Cumbrian Run 2012

Featured Replies

There was a steep hill climb up a pass, the one where you can see Scotland from the top. Wow them hair pin bends & steep drops where a bit scary. I'm glad we all went slow & safe up that one. Never seen such nice roads and the views where awesome on the passes.

Yeah did you sort your car out Ian or have progress with the people who installed them injectors?

  • Not long back meself... Cracking weekend as ever - especially the massively speedy run up kirkstone pass lol!

I moved in to the left lane as it was safe to do so. She was far enough distance to do so safely & with out cutting her up. Even if she did not break on the corner its no way possible for to hit me as long as i don't also break sharp which off course i did not do.

Still - passing on a corner and a hump?

As for going back into the left lane... Why bother if you're intending to pass her anyway? Surely staying in the right hand lane would have made more sense? Especially if there wasn't anyone behind you aiming to pass. You would have made your intentions (i.e. overtaking) perfectly clear to her instead of spooking her by pulling behind her to then pull around her... You would have been in and out of her blindspot and that is not a great idea.

Y'know the joy of car cameras? You can not only pick out other peoples bad driving habits, but then look back at things and learn things about your own driving and points to improve.

That's all i'm saying. Jayneyyy's lane discipline was a little iffy - but her overtake was clean and yours was a little reckless at speed which would have spooked a lot of people. If you had stayed in the right hand side lane making your intentions perfectly clear, it would have been a lot safer - well, relatively considering the speed you were doing.

For christs sake give it a rest you lot

^^^^^ agreed^^^^^ talk about putting a downer on a great weekend.

Jeeeeeez, say sorry and be done. Sorted

god this sounds like a right mothers meeting!!!!!!

i thought the idea of having a faster car was to leave the other slow kas behind lol... especially on a run... both the overtakes on the video look a bit dodgy as the road is so narrow..... but there wouldnt be two lanes if you shouldnt pass the ones you want to leave behind....i cringed at the ka when she overtook on the bump when you couldnt see what was coming.... till i remembered it was a dual carriageway

That'll be enough of that I think, or I'll just lock the thread.

People have had their opinions now so we will leave it at that shall we?

My apologies, Ian, I'll give it a rest now

I just feel that some people need to realise that a 'run' should still be held within legal limits, and not an eyeballs out beano

I'm not going to lose friends over it, but let's just hope one of these 'runs' doesn't turn into someone's funeral

No worries Mr B, wasn't aimed at anyone in particular. Indeed I agree with many points raised and echo what you say above, something I always try to do and drive at a pace so as to reduce the chances of someone being left behind. Although it will always happen, say when pulling out of junctions, rarely do all make it out together.

You can still enjoy driving without breaking the speed limits.
