  • A bit extreme, but cutting a hole in the roof of this one got the light out.

  • 3's - plenty bright enough!

  • Just a thought with your LED, have you tried fitting it again the other way round?LEDs are sensitive to polarity and will fit two ways and only work one way.

I have replaced mine and they can be difficult. I learnt the hard way and broke a metal clip.

Basically you need a very thin blade screwdriver and need to push a metal clip towards the rear of the car. You need to be very gentle, and make sure you are pushing between the light and the metal frame that goes round the headlining. If in doubt, don't do it.

Here is the light and the clip you need to push.

The metal frame with my broken clip.....

Thanks for that looks easy enough to do I take the bulb in there is the same as the boot bulb then

No, the boot is a 5w capless bulb, The rear passenger seat bulbs are non-canbus festoon type bulbs.

If you find an LED festoon of decent brightness, do let us all know! Superskoda are developing a plug in LED unit to completely replace the standard lights, but they'll be about EUR40 a pair.

I've had good service from these people.

Free next day delivery - you need the 37mm for the rear side interiors. They also supply LED's to fit all the other inrerior bulbs!

Interior bulbs are not on the Canbus system

I tried ordering thee about a month ago - they appeared as being "in stock" and got a refund. The ad. still shows "for delivery in September 2011". Maybe they have some problems?

BTW, just tried to order from Auto-Led and they've sold out of the 37mm festoons in "Cool White."

So did you go for the 3 chip or the 6 chip version?

How do you remove the reading/map lights in the central overhead console? It seems to bend a lot but nothing's coming loose. Or do the indiidual lights come out?

Have a look here !

Thanks.

I'm guessing there's a lot of good info somewhere here. It's just finding it, or is it on the Skoda site Er-Win?

Graham - have you used UltraLED's festoon LEDs in your interior lights? If so, do they seem significantly brighter than the standard lights?

Robin - AutoLED say your 3 emitter festoon lights are "3 times brighter than a standard incandescent bulb". Is this what you have found?

I'm looking for an increase in brightness without going over the top. A reduction in current draw is also a significant attraction of course!

John,

haven't got around to doing the Yeti yet, but I did the Freelander and they were a vast improvement  I've also got some in the caravan and they are much brighter.

I'd agree with that - the interior is brighter than daylight!

I have just fitted my newly acquired Led bulbs to the boot and roof and have to say they are a vast improvement i went for the 6 Led for the door festoon Leds for the doors http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270875892727?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_746wt_1219 and 8 Led's W5W for the roof light http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300615418667?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_2961wt_1219 well all i can say is if i ever lose the car in a car park ill just blip the remote and look for the beam of light to outer space.

Well sat inside its bright but not unruly and i can find things lost under the seats easily

HELP!!

I've got my overhead locker out, undone the two torx screws visible, managed to prise gently the panel from the frame at the rear, but the front end doesn't want to move. Feels like it's fastened with screws.

Anyone changed the bulbs and had this panel out? I'm uncertain about using force and have tried flexible prods to see if there are any more "click in" lugs around the frame - but no luck.

Does this help?

Thanks, but I can manage that bit if I could get there :giggle:

I've got the rear end hanging out from the headlining frame, but the front end seems firmly anchored. There must be a trick to enable the whole panel to swing down?

Does this help?

In a word... No

I've just had a look at mine and tried to twist the actual reading light loose as that diagram suggests.

It does not work.

I have, however discovered how to remove them.

You do not need to remove the whole roof box.

Remove the cover at the back of the roof plastics by pulling down the top edge. (I used my finger nails)

Push out the cover with the squarish vents in it. (put fingers into the hole that the back cover filled) it comes out quite easily.

To remove the cover with the reading lights in, do exactly the same by using fingers from the inside.

This cover comes out front edge first to reveal the bulbs still in holders in the roof box chassis.

Refitting is the reverse of removal.

Make sure you put rear of lamp cover in first and that front of this cover clips fully home so the switches are flush with the cover.

The cover with the vents in just pushes into place and the rear cover goes in front edge first with a slight bending action to get the rear / top to sit back in.

Fantastic, thanks very much - all done. Just the sort of little trick that saves hours of messing around and possible damage.

Except one of the leds has a defect, so I'm leaving the front piece of trim off until I can get replacements

Just a thought with your LED, have you tried fitting it again the other way round?LEDs are sensitive to polarity and will fit two ways and only work one way.

:giggle: , yes I'm au fait with that, but one of the five panels is defunct. The buyer is kindly splitting a packet to send me a replacement tomorrow hopefully.

By the way, I noticed diodes seemingly in parallel with the existing filament light socket pcb and also on the boot light. Would this make these lights canbus "free" in some way?

IIRC, the interior lights are NOT on the Canbus circuit?

Perhaps I should have made myself clearer. I was suggesting, in my non electrical way, that perhaps the whole car circuitry was canbus, but diodes at these locations somehow "de-canbussed" that particular circuit.

This would give the impression that the interior lights were non canbus - or there again, I could be completly off the wall :giggle:
