Anyway to stop AC coming on AUTO setting?

Featured Replies

Post 22 as I said in post 12 ;), regarding the tyre sensor , It is linked to the ABS and senses how many revolutions your wheels on the axel are doing, if one side is travelling at a greater speed (ie loosing pressure) then the gong and light for the tps comes on. Not really a exact sensor as such. After you have had a new tyre or re- inflated your tyres you need to press it to re-sett or will go off. It is more sensitive at higher speeds because the difference in revolutions is greater

Really??? What a cop out, what's wrong with actual pressure sensors in the wheel? I know they do them - should it not also go off on a roundabout? Hmmm, sounds like a challenge... ;)

No I think it is sett at a high revolution speed, hence more likely to go off at high speed on the motorway if pressures out on each side. I know from a wheel refurber, Range Rovers are £100 a corner for each sensor, and fail quite often

Quote from the manual:

Thank you

I understand now

Ah...

As it happens, last year I was at my friendly garage (does all my work on the E36 and did all my work on my old Octy) when another regular customer popped in driving a brand new RR Sport, his first words? 'F**kin heap of ****, 3 weeks old and already a fault with the tyre pressure system!'

I had to chuckle, he only bought it cos he got 9 points in 6 months with a 911 Turbo (which I'd give my left arm for)...

The aircon is off in economy mode

Thanks BluevRS2 at least i know my aircon aint on all the time , i'll stillngive it a blast occasionally to keep everything working

Not a button I've got on the Elegance :-(

TPM was an option on the Elegance, but standard on the vRS from release on the Mk2. Not really sure why, doesn't quite fit in with the sporty trim level TBH....

And it doesn't actually monitor the pressures.

A mates Jag has one of the fancy systems with sensors in the valves and it causes him no end of problems.

Possibly because the lower profile, stiff sidewall tyres on the vRS don't look flat until they are *very* flat. My TPM 'bong' went off when the offside rear got down to 24psi, relative to the 34psi in all the others. When I stoped to investigate, it really didn't look much different!

As I said, what's wrong with a pressure sensor & transmitter in the wheel? Wouldn't be that expensive...

...Using in winter is rather pointless as it won't work below 2-4c.....

Sorry to hijack the thread, but does anyone know how to get the ReCirc working without the AC coming on? Same point as the OP that I have to hit the AC button to turn that off once recirc is activate.

I drive around chemical sites quite a bit and boy does it smell sometimes!

As an aside though: I have been told there is a company that does, er, 'alternative' labels for the switches....."rockets" "oil" "smoke" etc :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

As fitted to my Yeti indeed:

imgp5699.jpg

Bottom row from left to right:

  • The anti DPF button releasing all the smoke gathered over a few months AT ONCE
  • Park Assist
  • Parking sensors ON (when in a forward gear as they come on automatically with reverse selected)
  • Off Road button
  • Tyre Pressure Monitor
  • Anti slip
  • Front passenger ejector seat - you have to press and hold it for 5 seconds to open the Velux first before it will eject the passenger

And then in the HVAC area:

  • SONAR is for use during heavy fog
  • MISSILES might sound like weapons but are in fact little CCTV cameras attached to tiny rockets to send ahead and show me what traffic is doing (they beam the images back to the Bolero)
  • And not shown (but subsequently fitted to the button below the fan speed is INVISIBILITY. Which does not make the whole car invisible alas, but makes my number plates invisible (James Bond style) by rotating the real plates away.

See this thread to find out where to buy these. B)

They go wrong, quite often.
