more yellow an the moter won't notice. As long as the beam level is fine they will be spot On :) they will be no diff from any other projectors lights only slightly brighter :) can't wait for my bulbs to arrive. :) anxious tho how the black inners will look on my silver fab? Or I could be splitting them very soon lol if I split them do the inners come out easily? So I could just swap them with my Oem inners in my existing lights? I like the clean look :)

Sweet, i'm really tempted by this! Could anyone possibly do a before and after comparison like looking at the car straight on, then the beam difference? Wouldn't mind seeing that!

And wilsy, does this one have the black lining:

Yeh that one does, I like the front end of that but it suits it with the lamin x, the black grill and fog surrounds etc.

D2S bulbs and adapters purchased :)

Congrats :) mine were posted this morning :) I think the thread title should be changed from who has xenons to who wants xenons lol

Not sure if this is of any interest to anyone, or if it's built in such a way it's easily possible, but you might want to look into the 'washer' mod before fitting them.

http://www.3si.org/forum/f1/headlight-projector-modification-447937/ See post 3.

In short, gives a more defined cut off and the blue tints you see on the edge of some lights. I tried to to this to the factory xenons on my Polo, but the body of the light stopped me removing the projector (and I couldn't even get the Mazda ones off the car!).

I ended up ordering my set today, along with some 4300k D2S bulbs, and relevant connectors. Can't wait for them to arrive now! :D

Don't suppose we have possible GB prices yet?

That's given me such inspiration! That's a really nice looking fab IMO

This is turning into one of the best threads in the fabia 1 section

Thats my mates old car! Not seen a picture of it for ages, was very nice, the first hybrid fabia I drove that made me wanna do mine. Didnt have any lamin-x tho, they were just lights he de-chromed himself iirc.

Had few thoughts on the xenon setup. As i`v already said, I dont know how washers would be tested because the only work once in a while. With the levelling, if your running lowered, surely it`ll just set the lights really low? Also, how are they going to test for self levelling?

Since the Skoda set up seems to be one light wash with every set number of screen pumps, it isn't very difficult to work out, is it? Keep pumping until it does.

From what I've been told it willl be while they are checking the steering and suspension.

I was at my garage today having some new tyres fitted and they were saying that in the last month they have failed several cars with after-market HID kits, most of them on excess glare, indefined cut-off on the test screen, and another on incorrect coloured (too blue) light. They also had someone with a red LED strips fitted around his headlights!!

From what I've been told it willl be while they are checking the steering and suspension.

How does that work then?

Theres a bracket on the rear axle, passenger side for the self leveling sensor, guess they could look for it when underneath but i cant see them going that in depth, plus they aint gonna know every single car inside out. They only self level now and again but they can still be adjusted via the wheel (which according to the new mot rules this was ok.) just make sure the motors work, again, ive never seen my mot tester check this.

This is my point, if you know every cars inside out then you it`ll be easy. But the MOT man isnt going to know how often the washers work or where exactly the levelling sensors are on every single car. The MOT bod I spoke to said he`ll look to see if there is washers or a "hatch" for a washer to come out from. He hasnt got time to hold the screen washers on for ages, nor any way to check levelling.

Self levelling doesn't do anything but blind people anyway

It would be really useful if somebody who is doing this upgrade could do a quick 'how to' in the technical guide section? There is alreday one for removing lights I think.

I can't wait for GB prices!
