Fabia vRS slated by Auto Express

Featured Replies

Their long term car. They complained about the 'build quality' questioning a piece of plastic that had come off next to the door handle and was it bad design.

They suggested skoda owners should all be supplied with a tube of super glue :D

Apart from that....THEY LOVE THE LITTLE MONSTER

(only a couple of paragraphs in the long term up date so no reason to rush out and buy the mag ;) )

tbh i agree with the build quality its worse than renaults :(

Slam a door on a Fabia and then on a Clio. The 'build' quality is far better on the Fabia, but the trim and assembly quality is closer !

ok then i mean trim quality

and i owned clio before the fabia and the 172 rattles far less except when i had the exhaust on

Ours is excellent.

I call ours the mini audi!

It was only a tiny piece of plastic. The car + trim are top class I think.6 months of ownership now

That's a brave call :P . I've got both and the Renaults are nice cars, but they are flimsy in all departments when compared to the Fabia

I'm having similar trim problems with my 1996 Felicia. A small plastic blanking plate under the front passenger armrest has fallen out. Things aren't made like they used to be...:(

mine just rattles everything rattles !!!!! the rear light cluster rattles things in the back somewhere rattle the door pulls rattle the dash rattles in various places etc etc

Nothing rattles in mine at all. The plastic cover over the rear washer did come loose though & doesn't seem to 'fit' very well now I've put it back. Other than that the car is much better build quality than anything else I've had before (Fords, Renault, Pug, Vauxhall).

The 'little bit of plastic' is common happened to my mums and to a lot of people on here!

Mine 172 squeeked like feck with 4K on the clock the Fabia doesn't at that's got 7.5K on the clock :D

I've got 18k miles and the only noise is my seat creaking under acceleration, which I will get fixed under warranty.

Maybe you should have stuck to Renaults... BTW, I've been in several renaults, and the build quality is crap.

Doesn't sound good at all  Have you taken it back to the dealer at all to try and get things sorted?

yes and it was quiet for a day but then it just starts again its off for a service soon so will get them to look at it then

i still love the car tho :D

its now done 19100 miles ish

I agree. I've been in my mates Audi A3 2.0TDI Sport loads of times and the level of build quality isn't far off that or of the Golfs/Polos.

Took my car to dealer because there was one rattle in drivers door and one in rear of car....was a bit worried as they didnt always occur and didnt want to seem too pedantic/time wasting! Anyway they diagnosed both...the control switch for mirrors was broken inside the door and they also replaced a rear seat fitting. They were happy to do it and now no more rattles. :)

Cant imagine that happening at my old pug dealer

Im confused when I test drove loads of cars I found the skoda seemed to be the best built the MG had to be worst

looks like they must of had a lemon then in there long term test

or they where attacking the plastic with a Sledgehammer

Had 2 x Golfs, 1 x jetta and my little fabia is equal if not better in build quality.....must be a dodgy batch

Most rattles aren't that hard to fix... having owned a Peugeot with a big stereo in it, I have a keen ear for rattles and a variety of methods of dealing with them!!! But it's rarely that much of an issue to fix them.

Incidentally, Fabia doors rattle much less (i.e. not at all) if you take the door cards off and insulate the skin with sound damping felt or something similar. Same goes for the boot. Done both, my car is almost rattle free and very quiet! Now if only I could figure out how to stop both rear seat release handles from rattling...

Most cars will eventually end up with a rattle - and yep, most are easily sorted as well :)

My last car was a Clio 172 and the Fabia is screwed together much better, and has no rattles or creaks and a much better ride quality.

My car choice after flogging the BMW was MG ZS 180 or Furby vRS. I know it sounds an odd choice, but I wanted summat I could have a laugh driving and wouldn't cost me a packet... I tested an 04 ZS which was OK, stiff drive but had an annoying rattle in the door despite only 1200 miles on the clock, then the fabia... I could have bought a 51/02 ZS for

For what it's worth I cured the rear seat release rattle by sticking a piece of the furry side of Velcro round the steel loop on which the seat release engages. The lock now grips tight and sits snug with no rattles.

Same on mine , answer wedge a pocket tissue pack between the seat back and latch , that fixed mine . :finger:

4.5 k on the clock and no squeeks or rattles

which is an acheivement for any seat that has my fat ass on it.

Rear door no longer unlocks due to catch no working, but probably something to do with the bodyshop touch up after some muppet keyed it !
