Using the Amundsen

Featured Replies

Satnav maps and music (mp3) on my 32gb sd card. Works great. All my maps and music in the one place. Plays titles from the sd card and reads the maps at the same time. No problems at all.

I'm thinking of buying a new Elegance Fabia Hatchback 1.2 / 105 DSG with the Amundsen unit (UK). I connected my iPod Touch through the MDI interface/Swing Radio but the Swing Radio was sooo slow at scrolling through the iPod's songs that I gave up! Will I be able to scroll through / search through my iPod much faster using the Amundsden touch screen? Does it show the album artwork? And is the sound quality the same as the Swing Radio system?

Also, here in the UK, does the Fabia's Amundsen give me Bluetooth control for my phone, and a DAB Radio? (The Amundsen+ in the Skoda Yeti does because I tried that at the dealers).

Many thanks!

To try and answer your questions (though i own a original not a plus version).

1. The touch screen and /or buttons scroll through music quite fast.

2. My unit does not display any album artwork.

3. No idea about the sound quality vs the swing as never owned a car with a swing unit.

4. Bluetooth is something thats an option on the car I beleive for phones, not built into the admunsen unit.

5. The orginal admunsen does not have DAB. Not sure about the +

Hope this helps.

Thanks!

I understand the + has DAB+ which is what they have in Europe, unfortunately the UK is behind the times.

Yeah uk are behind the times Amundsen + has bluetooth and dab radio, the previous unit had neither that's about it really bigger storage as well I think ?

The new Yeti Urban has the Amundsen + with DAB (first UK Skoda to have DAB as standard fit)

Pretty sure the DAB is disabled on the fabia version of the + unit, it doesn't have te aerial etc. Neither does it have Bluetooth, this is a separate unit and option located under the seat.

Just took delivery of a new Fabia with the + unit and the DAB is indeed disabled.

Just ordered a Fabis Vrs with Sat Nav. DAB should work as its in the user guide. Go back to dealer for fix.

Has anyone tried to use an SD card larger than 32GB? I have a 64GB card but it won't read at all. I just get an error message on the screen. Thanks!

i believe the instruction manual states a 32GB limit for the SD card. This takes the SatNav maps with loads of room for music.

  • 2 years later...

Just got my new Fabia SE-L, which includes the Sat Nav option and I'm curious about the SD card slots, if anyone can check their situation...

a) the sat nav seems to need the SD card in permanently (my hopes that it used it for initialisation to copy to internal storage seem to be wrong)

B) there is only one SD card slot in the passenger glove box, so with the sat nav card in place that scuppers my plans for 32GB of music to play via that route.

c) the screen display lists two SD card slots (currently showing the navigation card in one of them)... plus the USB, etc.

The Skoda garage chap couldn't find another slot and he apparently has called Skoda who seemed confused about it with no useful answer yet.

Does anyone know if there is a second card slot, or if there's a way to free up the single obvious slot yet retain the sat nav.

Since I'm guessing it only reads SDHC (up to 32GB) and not SDXC (much higher), I expect there to be some but maybe not much free space on that sat nav card as supplied.

It isn't a big problem, as I'll probably just buy a large capacity stubby USB card for music, but I wasn't expecting the sat nav to hog my SD slot!

Thanks for any guidance or help,

Keith

If you have the new Amundsen unit then this thread isn't relevant to you. The older Amundsen units which are being discussed in this thread are completely different to yours, and only share the name.
