Interior light removal

Featured Replies

Superskoda now hae the dome lights in stock and the map lights are also coming soon.

Hmmm..... I'm still going to cautious by being cheeky and waiting for feedback from others about how good the "rear seat" dome lights are before I take the plunge. Although the SUperskoda boot light is brilliant :giggle: , their LED red door lights aren't much of an improvement over the standard ones, so I need to be convinced - Yes, ok, I'm still a tight git and won't spend money if i can help it! (well, I am retired you know.....)

  • A bit extreme, but cutting a hole in the roof of this one got the light out.

  • 3's - plenty bright enough!

  • Just a thought with your LED, have you tried fitting it again the other way round?LEDs are sensitive to polarity and will fit two ways and only work one way.

Boot light Ordered, fitted, brilliant.

Job Done :)

I have replaced mine and they can be difficult. I learnt the hard way and broke a metal clip.

Basically you need a very thin blade screwdriver and need to push a metal clip towards the rear of the car. You need to be very gentle, and make sure you are pushing between the light and the metal frame that goes round the headlining. If in doubt, don't do it.

Here is the light and the clip you need to push.

The metal frame with my broken clip.....

I've just fitted led's to my interior rear passenger lights and found that it is very easy to do if you follow the correct procedure.

You must switch the light to permanently on (on the transparent plastic rocker switch) before you depress the metal clip to release the fitting.

If you don't do this then the switch obstructs the metal clip so that it can't be fully depressed.

Hope this helps someone.

A bit extreme, but cutting a hole in the roof of this one got the light out.

  • 3 weeks later...

I thought my new LED boot light had busted this morning!

I was unloading stuff from the boot and it had been open for some time.

As I was emptying the last of the stuff I noticed the boot light flickering.

Did the usual. Gave it a thump. No worky.

Thought bugger, there's going to be the hassle of getting it replaced.

But no. Turns out that the boot light switches off after a period and the flickering was just the voltage dropping below the operating voltage of the LEDs!

Phew.
