I'll go and have a chat with willy soon as well, see if we can "pre book" not that he'll remember! pmsl....

yay! probably the same as last years, to be honest, was £3 per head per night... a field to ourselves that we can take the cars on, no noise restrictions (but no showers!)

http://maps.google.c...042272&t=h&z=15

Gatesgarth farm, buttermere, CA13 9XA

the views are FANTASTIC, just hope for nice weather, as its a bit of a bog at the moment, I advise bringing waterproof sheets to go under your tents!

Its a field behind the farm, we can take the cars on, fires allowed if off the grass, gazeebo's allowed, we will probably have the field to ourselves, there is an outside toilet, and hot and cold running water behing the farm, owners name is willy, sons name John

There is NO shop, (It is just a field at the end of the day!) you are advised to bring bog roll, food ect ect..

If showers are needed, there is a campsite up the road that will accomodate as they are 20p for a shower...

Price.. (now hold on, it is the lakes..) £3 per person per night lol.....

--------------

just copied the above from last years thread... I havent checked with him yet, but will do before time ;)

I know the Gatesgarth Farm very well (we're out and about in that area at least 2 or 3 times a month with youth groups). As you'll probably know they don't usually accept bookings, you just turn up, and they're really not normally fussed about how much noise you make.

I could be wrong but I think the above link points to Dalegarth Camp Site (the one with the showers) not Gatesgarth Farm. If you're lucky, the Trail Hounds may be out that weekend on the Littledale Edge fells - it's amazing watching them speed along the scent trails, I wish I had a fraction of their energy!

If I'm out of plaster by the date of the meet I may come along to introduce myself, put names to faces and then go fill my face with ice cream at Buttermere.

Since last year was fun, why the hell not do it again, plus my fabia has seen some changes in her appearance since the last meet and theres more to come in May ready for VAG Cumbria in July so be nice for some comments and thoughts,

not sure what day but will most likely be the Sunday (depends on route) not doing Hard Kott (kock or what ever its called) hate that road with a passion!

Might attend this for the drive but undecided which day

Planning it so far to be an afternoon/early evening drive to a meal stop on the Saturday, followed by a morning drive on the Sunday.

Ice cream farm stop will be on the Saturday also. Practically finalised the route for the Saturday, so if anyone wants to view it just drop me a PM.

Do we have a dog update? Can I bring the mad hound?

  • Author

99% certain dogs are allowed where we will be camping, its a fiekd at the end of the day lol.

Well Gilly and Wibble had Dusty with them last year :)

There you go Loz. Cheers for that Sam.

Cool, will prob bring him along then, see how he behaves in a tent!! lol

What is the drive like up there on them country roads? I was watching a Briskoda meet down in Penrith on you tube & thought "holy crap, that looks a fun scenic drive"

If its a nice day & the roads are anything like in that you tube clip then I be down for a drive!!!

Really looking forward to this now :)

Great vid as always mike ;) I like the green vRS! Lol... Hope for sone more good vids this year!

Which roads/car park are featured in the 2nd video??

I will likely be in the Lake District the weekend before this meet and can only remember the Wrynose/Hardknott Pass from when i used to go to the lakes.

There us both whinlatter (the slate mines) and the pub carpark at the top of the struggle into Ambleside ( I forget the name of the pass)

Cheers. :)

Is it the Keswick to Ambleside pass??

Keswick - Ambleside misses out the pass. Penrith - Ambleside can be done across Kirkstone Pass.

The Slate Mine is Honister Pass which is south of Keswick. :)

I organised/lead that run and sadly the videos can only show off a small selection of the roads used. Put Briskoda and Hartside into You Tube and see what you make of it. Roads in a word are awesome up here, and so many to choose.

I check the vids out. I have been to the lakes, must be about 8 years ago when i had my Peugeot 206 and did pop up briefly in March this year when i went to pick up some alloys but will be nice to go back for less of a flying visit in the vRS. :)

I'm deffo down for the next Penrith meet. Them roads are just epic.
